10.Italians like to say that when it comes to alcohol, they have a sipping (小酌) culture rather than a drinking culture. That means that while Italians may enjoy a glass of wine or beer, they don't usually get very drunk.
That's not true any more. The new study by the Italian National Health Institute found that 63 percent of Italians under age 18 get drunk on the weekends. Now,the city of Milan has created a law that will stop anyone under 16 from buying alcohol.Anyone who sells or gives alcohol to a person under 16 can be fined up to    700.Young people who feel that the new law is unfair should go to the US for some perspective (观点).The US has the highest drinking age in the world; It's illegal for anyone under 21 to buy alcohol, and stores or restaurants that are caught selling alcohol to people under the legal age risk losing their licenses,
Many young Americans complain that the drinking laws are unfair; They are allowed to vote in elections and join the army at age 18,so why wait another three years just to buy a bottle of beer?
These young people have found help in an unusual place.Last year, more.than 100 presidents of US universities joined together to ask lawmakers to consider changing the drinking age. They argued that the law doesn't stop underage college kids from getting drunk-it just makes them want to drink more.
For now,the law seems unlikely to change. But US teenagers who want alcohol can go north 10 Canada, where the drinking age is 18-19,or south to Mexico where the legal age is 18.Throughout much of Asia,Africa and Europe, the legal drinking age ranges 16-18.
In plenty of places though, the official drinking age is ignored, and even young children can buy alcohol if they have the money to pay for it.
No matter how old you are,you should always be responsible with alcohol.Teenagers in Milan are now learning that their reckless (不顾后果的) drinking behavior may come at a high price.
53.The new law by the city of MilanC.
A.is welcomed by Italian young people
B.aims to keep Italy's sipping culture alive
C.forbids selling alcohol to people under 16
D.has reduced the number of underage youths getting drunk

55.Many US university presidents want lawmakers to consider changing the drinking age becauseD.
A.they've received complaints from many young Americans about the unfairness of the laws
B.hey agree that people old enough to vole and join the army should be allowed to drink.
C.they don't want to see US teenagers going to neighboring countries for a drink
D.they believe the law is pushing underage youths toward alcohol instead of stopping them
56.What can we infer from the passage?A
A,In many places the shop owners don't mind selling alcohol to underage customers.
B.The author thinks that US teenagers should go to Canada or Mexico to drink.
C.Restaurants in the US don't sell alcohol to people under 21 for fear of a    700 fine.

17.Does happiness have a scent?
When someone is hapy, can you smell it?
You can usually tell when someone is happy based on seeing them smile,hearing them laugh or perhaps from receiving a big hug.But can you also smell their happiness?Surprising new research suggests that happiness does indeed have a scent,and that the experience of happiness can be transmitted through smell,reports Phys.org.
For the study,12young men were shown videos meant to bring about a variety of emotions while researchers gathered sweat samples from them.All of the men were healthy and none of them were drug users or smokers,and all were asked to abstainfrom drinking or eating smelly foods during the study period.
Those sweat samples were then given to 36equally healthy young women to smell,while researchers monitored their reactions.Only women were selected to smell the samples,apparently because previous research has shown that women have a better sense of smell than men and are also more sensitive to emotional signaling-though it's unclear why only men were chosen to produce the scents.
Researchers found that the behavior of the women after smelling the scents-particularly their facial expressions-indicated a relationship between the emotional states of the men who produced the sweat and the women who sniffed them.
"Human sweat produced when a person is happy brings about a state similar to happiness in somebody who breathes this smell,"said study co-author Gun Semin,a professor at Koc University in Turkey.
This is a fascinating finding because it not only means that happiness does have a scent,but that the scent is capable of transmitting the emotion to others.The study also found that other emotions,such as fear,seem to carry a scent too.This ensures previous research suggesting that some negative emotions have a smell,but it is the first time this has proved to be true of positive feelings.
Researchers have yet to isolate(分离) exactly what the chemical compound for the happiness smell is,but you might imagine what the potential applications for such a finding could be.Happiness perfumes,for instance,could be invented.Scent therapies(香味疗法)could also be developed to help people through depression or anxiety.
Perhaps the most surprising result of the study, however,is our broadened understanding of how emotions get communicated, and also how our own emotions are potentially managed through our social context and the emotional states of those around us.

63.What is the main finding of the new research?C
A.Men produce more sweats.
B.Negative emotions have a smell.
C.Pleasant feelings can be smelt out.
D.Women have a better sense of smell.
64.The underlined part"abstain from"in Paragraph 3probably meansA.
A.avoid          B.practice     C.continue   D.try
65.What is the application value of the new research?B
A.Perfumes could help people understand each other.
B.Some smells could be developed to better our mood.
C.Perfumes could be produced to cure physical diseases.
D.Some smells could be created to improve our appearance.
66.We can learn from the last paragraph thatD.
A.happiness comes from a scent of sweat
B.positive energy can deepen understanding
C.people need more emotional communiation
D.social surroundings can influence our emotions.
