Most parents, I suppose, have had the experience of reading a bedtime story to their children. And they must have        how difficult it is to write a        children's book.  Either the author has aimed too     . , so that the children can't follow what is in his (or more often, her) story,        the story seems to be talking to the readers.
The best children's books are        very difficult nor very simple, and satisfy both the     who hears the story and the adult who         it. Unfortunately, there are in fact       books like this,       the problem of finding the right bedtime story is not        to solve.
This may be why many of books regarded as        of children's literature were in fact written for      . “Alice's Adventure in Wonderland” is perhaps the most        of this.
Children, left for themselves, often      the worst possible interest in literature. Just  leave a child in bookshop or      and he will more  willingly choose the books    in an imaginative way, or have a look at most children's comics ( 连环画 ), full of the stories and jokes to which both teachers and right-thinking parents     .
Perhaps we parents should stop trying to persuade children into        our taste in literature. After all children and adults are so       that we parents should not expect that they will enjoy the      books. So I suppose we'll just have to compromise(妥协) over that bedtime story.

A.希望;B. 意识到;C. 告诉;D. 说。根据空后内容how difficult it is to write a   37  children's book.
A. 容易;B. 矮; C. 高;D. 困难。根据后面的结果状语从句so that the children can't follow what is in his (or more often, her) story,可以判断有的故事立意太高,超出了孩子们的理解能力,aim high“向高处瞄准,志向高远”,故答案选C。
A. Either the author has aimed ….
A. 孩子;B.父亲;C. 母亲;D.老师。根据后面的定语从句who hears the story可知此处指听故事的孩子,答案选A。
A.收到;B. 接受;C. 有;  D. 拒绝。根据下文内容we'll just have to compromise(妥协) over that bedtime story可知作者认为家长们应该让孩子有自己选择图书的机会,不要强迫孩子接受成年人的观念,故答案选B。

When responding to any adult, you must answer by saying “Yes ma’am” or “No, sir.” Just nodding your head is not acceptable.
Because I grew up in rural North Carolina, this rule comes    36   to me, and it seems the obvious choice to come first. If you want children to respect you, you have to let them know    37 . Simply telling them you want them to address you by saying “sir” lets them know   38     you expect them to treat you. I also tell my students it’s a very useful tool when    39  with adults, and furthermore it also     40   handy for any adult interacting with another adult. Case in point: I was   41    the phone recently with the phone company discussing the inaccuracies(差错) of my    42  . The lady I spoke to was not 43   and seemed annoyed.    44  , in the midst of the conversation, I threw in a “yes, ma’am,” and her entire  45  changed. She became far more helpful and   46  to deal with, and she   47  cutting my bill in half.
Some of my students in Harlem were to be   48  for a chance to attend a high-rated junior high school. The school only had thirty openings for the following year, and twelve of my students were   49  the many kids across the city who applied for the spots. I practiced what the interview would be   50  with my students, and one main thing I stressed was, “  51  you say ‘yes ma’am’ or ‘no sir’ no matter what!” Weeks after the interviews, I was delighted to hear that all twelve of my students had been   52  . When I talked with the admissions director at the school, the main   53  he made over and over was how   54   my students were in their interviews. It seemed like just such a simple thing to do, but it gets   55  .

People always say that if God closed a door in front of you, there must be a window opened for you. Yes, people always say that, but  31  is the window for me?
I’m not disappointed, just a little worried  32  as my roommate said, “Why are you angry with yourself once you  33  to do anything?” I had no idea. I just can’t  34  myself if I can understand some easy things. On Jan 23, 2012, I was aboard a ship on the Yangtze River, listening to the sound of fireworks and eating plate after plate of dumplings.
On Sunday Feb 10, 2013, I was preparing to celebrate Chinese New Year again – in London’s Chinatown.
It was raining. It was cold. But ever since I left Beijing in August, I had promised myself I would celebrate Chinese New Year – if only to help with my Beijing “homesickness”.
Central London was dressed up for the occasion. There was a stage for a big fireworks display for the evening. Even so, it wasn’t like my real Beijing chunjie.
Even buying a baozi didn’t cheer me up. It cost about 10 times as much as the real thing does in Beijing and got stuck to its rain-ruined paper bag.
Cold, wet and depressed, I ran into a shop for shelter. Suddenly, there it was. Between the packets of dried meat and fish, the bags of rice and the smell of dried noodles in this little Chinese supermarket, I had found home.
An hour later, I hurried into my house with bags of frozen jiaozi, packets of sauce and a large bottle of vinegar. I boiled water, tore open the packets, grabbed my chopsticks and settled down to a feast. This, I thought, is a Happy Chinese New Year.
I even watched the fireworks on TV. After all, why face the British weather when I can bring China home in one bite?
【小题1】 We can conclude from the first three paragraphs that the author ______.

【小题4】What is the best title of the passage?
A.Unforgettable Chunjie in Beijing B.Wonderful Experience in Britain

When we read books we seem to enter a new world. This new world can be similar to the one we are living in, or it can be very      . Some stories are told       they were true. Real people who live in a       world do real things; in other words, the stories are about people just like us doing what we do. Other stories, such as the Harry Potter books, are not       . They are characters and creatures that are very different from us and do things that would be       for us.
But there is more to books and writing than this. If we think about it, even realistic writing is only     . How can we tell the difference between what is real and what is not real? Reading, like writing, is an action. It is a way of      . When we read or write something, we do much more than simple look at words on a page. We use our       -- which is real-- and our imagination-- which is real in a different way --- to make the words come to life in our minds. www.zxxk.com

When we read       realistic, we have to imagine that the people we are reading about are just like us, even though we       that we are real and they are    . It sounds       , but it works. When we read, we fill in missing information and     about the causes and effects of what a character does. We help the writer by   52  that what we read is like real life. In a way, we are writing the book, too.
Most of us probably don’t think about what is going on in our       when we are reading. We pick up a book and lose       in a good story, eager to find out what will happen next. Knowing how we feel       we read can help us become better readers, and it will help us discover more about the real magic of books.

When I was in high school, my father retired and set up a food booth on the street near my school. He was particularly good at making       . Every day after I finished school, my classmates and I would      his food booth. But I really      talking to him before his food booth, because I didn’t want my classmates to know my father was selling noodles on the street!
One night, I couldn’t      it any more and shouted, “Dad, could you      selling your annoying noodles? I don’t need a father who sells noodles on the street!” At that moment, my father was     . He tried to say something but didn’t. When he turned      , something happened that I would never      . His eyes were filled with tears. I saw him     for the first time. My mother later told me my father was selling noodles to      money for my college education. Even today I still feel      for what I did that night.
Time really flies. I finished      and then left my home to work. During the past years, whenever I       home, he was always there meeting me      at the railway station. Whenever he saw me off, he never tried to hug me, although I always      his hug. When I was away from home, he never wrote or telephoned me,      he always pushed my mother to telephone me. Whenever my mother was telephoning me, he’d sit beside her with a list of questions. He’d      my mother to talk to me for him. That’s the way he is, and that’s how he shows his      to me.
My father is quiet, but I feel a      , which is deep and powerful. It lives in a place far beyond     , and it is something special-“a silent father’s love”.
