As the alcoholism 5 (progress), Allan began to lose everything he possessed and finally died alone in a small bar. Hearing of his death, I thought, “6 a complete failure!”

As time went by, I began to revalue my 7 (early) rough judgment. I knew Allan’s now adult son, Ernie, one of the kindest and most caring men I’ve ever known. I hadn’t heard him talk much about his father. One day, I worked up my courage to ask him what 8 earth his father had done so that he became such a special person. Ernie said quietly, “As a child until I left home at 18, Allan came into my room every night, gave me a kiss and said, ‘love you, son’.”

Tears came to my eyes as I realized what I had been a fool to judge Allan 9 a failure. He had not left any material 10 (possess) behind. But he had been a kind loving father, and left behind his best love.

【题目】阅读理解
The human brain remembers negative experiences more easily than positive ones. Our brains have developed in this way because threats, like dangerous animals ,have a more immediate effect on people's survival compared to positive things like food or shelter. As a result, you clearly know what makes you unhappy, but do you know what makes you happy?
Research suggests that our level of happiness is partly shaped by the choices we make.If you've been chasing wealth, fame, power and some material things, you may be looking for happiness in the wrong places.Psychologists suggest that the following habits can make people happier.
People who own close relationships tend to be happier than those who do not.The number of our friends is not important. What matters is the quality of our relationships.Relationships that bring happiness usually consist of the sharing of feelings, acceptance, mutual respect and trust.
People who exercise on a regular basis can improve both their physical and mental well-being.Some research has shown that exercise can be as effective as some medicine in treating depression.
If we are so interested in an activity,we may lose track of time, and we can be in a state of flow. The activity could be playing the piano, surfing the Internet or playing a game...People who experience flow in their work or life tend to be happier.
People are more likely to be happy if they know what their strengths are and can use them regularly.People are especially happy when they can set goals and use their strengths to achieve them.
People, who think positively by being grateful, mindful and optimistic, are more likely to be happy.Being grateful means being thankful.Being mindful means considering, focusing on,and enjoying the experiences of the present moment.Being optimistic means being hopeful about the future.
(1)Human brain remembers negative things more easily because.
A.negative things tend to affect human survival immediately
B.negative things are easy to remember
C.negative things are much more important than other things
D.negative things can make people live much longer
(2)People may find happiness in all the following EXCEPT.
A.making friends
B.doing sports
C.playing the violin
D.chasing power
(3)In the last paragraph, the author tries to tell us to.
A.think more about the future
B.be positive in our life and work
C.enjoy our life and work
D.live a happy life every day
(4)What does this text mainly tell us about?
A.Why people remember positive things easily.
B.Why people remember negative things easily.
C.Some habits that make people happy.
D.The habits that people form in their life.

【题目】阅读下列短文,从每题所给的 A、B、C 和 D 四个选项中,选出最佳选项。C
The main aim is a fully autonomous car that gets rid of the cause of most accidents: the driver, Hodgson points out, "For the sake of safety, the faster you can remove humans, the better, even if there are unfortunately a few accidents from new causes. It's a question of balancing the number injured or killed by autonomous vehicles with the people whose lives are potentially saved."
It's a theme that Elon Musk, head of electric car company Tesla Motors, has long supported. His company is determined to be the first to deliver a fully autonomous vehicle to consumers. Last year, Musk announced that Tesla's 2017 goal was "to do a demonstration ( 示 范 ) drive of full autonomy all the way from LA to New York...and have the car park itself."
However, even Tesla admits that there are problems to overcome — the software needs further confirmation and the appropriate regulatory (监管的) approval needs to be in place. Indeed, recent crashes of Tesla vehicles and Google cars confirm that the software isn't ready yet.
The UK government appears determined to encourage the development of autonomous vehicles. It's supporting four city trials, publishing the Modern Transport Bill to reduce red tape around their introduction and adapting the legal system to take into account issues such as insurance liability when a human isn't in control of a vehicle.
The insurance industry is similarly keen to promote increasing autonomy in cars. As the Association of British Insurers (ABI) points out: "More than 90 per cent of road accidents are attributed to human errors." This costs motor insurers a surprising 20 per day in claims.
(1)In Hodgson's opinion, what is the problem with the driverless cars?
A.Whether it is true that the faster you can remove humans, the better.
B.Who can explain why there are still a few accidents by driverless cars.
C.How to deal with the new causes of accidents resulting from driverless cars.
D.Whether to balance the number injured or killed with the people whose lives may be saved.
(2)Why is the insurance industry in favor of driverless cars?
A.Because they can make their insurers save money in claim.
B.Because it is drivers' errors that lead to over 90% road accidents.
C.Because human errors cost motor insurers a surprising 20 per day in claims.
D.Because motor insurers believe driverless cars will never cause any road accidents.
(3)Which is the best title of the passage?
A.The advantages of driverless cars.
B.The disadvantages of driverless cars.
C.Driverless cars in future.
D.The development of driverless cars.
