Day 1 Overnight flight to Italy 和Day 11 Hotel Leopardi, Verona, Italy这两处可以看出这个旅游的具体安排,起点和终点都在意大利

【2】细节理解题。由Please Note:表格

June 2

$2,199

中的June 2可知推知这个季节应该是夏季,对应的费用最高($2,199)。故C项为最佳答案。其他选项文中均未涉及。

【3】细节理解题。明显的两处提示即:①for your 7-night journey along the waterways of the Mediterranean ②The cruise ship is filled with the warmth and culture of Italy and is richly designed with entertainment。。。cruise巡航旅游的意思可以看出“the Costa Victoria”是艘船,所以C正确。

【4】细节理解题。根据第二段第二句二段第二句 “In Katakolon, you will have the only unguided tour to nearby Olympia on the whole journey.”中的the only unguided tour (=on their own)y.这里的unguided tour就是说没有导游即on one’s own的自主游,所以B正确。

【题目】Scientists are learning new things about Antarctica, the coldest place on Earth. For example, the Antarctic ice sheet is shrinking. A new study found that summer ice loss in parts of Antarctica was at its highest level in 1,000 years. The study showed that Antarctic ice was melting mostly from below ice shelves, where the water is warmer than the ice.

Eric Rignot is an earth system expert at the University of California, Irvine. He also works for the American space agency, NASA. There he serves as senior research scientist at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, also in California. He says ice melting from below is responsible for 55 percent of the shelf loss from 2003 to 2008. That is a much higher rate than scientists thought earlier.

Professor Rignot and his team used satellite observations, radar and computer models to measure features above the ice to learn what was going on below.

The measurements show differences from one area to the next around the continent. The major ice shelves are called Ross, Filchner and Ronne. They make up two-thirds of Antarctica’s ice shelves. But they are responsible for only 15 percent of the melting ice.

The professor says even small changes, like changes in ocean flow driven by wind, can make a huge difference in the melting of the ice shelf.

Sixty percent of the Earth’s fresh water is held in the huge Antarctic ice sheet. Professor Rignot says the study will help experts predict how the continent reacts to warmer ocean waters and helps to cause rising sea levels around the world. The study was published in the journal Science.

1Whats the main idea of the passage?

A. the Antarctic ice sheet is shrinking

B. the coldest place on earth

C. the major Antarcticas ice shelves

D. the Atlantic Ocean are changing

2How did Eric Rignot and his team do the research?

A. He serves as senior research scientist at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory.

B. They used satellite observations, radar and computer models to know the things happening below the ice.

C. Small changes, like changes in ocean flow driven by wind, can make a huge difference in the melting of the ice shelf.

D. They melted 55% of the Antarcticas ice to prove their theory is right.

3Which is true of the following statements?

A. Ice melting from below is responsible for 35 percent of the shelf loss from 2003 to 2008.

B. The major ice shelves are called Ross, Filchner and Ronne, which make up one-third of Antarctica’s ice shelves.

C. Sixty percent of the Earth’s fresh water is contained in the huge Antarctic ice sheet.

D. Summer ice loss in Antarctica was at its highest level in 1,000 years.

【题目】A few years ago I had an aha ! moment regarding handwriting.

I had in my hand a sheet of paper with handwritten instructions on it for some sort of editorial task. It occurred at first that I did not recognize the handwriting, and then I realized whose it must be. I finally became aware of the fact that I had been working with this colleague for at least a year, maybe two, and yet I did not recognize her handwriting at that point.

It was a very important event in the computerization of lifea sign that the informal, friendly communication of people working together in an office had changed from notes in pen to instant messages and emails. There was a time when our workdays were filled with little letters, and we recognized one another's handwriting the way we knew voices or faces.

As a child visiting my father's office, I was pleased to recognize , in little notes on the desks of his staff, the same handwriting I would see at home in the notes he would leave on the fridgeexcept that those notes were signed" dad" instead of "RFW".

All this has been on my mind because of the talk about The Rise and Fall of Handwriting, a book by Florey. She shows in her book a deep concern about the fall of handwriting and the failure of schools to teach children to write well, but many others argue that people in a digital age can't be expected to learn to hold a pen.

I don't buy it.

I don't want to see anyone cut off from the expressive, personal associations that a pen still promotes better than a digital keyboard does. For many a biographer, part of really getting to know their subjects is learning to read their handwriting.

What some people advocate is teaching one of the many attractive handwritings based on the handwriting of 16th-century Italy. That may sound impossibly grandas if they want kids to learn to draw by copying classical paintings. However, they have worked in many school systems.

【1】Why was the author surprised at not recognizing his colleague's handwriting?

A. He had worked with his colleague long enough.

B. His colleague's handwriting was so beautiful.

C. His colleague's handwriting was so terrible.

D. He still had a lot of work to do.

B. take more notes on workdays

C. know better one another's handwriting

D. communicate better with one another

【3】The author's father wrote notes in pen __________.

A. to both his family and his staff

B. to his family in small letters

C. to his family on the fridge

D. to his staff on the desk

【4】According to the author, handwritten notes __________.

A. are harder to teach in schools

B. attract more attention

C. are used only between friends

D. carry more message

【5】We can learn from the passage that the author __________.

A. thinks it impossible to teach handwriting

B. does not want to lose handwriting

C. puts the blame on the computer

D. does not agree with Florey

【题目】Who hasn't found themselves reaching for the closest food available when they're tired and stressed? More and more research is proving that this isn't all in our mind. Some foods really do lead to a change in our moods (心情).

Carbohydrate (碳水化合物) for calm

This is how some people medicate(治疗) themselves with food — by reaching for cookies or pasta(意大利面食) whenever they're upset. Unfortunately, it doesn't always work. You must eat a meal consisting of 100% carbohydrate, on an empty stomach, to obtain the serotonin (血清素) increase so that you have a good mood.

To get the wishedfor effect, you must not eat anything for four hours and then eat at least 30 grams of straight carbohydrate. Dry cereal (谷类食品), a piece of bread with jam, or a potato should do_the_trick.

Protein (蛋白质) for power

Of course, sometimes we don't need to be calm and sleepy.Sometimes we need a great deal of mental concentration, so this is when it's important to mix protein and carbohydrate. The protein will prevent the tryptophan (色氨酸) from flooding your brain, and the rise in serotonin(血清素) won't occur.

Why dessert makes us happy

Fat and sugar cause the brain to let go endorphins (内啡肽), which send pleasure signals throughout the body. This would be fine, except humans are not particularly good at stopping at one cookie or cake.

You can also satisfy your sweet tooth by choosing fruit for dessert.

Timing your meals for energy

Blood sugar drops after four hours of going without food, causing a decrease(减少) in energy. Eating usually fixes this within 20 to 30 minutes, but don't suppose that eating more will cause a faster increase in energy.

When you eat has as much of an effect on your mood as what you eat. If you regularly go for a long period of time between meals, rethink your schedule and plan ahead.

【1】The underlined phrase do_the_trick in the third paragraph means ________.

A.be extremely smart

B.intend to cheat someone

C.bring about the desired result

D.do something to amuse people

【2】The function of protein is ________.

A.to help you keep calm and sleepy

B.to make you feel energetic

C.to lead you to slowness

D.to increase serotonin in your brain

【3】We can infer from the last two parts that ________.

A.fat and sugar can greatly help people feel happy

B.we humans tend to eat lots of cookies and cakes

C.the more we eat, the faster we will gain energy

D.what we eat is more important than when we eat

【4】The main idea of the passage is ________.

A.eating for a better mood

B.eating to make you calm

C.eating for more protein

D.eating to make us strong
