    　　At Harton College－an English boarding school for boys, there are many rules．15-year-old Bob Sanders often breaks them．

    　　The boys can go into the town in the afternoon after class．But they must retum to the school at six o'clock, One afternoon Bob walked to the town．He looked at the shops and then went to the cinema．After the film, he looked at his watch．It was after eight o'clock．He was a little worried．He walked back to Harton College as fast as possible．

    　　He looked into the room－no one was there．Bob quickly climbed on to the window sill(窗台)and jumped into the room．Just then he heard a noise．Then someone turned on a light in the corridor．Bob looked around and then hid under the sofa．One minute later, Mr．Mannering, the headmaster, came in．He turned on the light on his desk, and sat down on the sofa．Then he opened a book and began to read．

    　　Bob lay under the sofa as quietly as possible．He couldn't move．The floor was cold and uncomfortable．He looked at the headmaster's shoes and socks for an hour．

    　　“Why doesn't he get up and go to bed?”Bob thought．

    　　Mr．Mannering read his book for an hour．Finally, the headmaster closed his book and stood up．He put the book on the shelf and walked towards the door．

    　　“Thank heavens he didn't find me under the sofa,”thought Bob．

    　　Then Mr．Mannering stopped and spoke towards the sofa．“Would you turn off the light when you leave?”he said, and left the study．

    One cold January evening in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, America, I went with my father on an oil burner service call. My father was in his forties at that time and I was about twelve years old. He was always working hard trying to support us seven kids. I enjoyed hanging out with him whenever I could — he taught me so much.

           We arrived at the call and after walking over snow and ice, we knocked on the customer’s door. A senior citizen opened the door and let us into her very cold home. The home wasn’t furnished very well and was quite dark, except for a single light bulb over the dining room table. Below the light was an older man counting change from several old coffee cans. She only pointed to the kitchen and smiled at us.

           After a short while, my father had the heater up and running, and it began to heat their cold home. The lady asked my dad in poor English how much she owed him for fixing the heater. My dad looked around the house and said that he had to go out to the truck and write the bill.

           Once in the truck he marked the bill “no answer at home, no charge”, so they wouldn’t be charged for his work. He looked over at me and said, “He was counting his change to pay me. They need their money more than I do.”

The book was actually written in 1948 and was written about what the author (George Orwell) fell the world would be like in 1984,and he was pretty spot-on .This book is thrilling and will probably leave you a little scared at the end of it.
    The Road---This book is a fantastic read and will leave you hanging on edge all the way through it. This book is quite dark, however, and it certainly had some shocking moments throughout. The book is set in a post-apocalyptic(浩劫后的) world where modern life has been destroyed and in which there is no wildlife and a lot of humans have actually turned to cannibalism(同类相食).This book is fantastic if you enjoy a thrilling read that will leave you on the edge of your seat every few seconds. This certainly isn't a book for the faint of heart.
    The Theory of Everything by Stephen Hawking---If you haven’t read this book yet then you really must .If you’re looking for a non-fiction and highly informative book for your summer then this is the book for you. This book was written by Professor Stephen Hawking and is extremely famous.
