With the concept of “being honest” deep rooted in their minds, honesty can be reflected in our daily life and study. However, related rules and regulations should be applied for evaluate students in aspects such as homework, tests, and relationships with teachers and parents. Last but not least, we’d like strict measures carrying out to punish those that cheat constantly. As a result, they must take responsibility for their bad behaviors, thus reducing chances of cheating the next time.

our改为their

However改为Besides

for改为to

carrying 改为carried

that改为who

删掉the

与句中in our daily life意思一致,此处指诚实的概念在我们的头脑中根深蒂固,“我们的our,故our改为their.

故However改为Besides.

故for改为to.

英语指last, next, this, that等时间短语前不加冠词,此处是next time.故删掉the.

And of course, many of these are on the World Heritage List (WHL)(世界遗产名录). But the WHL contains a lot of sites that are not so obvious. Let's look at a few of them.

Robben Island in South Africa

This island was used through the centuries as a prison, hospital and military base. But it's probably most famous as a maximum-security prison for political prisoners in the twentieth century. Nelson Mandela was one of its most famous residents. The WHL says it represents 'the triumph of democracy(民主))and freedom over oppression and racism'.

Borders of France and Spain

This is an area of great natural beauty and the mountains have many interesting geological formations. But it is also an area of small farms. People there still use a type of agriculture that used to be common in mountainous areas of Europe in the 17th century but that has almost completely disappeared in modern times.

The city of Brasilia, Brazil

Brasilia is a capital city that was created from nothing in 1956. The WHL calls it 'a landmark in the history of town planning'. The different areas of the city and the buildings themselves were all designed at the same time carefully. Every part of the city shows the ideas of the planners and architects.

Simien National Park, Ethiopia

Simien National Park was one of the first sites to be listed in 1978. It is one of the highest mountain areas in Africa, and the WHL calls it 'one of the most spectacular landscapes in the world'.

I worked from the time when I was four and raised seven children, all of them college graduates. It seemed I’d done everything I’d ever wanted to do in my life, but I had one regret. I was born in 1898, the oldest of five kids. Papa couldn’t spare me to go to school, so I worked in the fields with him till I was 21 years old.

Everywhere I went, I learned some hard lessons about what happens to a man who even can’t read the alphabet. People cheat you out of wages. They sell you a ticket to one city, take your money and hand you a ticket to somewhere else.

By 1928, I’d been wandering for nine years. I met a woman named Elzenia. We fell in love, married and moved to Dallas, where I got work fixing roads for the city. When Amelia, the oldest of our seven children, first went to school, I took my wife aside. “Elzenia,” I said. “I don’t want the kids to know I can’t read or write.”

In 1938, one day my boss called me in. “George,” he said. “No one knows those machines like you do. I’d like to promote you.” But my thrill and surprise were cut short when he said, “Fill out this application and we’ll get you a raise.” I couldn’t admit the truth. I thanked him and walked out of his office. I did stay right where I was, until I turned 65 and my boss made me retire. But I didn’t stop working. For the next 25 years, I lived a happy life, but it still seemed to me like something was missing.

A young fellow handed me a piece of paper. It’s information about adult education classes. People can learn to read and write. Now I’m 98. I thought of my friends and neighbours and what they might think if they found out I couldn’t read. After all these years, my secret would be out. But all my life I’ve wanted to read. It was high time for action.
