由第二段内容可知,“There is no canteen or lunchroom at the Peabody(博物馆内没有餐厅)”,排除C、D。

B选项,Admission Fee中规定ID卡的大学生收费5美元,由最后一段“Admission is free to any individual with a valid Yale ID. A Museum pass will give you $ 5 off each admission”可知,持耶鲁ID可以免除5美元费用,因此说耶鲁的学生可以免费入场,因此B错误。

Remembering names is an important social skill. Here are some ways to master it.

Recite and repeat in conversation.

When you hear a person’s name, repeat it. Immediately say it to yourself several times without moving your lips. You could also repeat the name in a way that does not sound forced or artificial.

Ask the other person to recite and repeat.

You can let other people help you remember their names. After you’ve been introduced to someone, ask that person to spell the name mad pronounce it correctly for you. Most people will be pleased by the effort you’re making to learn their names.

Admit you don’t know.

Admitting that you can’t remember someone’s name can actually make people relaxed. Most of them will feel sympathy if you say. “I’m working to remember names better. Yours is right on the tip of my tongue. What is it again?”

Use associations.

Link each person yon meet with one thing you find interesting or unusual. For example, you could make a mental note:“Vicki Cheng -- tall, black hair.” To reinforce your associations, write them on a small card as soon as possible.

Limit the number of new names you learn at one time.

When meeting a group of people, concentrate on remembering just two or three names. Free yourself from remembering every one. Few of the people in mass introductions expect you to remember their names. Another way is to limit yourself to learning just first names. Last names can come later.

Go early.

Consider going early to conferences, parties and classes. Sometimes just a few people show up on time. That's fewer names for you to remember. And as more people arrive, you can hear them being introduced to others—an automatic review for you.

1How will most people feel when you try hard to remember their names?

A. They will be moved. B. They will be annoyed.

C. They will be delighted. D. They will be discouraged.

2When you meet a group of people, it is better to remember __

A. all their names B. a couple of names first

C. just their last names D. as many names as possible

3What does the text mainly tell us?

A. Tips on an important social skill.

B. Importance of attending parties.

【题目】阅读下列短文,选出最佳选项。

When I was about ten years old, I was walking down the street with my mother. She stopped to speak to Mr. Lee. I knew I could see Mr. Lee any time around the neighborhood, so I didn’t pay any attention to him. After we passed Mr. Lee, my mother stopped me and said something that has stuck with me from that day until now. She said seriously, “You let that be the last time you’ve ever walked by somebody and not opened up your mouth to speak, because even a dog will wag its tail when it passes you on the street.” Mother’s words sound simple, but it’s been a guidepost for me and the foundation of who I am.

It’s not just something I believe in; it’s a way of life. I believe that every person deserves to feel someone acknowledge their presence, no matter how humble (卑微) they may be.

At work, I always said hello to the founder of the company and ask him how our business was doing. But I also spoke to the people who cleaned the buildings and asked how their children were doing. After a few years of greeting the founder, I had the courage to ask him for a meeting. We had a great talk. At a certain point I asked him how far he thought I could go in his company. He said, “If you want to, you can get all the way to this seat.”

I’ve become vice president, but it hasn’t changed the way I approach people. I still follow my mother’s advice. I speak to everyone I see, no matter where I am. I’ve learned that speaking to people creates a pathway into their world, and it allows them to come into mine, too.

【1】What did the author do when he met Mr. Lee?

A. He talked with somebody else.

B. He was attracted by a dog.

C. He greeted him politely.

D. He ignored him.

【2】What kind of person is the author’s mother?

A. Optimistic. B. Kind-hearted.

C. Strict. D. Open-minded.

【3】How did the company founder reply to the author?

A. He inspired him. B. He played a joke.

C. He invited him to coffee. D. He gave him the seat.

【4】What does the author think of saying hello to people?

A. It’s a way to show sympathy to people.

B. It can build connections with others.

C. It’s a must to become a president.

D. It can bring him what he wants.

I’m tired and covered in dust. I’ve been digging all day and I’ll be doing the same tomorrow. Sound awful, doesn’t it ? But I’ve never had so many fun in my life. As an archaeology student, I have already knew something about the Qin Tomb and the terracotta warriors. Most Chinese children can tell you Qin Shihuang was the emperor first unified China. He was a brilliant ruler, and he was also a cruel man who killed thousands of people. When he became the king of the state, he immediately ordered workers to construct an underground tomb for him, which is said to contain great treasures. But, the actual entrance to the tomb has ever been found, nor has the tomb been opened. There are ancient descriptions of crossbows hiding at the tomb’s entrance. It’s said that if everyone steps across the entrance, the crossbows will fire.
