    16．From a biological point，human life almost reads like a poem．It has its own rhythm，internal cycles of growth and decay．It begins with innocent childhood，followed by awkward adolescence trying to adapt itself to society with passions and curiosities．Then it reaches a manhood of intense activities，benefiting from experience and learning more about society and human nature．At middle age，there is a slight easing of tension，and a character of maturity like the ripening of fruit or long-preserved wine．Then in the sunset of our life，the endocrine（内分泌）system in our body decreases the  biological activity．If we have a true philosophy of old age and have ordered our life pattern according to it，it is for us the age of peace，security and contentment．Finally，life flashes out and one goes into eternal sleep，never to wake up again．
    One should be able to sense the beauty of this rhythm of life as we do while listening to  symphonies，appreciating its main theme，its conflict and the ending．The movements of these cycles are very much the same in a human's life，but the music must be written by the individual himself．In some souls，the unpleasant note becomes louder and finally covers the main rhythm．Sometimes the unpleasant note gains so much power that the music can no longer go on，and the individual shoots himself with a gun or jump into a river．
    That is because his original theme has been showed extremely wildly for the lack of self-discipline，otherwise any human's life will run to its normal end naturally．There are sometimes in many of us too many staccatos （断奏）or impetuses（强音）．Because the rhythm is wrong，the music is not pleasing to the ear．We may learn more of the rhythm of the grand rivers like the River Amazon，flowing steadily and eternally into the sea．
    No one can say that life with childhood，manhood and old age is not a perfect arrangement．The day has its morning，noon and sunset，and the year has its seasons．And if we take this biological view of life and try to live according to the arrangement，no one can deny that life can be a poem．Shakespeare has expressed this idea more vividly in his passage about the seven stages of life，and a good many Chinese writers also have said about the same thing．Shakespeare was like Nature itself，and that is the greatest compliment we can pay to a writer．He merely lived，observed life and went away quietly and beautifully．

    ②Pandas climb and swim
     Pandas are good climbers．Even panda cubs（幼兽） can climb trees．They can also swim，though they spend most of their time on land．Pandas don't often show these two abilities．Instead，they spend most of their time resting and eating．Unlike other bear species，pandas do not hibernate（冬眠） during the winter months．
    ③Pandas attack
    Pandas are a passive animal．When they are frightened，they will try to escape an area immediately or they will climb the nearest tree．But when they are annoyed，they can become dangerous，lowering their heads and staring at their opponents（对手）．They may use their paws（手掌） and mouths to attack．
    ④Pandas locate each other by smell
    Pandas have an unusual breeding（繁殖） system．Females are fertile（可以繁殖的） for just one or two days a year．This means it's difficult for a female panda to become pregnant（怀孕）．Yet during this important period，males and females show a great talent for finding each other，so much that females appear to get pregnant in the wild at almost every opportunity．Researchers have found that this success comes down to their sense of smell．Pandas leave"scent posts"（气味布告） throughout the forest by urinating（小便） on trees．Those posts give information about their owners，including their identity，sex and age．When other pandas pass they can get an idea of which other of their species have been the same way．
