In order to make effective advertisements, advertisers should decide which people they are going to reach. That will help them find out the likes and dislikes and some other information in the specific people. Then they should consider how to attract people, namely, how to make their advertisements appeal to their hopes and dreams or their emotions. They should also think about where to place their ads, or rather, which may be the right medium. Of course, they can’t choose a medium without worrying about the cost.

How do advertisers make effective advertisements?

In order to persuade people to buy the products, advertisers should make effective advertisements. How can they do that?

First, they should identify their target. That’s to decide which people the advertisement intends to persuade. Having identified the target group, researchers find out as much as possible about those in the target group, such as their likes and dislikes, and how the product would fit into their lives. Next, their advertisements should appeal to their target. Take one exciting advertisement on sports shoes as an example, the message it is sending is  “Buy our shoes and you’ll live an exciting life in the fast lane.” Young people like doing exciting things, so the advertisement must be exciting enough to appeal to them. Then, they should use a suitable medium. Advertisers must also consider which media are the most appropriate for their product and which their target audience is most likely to see or hear, and often their decision has to depend on their expense.
