【解析】

Hey, good morning, everyone! Welcome to Lillian’s Kitchen. I’m Lillian Rayne. Today, we’re going to learn how to make smoothies. First, what is a smoothie? Please look at the glasses in front of me. They are smoothies! Don’t they look inviting? A smoothie is a thick and creamy drink made from raw fruit, vegetables, and sometimes dairy products like yogurt, or ice-cream, typically using a blender. Here you can see a blender. It’s an electric machine you use to mix liquids and soft foods together. Actually, besides some common recipes, you can be creative to make smoothies of your own style. You may use other ingredients, such as water, ice, fruit juice, honey, nuts, or even herbs.

Now, I’m showing you how to make a strawberry smoothie. Strawberry smoothies are healthy, delicious, and refreshing—and best of all, they’re easy to make! First, you need 10 strawberries, 125 ml of milk, 5 ice cubes, and 1 tablespoon of sugar. Then, cut your strawberries into pieces and put them into a blender. Next, pour the milk into the blender. Add ice. Turn on the blender until the mixture is perfectly done. Put the sugar in, blending a few seconds more. If the strawberries are sweet enough, you may not need the sugar. Or if you’d like something more natural, honey is a great alternative. After all this, pour the smoothie into a glass. And now, it’s time to enjoy!

【题目】 Happy, angry, amazed—these are some of the emotions we like to express these days when we’re sending a message on our smart phones! That’s why many of us now add little pictures to our texts to brighten up someone’s mobile screen but we’re also using them as a quick way of telling someone how we’re feeling. Yes, emojis (表情符号) have become a popular tool for communication.

The emoji was first invented in Japan in the late 1990s and the word “emoji” comes from the Japanese words for “picture” and “character”. The number of different images has greatly increased since then and now we have a picture for nearly every mood or situation.

Why are emojis widely used today? Professor Vyv Evans says, “Increasingly, what we’re finding is that digital communication is replacing face-to-face talk in some ways. One of the reasons why emojis are so interesting is that they really do enable us to express our emotional selves much more effectively.”

Another advantage of emojis is that they are an international language—they don’t use words but tell a message with pictures so they can be easily understood whatever your native language is.

But as linguist (语言学家) Neil Cohn says, “To many, emojis are an exciting evolution (进化) of the way we communicate; but to others, they are linguistic Armageddon.” It does show by using emojis, there is a lot more to our communication than words alone, but does this also mean that the traditional writing will die out one day?

1What is implied(暗示) in Paragraph 2?

A.The emoji was first invented in Japan.

B.The word “emoji” only means “picture” and “character”.

C.More and more pictures are used to express our mood today.

D.The number of emoji images will increase rapidly in the future.

2Why do people use emojis so widely?

A.Emojis can never be misunderstood.

B.Emojis are similar to some native languages.

C.Emojis make us communicate more effectively.

D.Emojis can replace face-to-face communication.

3What is the structure of the passage?

A.B.C.D.

【题目】阅读下面的短文和问题,根据短文内容,在相应题号后的横线上写下相关信息,完成对该问题的回答。答语要意思清楚,结构正确,书写工整。

Patrick and Rachel Hugens have biked around the world. The Hugenses, who live in Boise when not on their bikes, are 25 months into their latest round-the-world adventure, scheduled to end in March. They've visited 36 countries on this tour, touching Europe, Africa, Asia and South America. “Traveling by bike is the greatest freedom," Rachel said via email. “You can see people's daily lives and can communicate with them.”

Rachel warns, “Cycle touring can become addictive.” Bike tourism is on the rise in the United States and around the world, according to the Adventure Cycling Association. The U. S. Bicycle Route System has grown 66 percent in the past two years and now has a presence in 24 states, including Idaho, and the District of Columbia.

Dennis Swiftsecretary of the Southwest Idaho Mountain Biking Association, rode across the U.S. last year- from Seattle to Salem, Mass. Six people started the tour and three finished, riding 52 out of 56 days. They averaged about 60 miles per riding day. Swift also rode through the Basque Country with a group of Boise cyclists last year. He's planning to participate in a Virginia bike tour this year. “When you get older, your health is most important,” he said. “My mom had Alzheimer's disease. They say what's good for health is good for the brain, so riding is one thing to be first in my life.”

This is the third time that the couple have quit their jobs to tour. Rachel is a nurse; Patrick is an architect. Both regained their former jobs when they returned home in 2000 and 2007. They're uncertain what will happen this time. They've given themselves a chance to save extra money by going to work by bike and avoiding some bills that are basic for most ( cell phones, cable TV).“Traveling changes your view of money and what it can do for you,” Rachel said. “We've met some cyclists traveling long term. They have many reasons to spend wisely.”

“The fellow cyclists we meet mostly come from Britain, Germany, Spain, Holland, Australia or New Zealand," Rachel said, “It is so nice to see that people all over the world are friendly and welcoming.”
