Everyone can't live without money. However, money cannot buy everything. You can't buy the following things only relying on money you have.
Time
Money is a tool for trade. We spend most of our time on this earth getting, spending, worrying and fantasying about money. No money has power to bring that back to life.

Health
As I write this, I found out that one of my best friends has brain cancer, and it is in the last period. But no money can buy insurance for his life. We buy insurance for just about everything including our life but money can never bring life back.
Happiness

【题目】阅读理解。
Christopher Thomas, 27, was a writer by night and a teacher by day when he noticed he was always tired and was losing weight fast. Diagnosed with diabetes (糖尿病), Thomas would need to inject himself with insulin (胰岛素) three times a day for the rest of his life or risk nerve damage, blindness, and even death. And if that weren't bad enough, he had no health insurance.
After a month of feeling upset, Thomas decided he'd better find a way to fight back. He left Canton, Michigan for New York, got a job waiting tables, nicknamed himself the Diabetic Rockstar, and created diabeticrockstar.com, a free online community for diabetics and their loved ones—a place where over 1,100 people share personal stories, information, and resources.
Jason Swencki's son, Kody, was diagnosed with type diabetes at six. Father and son visit the online children's forums (论坛) together most evenings. “Kody gets so excited, writing to kids from all over,” says Swencki, one of the site's volunteers. “They know what he's going through, so he doesn't feel alone.”
Kody is anything but alone: Diabetes is now the seventh leading cause of death in the United States, with 24 million diagnosed cases. And more people are being diagnosed at younger ages.
These days, Thomas's main focus is his charity (慈善机构), Fight It, which provides medicines and supplies to people—225 to date—who can't afford a diabetic's huge expenses. Fight-it.org has raised about $23,000—in products and in cash. In May, Thomas will hold the first annual Diabetic Rockstar Festival in the Caribbean.
Even with a staff of 22 volunteers, Thomas often devotes up to 50 hours a week to his cause, while still doing his fulltime job waiting tables. “Of the diabetes charities out there, most are putting money into finding a cure,” says Bentley Gubar, one of Rockstar's original members. “But Christopher is the only person I know saying people need help now.”

Tornadoes are nature's most violent storms, which can cause deaths and destroy a neighborhood in seconds. A tornado appears as a funnel-shaped (漏斗状) cloud from a thunderstorm to the ground with whirling (飞快移动) winds that can reach 300 miles per hour. Damage paths can be over one mile wide and 50 miles long. Every state is at some risk from this disaster.
Some tornadoes can be seen clearly, while rain or nearby low-hanging clouds obscure others. At many times, tornadoes develop so rapidly that little, if any, advance warning is possible.
Before a tornado hits, the air may become very still. A cloud of debris (散片) can mark the location of a tornado even if a funnel can not be seen. Tornadoes generally occur near the edge of a thunderstorm, when the strong wind may die down. It is not uncommon to see clear, sunlit skies behind a tornado.
The following are facts about tornadoes:
The average forward speed of a tornado is 30 MPH, but may also vary from still to 70 MPH. Debris is picked up or a cloud forms in the funnel.
The average tornado moves from southwest to northeast, but tornadoes have been known to move in any direction. Tornadoes are most often reported east of the Rocky Mountains during spring and summer months.
Tornadoes can happen together with tropical storms and hurricanes as they move onto land. Waterspouts are tornadoes that form over water.
The tornado season in the southern states of America is March through May; in the northern states, it is late spring through early summer. Tornadoes are most likely to occur between 3 p.m. and 9 p.m., but can occur at any time.

B.Great heat.
C.Thunderstorms.
D.Sandstorms.
(2)What does the underlined word “obscure” probably mean?

(3)When a tornado happens, ________.
A.it often reaches the speed of 70 MPH
B.it can only be seen in the late of the day
C.it may form on the surface of sea water
D.it only moves from southwest to northeast
(4)The passage makes us believe that ________.
A.tornadoes are mostly seen in the southern states of America
B.warnings about tornadoes are well developed in many countries
C.of all the natural disasters, tornadoes often cause the biggest damage
D.tornadoes may strike so quickly that there is often little or no warning

【题目】A new tool of communication called the “drift diary” is doing the rounds among young college graduates.

The “drift diary”, like those ancient paper messages put into a bottle left to drift on the high seas to reach hundreds of miles away, connects lonely hearts.

The “drift diary” was first started by a Beijing woman, who goes by the Net name Little S, in 2007. It has become the preferred tool of communication among youngsters afraid to reveal their innermost self to peers, but wanting to share their lives with others.

The way it works is that the initiator(发起人)of the diary mentions it on popular Internet forums such as Tianya and Douban. Those wanting to react or otherwise add to the diary then send their real names and addresses to the initiator via e-mails or text messages.

The numbers in one group are usually restricted to between 30 and 50. The diary then passes on to another by express delivery or personal handover. The diary writers are mostly anonymous but if they wish to reveal their identity they can do so by posting their contact information at the end of their postings.

The diary writers add not just words but also decorate the plain notebooks with cartoons, drawings or even dress it up with a ribbon or a new cover. Interesting experiences, travel journals, the simple joys of everyday living or sweet recollections of childhood, all find a place in these diaries. Most often, though, the writers set down their frustrations and predicaments.

It usually takes one year for a diary to return to the initiator. The last recorder is the luckiest one, with access to all previous entries, while others can request photocopies of these from the diary’s initiator.

1The popularity of “drift diary” among youngsters is because __________.

A. they hate using the Internet

B. they like to show themselves to peers

C. they want to share their lives with strangers

D. they find it fashionable to be a diary writer

2Which one shows the correct way a drift diary works?

① The diary then passes on between the recorders.

② The diary returns to the initiator.

③ The initiator of the diary makes a summon online.

④ Participants request photocopies of the diary from the diary’s initiator.

⑤ Those who want to participate in the program get in touch with the initiator.

A. ③⑤①④②. B. ③⑤①②④.

C. ④⑤①②③. D. ①③⑤②④.

3The underlined word “predicament” probably means__________.

A. successful experiences B. sense of achievement

C. difficult situations D. favorable conditions

4Which of the following can be used as the best title for the passage?

A. Drift Diary--A New Tool of Communication

B. How a Drift Diary Works

C. Share Your Lives with Strangers

D. The Diary That Passes on
