Dear fellow students,
The foggy weather these days has caused widespread concern about air pollution. There are more traffic accidents and more people are suffering from breathing problems because of the pollution.
There are some reasons for air pollution in China. First of all, too many cars give off waste gas in the street. Second, a lot of fossil fuel like coal, petrol and natural gas is consumed in factories, which produces too much carbon dioxide. Besides, China has many smokers, who are making air pollution even worse.
It is time for us to fight against air pollution. We had better walk or ride to school to reduce the consumption of fossil fuel.We should plant more trees to absorb poisonous gas in the air. Besides, it can help improve the air quality to persuade people around us to give up smoking.

A major source of teen stress is school exams, and test anxiety is not uncommon. When you recognize your teen is under stress, how can parents help your teen stay calm before an exam?
Be involved. Parents need to be involved in their teen's work. ¡¾1¡¿What they look for is your presence - to talk, to cry, or simply to sit with them quietly. Communicate openly with your teen.
Encourage your teen to express his worries and fears, but don't let them focus on those fears.
Help them get organized. ¡¾2¡¿ Together, you and your teen can work out a time-table in which she can study for what she knows will be on the test.
Provide a calm setting. Help your teen set up a quiet place to study and protect his privacy. Give them a nutritious diet. It's important for your teen to eat a healthy, balanced diet during exam times to focus and do her best. ¡¾3¡¿If this happens, encourage your teen to eat light meals or sandwiches. A healthy diet, rather than junk food, is best for reducing stress.
¡¾4¡¿ Persuade your teenager to get some sleep and/or do something active when she needs a real break from studying. Making time for relaxation, fun, and exercise, which are all important in reducing stress. Help your teen balance her time so that she will feel comfortable taking time out from studying to spend time with friends or rest.
Show a positive attitude. ¡¾5¡¿ Your panic, anxiety and blame contribute to your teen¡¯s pressure.
Make your teen feel accepted and valued for her efforts. Most importantly, reassure your teen that things will be all right, no matter what the results are.
A. A parent's attitude will their influence teen's emotions.
B. Exam stress can make some teens lose their appetite.
C. They will only make the situation worse.
D. Encourage your teen to relax.
E. The best thing is simply to listen.
F. Help your teen think about what she has to study and plan accordingly.
G. Your teen may also make negative comments about themselves.

My favorite sport is playing basketball. In the middle school, I joined in the basketball team. All the teammate practised hard after school. Once our team had match against another school¡¯s. At the very beginning, we were so nervous which we couldn¡¯t cooperate very good, because this was the first time for us to compete with the school honor. In the half match they fell behind. Our team leader calls us together and said that we must get uniting in order to beat them. Then we tried our best and won the game at last. Play basketball makes me realize the importance of union and teamwork.

¡¾ÌâÄ¿¡¿If you have a bad habit of losing things, a new device that can be connected to any item that you might lose may be the way to solve your problem. The Tile, a small square linked up to your iPhone or iPad via Bluetooth, lets you see how close you are to the missing item, within a 50-to 150-foot range . If the item goes out of your phone¡¯s 150-foot range, it can still be detected (·¢ÏÖ) on other smartphones with the same app.
When you log into the app on your phone, it shows you, with green bars that increase or decrease, how far away you are from the Tile. You can also program it to make a sound when you get close to the Tile. And you can link up your phone with up to ten Tiles. And if your lost item ¡ª a dog, for example, or a stolen bike ¡ª goes out of your own phone¡¯s 150-foot Bluetooth range, you can set it as a ¡°lost item¡±. If any of the phones with the Tile app comes within the range of your lost item, a message will be sent to your own phone, reminding you of its position. The Tile app also has the function to remember where it last saw your Tile, so that you can easily find where you left it.
Since the Tiles use Bluetooth rather than GPS, they never run out of battery or need to be charged, and they last for one year before needing to be replaced. The app, which will come into the market this winter, works with iPhone 5S, iPhone 6, iPad Mini, iPad 3rd and 4th generation, and iPod 5th generation.
¡¾1¡¿The Tile app can help you .
A. find your missing items
B. use your phone more wisely
C. save your phone¡¯s battery power
D. connect something to your phone
¡¾2¡¿Which of the following is TRUE according to the passage?
A. The Tile needs to be charged after a year of use.
B. One smart phone can only be linked up to one Tile.
C. The Tile cannot work when linked up to a phone without Bluetooth.
D. A missing item can¡¯t be found if it goes out of the needed range.
¡¾3¡¿What does the second paragraph mainly tell us?
A. What the Tile app is.
B. How the Tile app works.
C. The advantages of the Tile app.
D. Why the Tile app was invented.
¡¾4¡¿Where does this passage probably come from?
A. A science fiction novel. B. An advertisement.

How to be a good roommate
Roommate horror stories are pretty popular topics of conversation at school. Follow a few simple tips to ensure you¡¯re not the awful roommate everyone¡¯s talking about.
Respect each other
First and foremost, you need to respect your roommate.
¡ñ¡¾1¡¿ If your roommate is sleeping, keep the noise and light levels down. If your roommate is studying, don¡¯t have loud conversations in the same room. If in doubt, ask yourself whether you would be annoyed if your roommate didn¡¯t do the above things for you.
¡ñKeep it clean. ¡¾2¡¿ . Hair in the shower or bathrooms littered with magazines or dirty clothes. Respect means keeping your side of the room clean. And hopefully, if your roommate sees you keeping your side clean£¬he will keep his side clean.
¡ñKeep your hands off their stuff. ¡¾3¡¿ . If you really need to borrow something of theirs, always ask before you do. If they say no, don¡¯t get angry. Some people just don¡¯t like other people using their stuff.
Set basic rules
You and your roommate should establish some basic rules. For instance, I really don¡¯t like it while I am studying. ¡¾4¡¿ I¡¯d rather be writing my paper than listening to you tell your best friend about your weekend. So discuss that with your roommate. Make a compromise£¨ÕÛÖз½°¸£©, but the tie should go to the person studying. Another example is to discuss cleaning duties. Dividing cleaning duties will make your room cleaner and it will help ease roommate tensions.
A. It is amazing how people don¡¯t understand what it means to be considerate.
B. Taking out the trash and tidying the room are just a few things to consider.
C. I have heard many horror stories about dirty roommates.
D. I¡¯m not good at doing several things at the same time.
E. Don¡¯t use your roommate¡¯s items (ÎïÆ·) without asking.
F. Talk on the phone.
G. Be considerate.
