    Parkour can be just as exciting and charming as it sounds，but its participants see parkour much more than that．
    Overcoming all the obstacles on the course and in life is part of the philosophy（理念） behind parkour．This is the same as life．You must determine your destination，go straight，jump over all the barriers as if in parkour and never fall back from them in your life，to reach the destination successfully．A parkour lover said，"I love parkour because its philosophy has become my life，my way to do everything．"
    Another philosophy we've learnt from parkour is freedom．It can be done by anyone，at any time，anywhere in the world．It is a kind of expression of trust in yourself that you earn energy and confidence．

    The robot was adapted from one that was already being used to monitor fruit and trees on farms．A team at Sydney University's Centre for Field Robotics improved the robot so that it could be put in a field with cows in order for the researchers to gather data on robot-cow interaction．
    The robot needs to be operated by a human but it's hoped that in the future a version can be developed that will be fully automated．As well as gathering cows a new version could also collect information useful for farmers．
    Using robots to get cows to the dairy will be better for their well-being．"The research is in its very early stages but robotic technologies certainly have the potential to transform dairy farming，"said Dr．Kerrisk．"When we have discussed this concept with farmers they have been extremely excited and we have had a series of calls and emails asking how they can get hold of one，"she added．
    The robot could also cut down the number of accidents involving humans on farms．Most dairy farmers in Australia use bikes to round up their cattle and they are one of the leading causes of injury．The team hopes that by using the robot to do the job instead，accident rates could fall．

    In studies of interpersonal argument，for example，when subjects were asked to deal with contradictory information resulting from conflict between a mother and a daughter or a student and a school，Peng found that Americans were"non-compromising，blaming one side-usually the mother-for the causes of the problems，demanding changes from one side to attain a solution and offering no compromise"in dealing with the conflict．Compared to this angry，blaming American method，the Chinese were paragons（模范）of compromise，finding fault on both sides and looking for solutions that moved both sides to the middle．

    This growing trend of reporting only part of the information is becoming dangerous．For example，several years ago a high school student reported the dangers of the chemical known as dihydrogen monoxide．This chemical，found in most cancerous tumors（肿瘤），is often found in the blood of people drunk on alcohol，and causes complete physical and mental dependence for those who take the chemical even once．After reading his report，more than 75% of his Advanced Placement Chemistry class voted to forbid this dangerous chemical!Every one of the above statements is true，yet this chemical is necessary to all life on earth．The students made the mistake because they voted knowing only a few statements and statistics，rather than the chemical's full background．
    The point of this article is that one should be aware of what is and is not being said．When one finds a new fact or number，one should try to consider other important information before forming an opinion with only half-truths．Always remember that the author is trying to convince you of his or her own view，and will leave out information that is different to his view．For example，look again at the statistics that suggest skiing is safe．Only 32people may die each year when skiing，while 897die from lightning strikes，but which is really the most dangerous？If you think about it，you realize far fewer people go skiing each year than the number of people who are in danger of a lightning strike．When you think about it，skiing is more dangerous than you might at first think when looking at statistics．If we teenagers are to be left in this world，we had better be able to think critically，and form our own views，rather than be easily persuaded by another's．To be warned is to be prepared．

    1．Douglas Adams was born in Cambridge in March 1952，educated at Brentwood School，Essex and St John's College，Cambridge where，in 1974he gained a BA （and later an MA） in English literature．
