My dream is to become a school teacher in the future. In fact, I had the dream of becoming a teacher since my childhood. In my opinion, without teachers, no society could make progresses. There is no doubt whether teachers play an important role in children growth. Not only do teachers pass on knowledge for children, but they also teach children how to behave themselves. Comparing with other jobs, teaching is hard and the pay is lower. And to me, what great fun it is to be with children! They make me to feel young forever because I¡¯ll study harder and try my best to realize my dream.

New York University (NYU) is one of the best universities in the United States and it has just opened a school in Shanghai in partnership with East China Normal University(ECNU). The arrival of the American university on China mainland is an example of what is being called the ¡°globalization¡± of education and it is hoped that this trend will influence the quality of education in all of China¡¯s universities by raising the standard of teaching.
NYU Shanghai¡¯s class of 2017(students will graduate in 2017) is made up of 295 students from China, America and other countries. The students will study liberal arts courses for two years before choosing a major and when they graduate, they will receive a degree from NYU and a degree from ECNU. All the classes will be taught in English, using the teaching methods in American universities. Students will be pushed to take risks in the classroom, pushed to speak up and pushed to say things that are not completely correct, which can make them understand that it¡¯s OK for them to make mistakes in class.
This style of learning will be challenging for many Chinese students, because they will be mixed with the foreign students both in the classroom and in the dormitory. Living and studying with foreigners day to day will provide Chinese students with a cultural as well as academic education and it¡¯s hoped that this cross-cultural experience will benefit them when they seek jobs in the competitive global market.
China¡¯s interest in partnering with foreign universities comes at a time when western universities are trying to expand. They realize that information, technology and business are now borderless; they also realize education should be borderless too. This trend will have a deep effect on bringing the world closer together and the students at NYU Shanghai should be excited to be on the leading edge of this trend.

2.What is the NYU Shanghai¡¯s class like?
A. It offers the same courses as NYU does in the US.
B. It¡¯s hard to follow the classes without knowing English.
C. The students are majoring in liberal arts courses.
D. Only two-year courses will be provided in this class.
3. How should the students perform in the classroom?
A. They must express themselves correctly.
B. They should try to be active in the class.
C. They will learn something dangerous.
D. They have to correct their mistakes.
4. What can be inferred from Paragraph3?
A. More foreign students will work in Shanghai after graduation.
B. Chinese students will get a better education than foreign students.
C. It may be easier for the students to find jobs after graduation.
D. No foreign students can benefit from the cross-cultural experience.
5.Why are the western universities trying to expand?
A. Because they want to get more information and more money.
B. Because they want to improve their technology.
C. Because Shanghai is on the leading edge in China.

Love, success, happiness, family and freedom¡ªhow important are these values to you? Here is one interview which explores the fundamental(»ù±¾µÄ) questions in life.
Q: Could you introduce yourself first?
A: My name is Misbah,27 years old. I was born in a war-torn(Õ½Õù»ÙµôµÄ) area. Right now I¡¯m a web designer.
Q: What are your great memories?
A: My parents used to take me to hunt birds, climb trees, and play in the fields. For me it was like a holiday, because we were going to have fun all day long. Those are my great memories.
Q: Does your childhood mean a lot to you?
A: Yes. As life was very hard, I used to work to help bring money in for the family. I spent my childhood working, with responsibilities beyond my age. However, it taught me to deal with problems all alone. I learnt to be independent.
Q: What changes would you like to make in your life?
A: If I could change something in my life, I¡¯d change it so that my childhood could have taken place in another area. I would have loved to live with my family in freedom. Who cares whether we have much money, or whether we have a beautiful house? It doesn¡¯t matter as long as I can live with my family and we are safe.
Q: How do you get along with your parents?
A: My parents supported me until I came of age. I want to give back what I¡¯ve got. That¡¯s our way. But I am working in another city. My only contact with my parents now is through the phone, but I hate using it. It filters(¹ýÂË) out your emotion and leaves your voice only. My deepest feelings should be passed through sight, hearing and touch.

Among all the fast growing science and technology, the research of human genes, or biological engineering as people call it, is drawing more and more attention now. Sometimes it is a hot topic discussed by people.
The greatest thing that gene technology can do is to cure serious diseases that doctors at present can almost do nothing with, such as cancer and heart disease. Every year, millions of people are murdered by these two killers. And to date, doctors have not found an effective way to cure them. But if the gene technology is applied, not only these two diseases can be cured completely, bringing happiness and more living days to the patients, but also the great amount of money people spend on curing their diseases can be saved, therefore it benefits the economy as well. In addition, human life span (ÊÙÃü) can be prolonged.
Gene technology can help people to give birth to more healthy and clever children. Some families, with the English imperial (»Ê¼ÒµÄ) family being a good example, have hereditary diseases. This means their children will for sure have the family disease, which is a great trouble for these families. In the past, doctors could do nothing about hereditary diseases. But gene technology can solve this problem perfectly. The scientist just need to find the wrong gene and correct it, and a healthy child will be born.
Some people are worrying that the gene research can be used to manufacture human beings in large quantities. In the past few years, scientists have succeeded in cloning a sheep, therefore these people predict that human babies would soon be cloned. But I believe cloned babies will not come out in large quantities, for most couples in the world can have babies in very normal way. Of course, the governments must take care to control gene technology.
1.What does ¡°them¡± in the second paragraph refer to ?
A. People with cancer or heart disease.
B. Millions of people with serious diseases.
C. Some diseases doctors can do nothing with.
D. The two illnesses of cancer and heart disease
2.What can gene technology do according to paragraph three?
A. It can help the English imperial family out.
B. It can be used to clone human babies.
C. It can help people to give birth of a baby.
D. It is likely to treat hereditary diseases.
3.What are people worried about according to the passage?
A. Human babies may be cloned in a large scale.
B. Healthy human babies will soon be cloned.
C. Scientists may well find the wrong genes.
D. The government may not control gene techs.
4.This passage is mainly written to _________________.
A. show gene technology will benefit people
B. show gene technology will do harm as well
C. tell that gene technology is a hot topic
D. tell that gene technology is growing fast
