1.For several years,the art trade in London has known about the possible existence of the"treasure of the western cave",dating from the 6th century BC.It was said to have been discovered"by farmers"in western Iran around 1992.Out of between 200and 600pieces,only a few have so far"surfaced".The Iranians were very angry that they managed to seize only part of the collection and that the rest was taken abroad illegally.But now they may worry less.An academic paper has just produced convincing evidence that at least one piece is a fake (赝品).
Fakes always exist in the world of antiquities(古物),but what is astonishing is how widespread they are now.A report from the Archaeological Institute of America concludes that no less than 80per cent of all"ancient"west African pieces on the market are fake.How can this"forgery(伪造) culture"boom?It is found that about 80per cent of the antiquities traded have no clear source.In other words,it is not known where they were found and therefore,even if they are real,they can tell us little about ancient history.
People in the trade say that the majority of these objects were found in"casual discoveries".Shamefully,they know that this is not true.They advance the fiction because it suits their commercial purposes.The reality is that the objects come from robbery,not by local farmers"happening"on a few finds.The"treasure of the western cave"is a classic example of how faking works.
Faking is big business,and is of such a standard that even the greatest scholars may be fooled some of the time.The antiquities trade likes to play down not only the extent of robbery and faking,but also the overlap between the two.These latest reports let the cat out of the bag.But it is the overlap with robbed antiquities that is the most significant factor,which leads to the culture of forgery.
Collectors of antiquities need to be aware that they not only aid the robbery of potentially invaluable sites, but put themselves at the mercy of fakers as well….

67.What do we probably know about the"treasure of the western cave"?C
A.It's slightly broken.
B.It's totally real.
C.It's partly fake.
D.It's fairly new.
68.What astonishes the author?A
A.The huge number of fakes.
B.The long history of fakes.
C.The influence of fakes.
D.The origin of fakes.
69.According to the passage,"forgery culture"mainly results fromD.
A.a belief in"casual discoveries"
B.high faking standards
C.antiquities without a clear source
D.close combination of robbery and faking
70.Which is probably the last sentence of the passage?D
A.This is the main source for robbery.
B.What shall be done to stop this trend?
C.Are collectors of antiquities aware of it?
D.They are being not just dishonest,but foolish.

An academic paper has just produced convincing evidence that at least one piece is a fake (赝品).可知,所谓的藏宝洞里发现的古董很可能是赝品,故答案为C.
68.A  推理判断题 根据第二段第一句Fakes always exist in the world of antiquities(古物),but what is astonishing is how widespread they are now可知,作者惊讶的是赝品流传之广和数量之多,故答案为A.
69.D  细节理解题 根据第三段最后一句The reality is that the objects come from robbery,not by local farmers"happening"on a few finds.The"treasure of the western cave"is a classic example of how faking works.可知,伪造文化之所以盛行是因为很多藏品来历不明,可能是偷盗而来,可能是赝品,故答案为D.
70.D  推理判断题 根据文章最后一段Collectors of antiquities need to be aware that they not only aid the robbery of potentially invaluable sites,but put themselves at the mercy of fakers as well….可知,古董收藏家需要意识到他们不仅助长了对未来可能无价的藏宝地的盗窃,而且还体现了对造假者的同情,接下来应该是:他们不仅仅是不诚实,而且是愚蠢的,故答案为D.

9.The rise of the Internet has been one of the most transformative developments in human history,comparable in impact to the invention of the printing press and the telegraph.Over two billion people worldwide now have access to vastly more information than ever before,and can communicate with each other instantly,often using Web-connected mobile devices they carry everywhere.But the Internet's tremendous impacts has only just begun.
"Mass adoption of the Internet is driving one of the most exciting social, cultural, and political transformations in history, and unlike earlier periods of change, this time the effects are fully global,"Schmidt and Cohen write in their new book The New Digital Age.
Perhaps the most profound changes will come when the five billion people worldwide who currently lack Internet access get online.The authors do an excellent job of examining the implications of the Internet revolution for individuals,governments,and institutions like the news media.But if the book has one major shortcoming,it's that authors don't spend enough time applying a critical eye to the role of Internet businesses in these changes.
In their book,the authors provide the most authoritative volume to date that describes-and more importantly predicts-how the Internet will shape our lives in the coming decades.They paint a picture of a world in which individuals,companies,institutions,and governments must deal with two realities,one physical,and one virtual.
At the core of the book is the idea that"technology is neutral,but people aren't."By using this concept as a starting point,the authors aim to move beyond the now familiar optimist vs.pessimist point of view that has characterized many recent debates about whether the rise of the Internet will ultimately be good or bad for society.In an interview with TIME earlier this week,Cohen said although he and his co-author are optimistic about many aspects of the Internet,they're also realistic about the risks and dangers that lie ahead when the next five billion people come online,particularly with respect to personal privacy and state supervision.
25.How do Schmidt and Cohen describe the effects of the Internet?B
A.They are immeasurable.
B.They are worldwide.
C.They are unpredictable.
D.They are profound.
26.In what respect is the book The New Digital Age considered inadequate?C
A.It fails to recognize the impact of the Internet technology.
B.It fails to look into the social implications of the Internet.
C.It lacks an objective evaluation of the role of Internet businesses.
D.It does not address the technical aspects of Internet communication.
27.What will the future be like when everybody gets online?A
A.People will be dealing with two different realities.
B.People will have equal access to information.
C.People don't have to travel to see the world.
D.People don't have to communicate face to face.
28.What does the passage say about the authors of The New Digital Age?D
A.They leave many questions unanswered concerning the Internet.
B.They are optimistic about the future of the Internet revolution.
C.They have explored the unknown territories of the virtual world.
D.They don't take sides in analyzing the effects of the Internet.

16.As the leaves change color in autumn, students return to school. As a frost covers the ground each night,we are busy planting vegetables in northern Wisconsin.
Five public school districts in northern Wisconsin recently built high tunnels(隧道)for the winter growing season. The schools'high tunnels, made of metal frame and a plastic covering the raised beds, keep plants warm enough to extend the growing season through the winter and allow an earlier spring planting. Our very short growing season occurs almost entirely during the summer vacation months. This makes the high tunnels necessary in allowing students to gain experience of growing and marketing produce in a cold climate where production at this scale couldn't otherwise happen during the school year.
During the summer, the high tunnels on school grounds still need to remain there. We developed the Agripreneur program(Agriculture+Entrepreneur)to support students'work in the high tunnels during months when students are are on holidays. This program was made possible by a farm and a university. Each summer,a pair of students will be hired from every high school to care for and sell a single crop in exchange for instruction from professional lo-cal farmers, growing experience, and a salary.
The Agripreneur program appeared for its first season during the summer of 2015.Students grew tomatoes that were sold to community members, local restaurants and the school cafeterias(食堂).The program met its goal of increasing the number of local vegetables consumed, both within the region and in school lunches.Sales to school cafeterias will continue through the winter as the high tunnels'change to nutrient root vegetables, all grown by students.
We may live in winter, but with the recent addition of these school high tunnels, our students are able to eat the freshest local vegetables available-even during the coldest months.

32.What do we know about the school's high tunnels?A
A.They are actually greenhouses.
B.They are actually metal containers.
C.They are entirely used for planting vegetables in summer.
D.They are mainly used as reading rooms for students.
33.High tunnels are being used in the school districts because ofC.
A.students'interest in planting.
B.the larger need of crops there.
C.the short growing season there.
D.no fresh vegetables available there.
34.The Agripreneur program was created toD.
A.get farmers to produce more crops.
B.check students'work on the high tunnels.
C.get instructions from professional local farmers.
D.help students do their work in the high tunnels in holidays.
35.What can be the best title for the text?D
A.Crops Are Planted in Winter
B.Students Are Becoming Scientists
C.Schools Have the Vegetable Market
D.New Growing Season Begins Under High Tunnels.

10.This month,Germany's transport minister,Alexander Dobrindt,proposed the first set of rules for autonomous vehicles(自主驾驶车辆).They would define the driver's role in such cars and govern how such cars perform in crashes where lives might be lost.
The proposal attempts to deal with what some call the"death valley"of autonomous vehicles:the grey area between semi-autonomous and fully driverless cars that could delay the driverless future.
Dobrindt wants three things:that a car always chooses property(财产) damage over personal injury;that it never distinguishes between humans based on age or race;and that if a human removes his or her hands from the driving wheel-to check email,say-the car's maker is responsible if there is a crash.
"The change to the road traffic law will permit fully automatic driving,"says Dobrindt.It will put fully driverless cars on an equal legal footing to human drivers,he says.
Who is responsible for the operation of such vehicles is not clear among car makers,consumers and lawyers."The liability(法律责任) issue is the biggest one of them all,"says Natasha Merat at the University of Leeds,UK.
An assumption behind UK insurance for driverless cars, introduced earlier this year, insists that a human"be watchful and monitoring the road"at every moment.
But that is not what many people have in mind when thinking of driverless cars."When you say‘driverless cars',people expect driverless cars."Merat says."You know-no driver."
Because of the confusion,Merat thinks some car makers will wait until vehicles can be fully automated without human operation.
Driverless cars may end up being a form of public transport rather than vehicles you own,says Ryan Calo at Stanford University,California.That is happening in the UK and Singapore,where government-provided driverless vehicles are being launched.
That would go down poorly in the US,however."The idea that the government would take over driverless cars and treat them as a public good would get absolutely nowhere here,"says Calo.

46.What does the phrase"death valley"in Paragraph 2 refer to?D
A.A place where cars often break down.
B.A case where passing a law is impossible.
C.An area where no driving is permitted.
D.A situation where drivers'role is not clear.
47.The proposal put forward by Dobrindt aims toB.
A.stop people from breaking traffic rules
B.help promote fully automatic driving
C.protect drivers of all ages and races
D.prevent serious property damage
48.What do consumers think of the operation of driverless cars?D
A.It should get the attention of insurance companies.
B.It should be the main concern of law makers.
C.It should not cause deadly traffic accidents.
D.It should involve no human responsibility.
49.Driverless vehicles in public transport see no bright future inC.
A.Singapore
B.the UK
C.the US
D.Germany
50.What could be the best title for the passage?A
A.Autonomous Driving:Whose Liability?
B.Fully Automatic Cars:A New Breakthrough
C.Autonomous Vehicles:Driver Removed!
D.Driverless Cars:Root of Road Accidents.

科目:高中英语 来源:华大新高考联盟2017届高三5月教学质量测评英语试卷 题型:阅读理解

When a friend approaches you in the heat of a moment, it can be hard to know what to say. There’ no blanket approach for every person through every crisis (危急), but a few guidelines could help you offer the best support.

Friends going through a crisis often just need someone to talk to and explore their feelings with, but the trick is to listen without sounding like you’re judging. Reorganize “why” questions, which can imply you’re questioning their judgment, but ‘how’ and ‘what’ questions, and ‘who’ and ‘when’ seem caring and sincere.

Open-ended questions that can’t be answered with a ‘yes’ or ‘no’ will also help friends dig into their deepest feelings during a crisis. While your loved ones talk through their replies, practice active listening by focusing on their answers. After all, your friends probably just need someone to listen and prove them, rather than hearing you offer potentially unhelpful advice.

When you do respond, avoid telling friends in crisis how they “should” be feeling. “ ‘Should’ is not a valid term, saying it’s not OK for you to feel these societally ‘weak’ feelings,” says Michelle Kuchuk, director of training for Crisis Text Line. “If you’re only hearing ‘you should feel great’, you’re never going to speak again or get that weight off your chest if you think other people will judge you.”

On the other hand, tying those positive feelings to a specific action can feel more sincere. If friends hear “you’re so strong” without an example to back it up, they might never believe it. But if they’ve been explaining how hard it was to talk to someone else, praise them for taking that brave step.

Finally, it’s more important for a friend to know you’re there for support than stressing about saying the right thing during a crisis. Just be a friend and really listen to that person, not with your own agenda but “what is this person really going through?”

1.Who is this passage intended for?

A. People to be consultants. B. People in need of support.

C. People going through a crisis. D. People supporting friends in crisis.

2.What is your most suitable question to ask one talking to you?

A. Who did that1? B. When did you start it?

C. How did you feel about it1? D. Why did you feel that way?

3.What does the underlined part mean in the 4th paragraph?

A. Tell the truth out. B. Relieve their pressure.

C. Keep everything secret. D. Leave your baggage behind.

4.What is suggested to respond to your friends’ talking?

A. Preparing your questions beforehand.

B. Giving them as many instructions as possible.

C. Praising them constantly by encouraging words.

D. Expressing your appreciation for a small behavior.
