3.In an age dominated (控制的) by new med ia and the Internet, there are so many alternative ways of learning.Gone are the days when,if we couldn't make it into a classroom, the only real option was to pick up a book,or when audio materials consisted of bad quality cassettes or sporadic(时有时无的) radio and TV programmes. With the appearance of broadband access to the web,we have a whole new learning domain (统领) at our fingertips.Sophisticated learning materials in the form of text or high-quality audio are now available at the touch of a button, and tests and assignments can be submitted (进行) and marked online.Questions and learning, studying away from the classroom has never seemed easier.Yet many teachers would argue that face-to-face contact between teachers and students is an essential part of the language learning experience.Enter the concept of blended (融合的) learning,an approach to education which seeks to combi ne the best of new technology and actual human contact.
Advocates of blended learning argue that an approach to study which combines the benefits of new technology with the best aspects of face-to-face (often abbreviated to F2F) teaching, will achieve better results. For example, there are some aspects of study, like practical sessions, dealing with more subjective questions,or meeting the needs of an individual student, which require face-to-face human interaction, whereas the more mechanical aspects of learning, such as answers to clear-cut questions, can be managed simply and effectively in a remote environment using new technology.
Blended learning approaches have proven especially appropriate in language learning. For example,in an ELT (English Language Teaching ) environment,a simple scenario (剧情概要) might be a classroom session where a teacher asks a group of students to use a wiki to create a text. Students then go away and compose and edit the text remotely.During the next F2F session, the teacher express his opinion about their work.

14.If Confucius(孔子)were still alive today and could celebrate his September 28birthday with a big cake,there would be a lot of candles(蜡烛).He'd need a fan or a strong wind to help him put them out.
While many people in China will remember Confucius on his special day,few people in the United States will give him a passing thought.It's nothing personal.Most Americans don't even remember the birthdays of their own national heroes.
But this doesn't mean that Americans don't care about Confucius.In many ways he has become a bridge that foreigners must cross if they want to reach a deeper understanding of China.
In the past twenty years,the Chinese studies programs have gained huge popularity in Western universities.More recently,the Chinese government has set up Confucius Institutes(孔子学院) in more than 80countries.These schools teach both Chinese language and culture.The main courses of Chinese culture usually included Chinese art,history and philosophy(哲学).Students in the United States,at the same time,are racing(比赛)to learn Chinese.So they will be ready for life in a world where China is an equal power with the United States.Businessmen who hope to make money in China are reading books about Confucius to understand their Chinese customers.
So the old thinker's ideas are still alive and well.
Today China attracts the West more than ever, and it will need more teachers to introduce Confucius and Chinese culture to the West.
As for the old thinker,he will not soon be forgotten by people in the west, even if his birthday is.

72.The opening paragraph is mainly intended toB.
A.provide some key facts about Confucius

A.have a great interest in studying Chinese
B.take an active part in Chinese competitions
C.try to get high scores in Chinese exams
D.fight for a chance to learn Chinese
74.What is the best title for the passage?C
A.Forgotten Wisdom in America
B.Huge Fans of the Chinese Language
C.Old Thinker with a Big Future
D.Chinese Culture for Westerners
75.The passage is likely to appear in aC.

18.America is a mobile society.Friendships between Americans can be close and real, yet disappear soon if situations change.Neither side feels hurt by this. Both may exchange Christmas greetings for a year or two, perhaps a few letters for a while-then no more.If the same two people meet again by chance, even years later, they pick up the friendship. This can be quite difficult for us Chinese to understand, because friendships between us flower more slowly but then may become lifelong feelings, extending sometimes deeply into both families.
ericans are ready to receive us foreigners at their homes, share their holidays, and their home life. They will enjoy welcoming us and be pleased if we accept their hospitality (好客) easily.Another difficult point for us Chinese to understand Americans is that although they include us warmly in their personal everyday lives, they don't show their politeness to us if it requires a great deal of time. This is usually the opposite of the practice in our country where we may be generous with our time.Sometimes,we,as hosts, will appear at airports even in the middle of the night to meet a friend. We may take days off to act as guides to our foreign friends. The Americans, however, express their welcome usually at homes, but truly can not manage the time to do a great deal with a visitor outside their daily routine. They will probably expect us to get ourselves from the airport to our own hotel by bus.And they expect that we will phone them from there.Once we arrive at their homes, the welcome will be full, warm and real.We will find ourselves treated hospitably.
For the Americans,it is often considered more friendly to invite a friend to their homes than to go to restaurants, except for purely business matters. So accept their hospitality at home.

8.What is America's number one sport?Can I still say baseball?You could make that statement 30years ago,but things have changed.Baseball of course has the richest history of all sports.But with the popularity of basketball and American football,there can now be an argument on which sport is American's number one sport.
Basketball really took a turn in the1980's as Magic Johnson and Larry Bird took the NBA to another level.Of course,basketball was already popular and had seen such stars as Jerry West and Dr.J,but the real breakthrough(突破)came in the 1980's and from there it really took off with Michael Jordan into the 90's.Basketball has even become very global now as many NBA stars competed in the Olympics and faced no competition.Today,they had better be ready because there are so many talents in other countries and the competition will be  stiff.
Like basketball,American football has always been a favorite of many sports fans and its popularity has grown widely.The ratings(收视率)that Super Bowl Sunday brings are amazing.They have even talked about making Super Bowl Sunday a national holiday.
In the year 2050,basketball and American football will have history like baseball's rich history and maybe American national sport.They have been trying for years,but it is not going to happen.
So what is American's number one sport?To me baseball will always be Americans'hobby-rich in history and many memories for people of all ages.If you have any comments on this subject,do give your opinions.

15.Can you imagine that several hundred years ago, tomatoes were seen as toxic food in Europe?
What made Europeans believe this was John Gerard's publication of Herbal in 1597.Gerard wrote:"The leaves and stalks of the tomato plant are toxic."Undoubtedly,Gerard's opinion was based on a misunderstanding of tomatoes. But his opinion was widely spread in Britain and North America for over two hundred years.

12.Baby girls make their way directly for dolls as soon as they can crawl(爬行),while boys will head for cars,a study has shown. The findings, the first to show differences in very young babies, suggest there is a biological basis to their preferences.
Psychologists Dr Brenda Todd from City University London carried out an experiment involving 90 babies aged 9 months to 36 months. The babies were allowed to choose from seven toys. Some were typically boys'toys----a car,a digger,a ball and a blue teddy. The rest were girls'toys:a pink teddy,a doll and a cooking set. They were placed a meter away from the toys;and could pick whichever toy they liked; their choice and the amount of time they spent playing with each toy were recorded.
Of the youngest children (9 to 14 months),girls spent significantly longer playing with the doll than boys, and boys spent much more time with the car and ball than the girls did.Among the two and three-year-olds,girls spent 50 percent of the time playing with the doll while only two boys briefly touched it.The boys spent almost 90 percent of their time playing with cars, which the girls barely touched. There was no link between the parents'view on which toys were more appropriate for boys or girls, and the children's choice.
Dr Brenda Todd said,"Children of this age are already exposed(显示出) to much socialization.Boys may be given‘toys that go'while girls get toys they can care for, which may help shape their preference. But these findings agree with the former idea that children show natural interests in particular kinds of toys. There could be a biological basis for their choices.Males through evolution(进化,发展) have been adapted to prefer moving objects, probably through hunting instincts(本能),while girls prefer warmer colors such as pink, the color of a newborn
