The key to reaching or staying at a healthy weight is regular exercise and good eating habits.Teens should get 60 minutes or more of physical activity a day.Note the word“activity”.As long as you’re getting your body moving, it dosen’t have to mean doing complicated exercises or going to the gym every day.All that matters is that each week you get the right balance of activity, including aerobic(有氧健身法的),strength building, and flexibility(柔韧性)exercise.Make exercise a habit by scheduling some every day.

On days when you have soccer practice or an aerobics class, you may have no trouble exercising for an hour or more. But most of us are busy, and 60 minutes a day of activity seems like a lot of time. The good news is that it’s OK to divide it into shorter“exercise breaks” throughout the day.

Just as you might have a healthy snack to stop yourself getting hungry, exercise snacks can keep energy level high.So get up 15minutes early and do some yoga or other stretching(伸展)activity.Fast walk or jog for 15 minutes at lunch.Do the same thing after school ---or walk or bike home.Add to that taking the stairs, gym class, and walking between classes during the day, and your’ve probably reached your 60 minutes.

Here are 5 simple ways to make an exercise lifestyle change:

  1.Start today.Go outside for a walk.

2.Take the stairs instead of the elevator.

3.Instead of driving, walk or bike to places like school or a friend’s house.

4.Vacuum(用真空吸尘器清扫)your room, wash the car, or mow the lawn.

5.Limit your time watching TV, using the computer, or playing video games-and when you do play, try interactive games that get you moving.

(1)

The underlined phrase“exercise snacks” in the third paragraph probably means“——”.

[ ]

A.

food eaten before exercise

B.

food eaten during exercise

C.

shorter“exercise breaks”

D.

a new kind of exercise

(2)

Why should we have exercise snacks every day?

A.

Thousands of people living in the Chinese capital will celebrate the start of the Chinese New year by heading for the ski resorts (滑雪场). Never mind that Beijing's dry weather seldom produces snow. It is cold enough in winter for snow-making machines to make a covering for the hills north to the capital. And the rapid growth of a pleasure-seeking middle class has formed the basis for this new craze(热潮).

Since Beijing's first ski resort was opened ten years ago, the sport has enjoyed astonishing increase. There are now more than a dozen resorts. Clothes markets in the city have added bright colored ski suits to their winter collections. Mr. Wei, a manager of a newly-opened ski resort in Beijing, sees the growth of an industry that could soon lead Chinese to head for the ski resorts of Europe, In recent years ski resorts offering natural snow have opened in China. But many are in faraway areas of the country and can't really match the equipment and services of some ski resorts in Europe.

Beijing's skiing craze is partly a result of the recent increase in private (私有的) cars. This has led to the growth of a leisure industry in the capital's suburbs (郊区), which until the late-1990s were unreachable to ordinary people, According to Mr, Wei, about 40% of the visitors to his resort come in their own cars. The rest are bused in by schools, businesses or government Offices.

The problem is making money. Starting ski resorts requires quite a lot of money; hiring land from the local government, preparing the hills, buying snow machines, making sure there are enough water and electricity to run them, and buying ski equipment for hiring out to customers.

The ski resort where Mr. Wei works cost nearly $4m to set up. And, as so often in China when someone comes up with a good idea, many others hash in and price wars break out. Beijing now offers some of the cheapest ski training classes in the world, though with most people rather new to the sport, expecting a few more doing the same job.

What does this text mainly talk about?

    A. Convenience for skiers brought about by private cars.

    B. Skiing as a new way of enjoying one's spare time.

    C. Things to be considered when starting a ski resort.

    D. A sudden increase of ski training classes in Beijing.

Why are some Chinese likely to go skiing in Europe?

    A. To visit more ski areas.             . To ski on natural snow.

    C. For a large collection of ski suits.  D. For better services and equipment.

The underlined words "leisure industry" in Paragraph 3 refer to -

     A. transport to ski resorts              B. production of family cars

     C. business of providing spare time enjoyments

D part-time work for people living in the suburbs

What is the main problem in running a ski resort?

     A. Difficulty in hiring land.      B. Lack of business experience.

     C. Price wars with other ski resorts.  D. Shortage of water and electricity,

Which of the following is right?

         A. People always worry that Bejing’s dry wather seldom produces snow.

         B. Beijing’s ski resort was opened in recent years.

         C. Private cars are partly the reason for Beijing’s skiing craze.

         D. Starting ski resorts dosen’t requires quite a lot of money.

The world is not coming to an end on December 21, 2012, the US space agency insisted Monday in a rare campaign to dispel widespread rumors fueled by the Internet and a new Hollywood movie.

The latest big screen offering from Sony Picture, 2012, arrives in theaters on Friday, with a 200-million-dollar production about the end of the world supposedly based on myths backed by the Mayan calendar. It is claimed that the end of time will come as a Planet X---or Nibiru---heads toward or collides with the Earth.

Some websites accuse NASA of hiding the truth on the planet’s existence, but the US space agency condemned such stories as an “Internet hoax”. “There is no factual basis for these claims,” NASA said in a question-and-anwser posting on this website. “If such a cllision were real, astronomers would have been tracking it for at least the past decade, and it would be visible by now to the naked eye. Obviously, it does not exist. Credible scientists worldwide know of no threat associated with 2012,” it insisted. “After all, our planet has been getting along just well for more than four billion years,” added NASA.

There is another planet, Eris, floating in space. But the small planet similar to Pluto will remain safely fixed in the outer solar system and it can come no closer than four billion miles to the Earth, according to NASA.

Earlier theories set the disaster for May 2003, but when nothing happened the date was moved forward to the winter in 2012 to coincide with the end of a cycle of the ancient Mayan calendar.

NASA insisted the Mayan calendar in fact does not end on December 21, 2012, as another period begins immediately afterward.

And even if the planets were to line up as some have forecast, the effect on our planet would be “negligible(unimportant)”, NASA said.

“And while comets and asteroids (小行星) have always hit the Earth, big hits are very rare,” NASA noted. The last major impact was believed to be 65 million years ago, resulting in the end of dinosaurs.

“We have already determined that there are no threatening asteroids as large as the one that killed the dinosaurs,” the space agency said.

49. ______ played a key role in the spread of the rumors.

   A. A new book              B. The Internet and a new Hollywood movie

   C. NASA                   D. An Indian calendar

50. We can infer that ______.

   A. people didn’t take the rumor seriously

   B. Planet X --- or Nibiru does exist

   C. astronomers have been tracking Planet X for over ten years

   D. the rumor caused a panic among some people

51. NASA thinks that Eris ______.

   A. might have a threat to the Earth

   B. dosen’t have any threat to the Earth

   C. is too far away to be visible

   D. is similar to our planet, where life might exist

52. Which of the following is the best title?

   A. New Hollywood movie 2012

   B. December 21, 2012, Not the end of the world

   C. End of the ancient Mayan calendar

   D. How rumors came into being
