Last week, we had a class meeting, making a survey about the phenomenon of some students copying from others’ homeworks and cheating in exams. The survey shows that 98% of the students questioning think it is a matter of honesty. However, 25% of the students think they have too many homework, and their parents and teachers care too much for their scores. As result, some of them can’t help copy from others to avoid being punished. In my opinion, this is wrong to copy from others. We students should be honest but try to finish our homework all by ourselves. As for teachers, they had better to offer students different homework and tests depending on different levels. By doing such, every student can have a sense of accomplishment.

The Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, California is one of the world's most beautiful bridges. It is also one of the most visited places in the world. Vehicles cross the bridge an average of 41 million times each year. More than 1,800 hundred million vehicles have used the bridge since it opened more than 70 years ago.
The bridge was painted “International Orange” because that color went well with the natural surroundings. The color also is easier to see in the heavy fog that often covers the area. But the Golden Gate Bridge was not named for its orange color. It was named for the body of water that it crosses, the Golden Gate Strait.
The Golden Gate Strait is the entrance to the San Francisco Bay from the Pacific Ocean. The Golden Gate Bridge links the city of San Francisco with Marin County, California.
Planning for the bridge began in the 1920s when the area around San Francisco was growing. People living in the area needed another way to get to the city besides small ferries.
Joseph Strauss was the chief engineer for the project. Work began in 1934. Mr.Strauss demanded the strongest safy protections in the history of bridge building. These included the first use of “hard hats” to protect the workers' heads and special glasses to protect their eyes.
A special safety net was suspended(挂) under the bridge. This net saved the lives of 19 men during the construction. However, 11 other workers were killed when they fell from the bridge through the net. Still, this was a new safety record for the time.
The Golden Gate Bridge opened in 1937. It extends 1,280 meters across the water. The total length is 2,737 meters. It was the largest suspension bridge in the world until 1964.That is when the Verrazano Narrows Bridge opened in New York City. Today, the Golden Gate Bridge is the ninth longest suspension bridge in the world.

An old woman diverted (转移 ) attention from the book when I was sitting in my car. She walked slowly towards my parked car with a large shoulder bag. She stopped and put a hand out to rest against the car. She gently closed her eyes, took a deep breath and wiped the sweat off her forehead. Was there a way I could do anything to help her? But I wondered if the lady noticed me sitting inside the car, she would feel embarrassed and walk away.
I stilled my body while my mind searched for answers. I turned my head towards my driver, wanting him to ask the lady if we could give her a ride. Because of my head movement, she noticed me and moved her hand away from the car. Her calm expression changed to a cautious one. I grabbed the water bottle next to me, smile, gently opened the door and offered the bottle to her. She looked at me hesitatingly, shook her head with downcast (低垂的) eyes and walked away.
I was so annoyed with myself. I should have been more careful not to move. However, she was back I opened the door and patted the seat next to me. She sat down, opened her bag and offered me a banana. I took it and offered her the water bottle again. She took it. I ate, she drank and we smiled. She rested for a couple of minutes.
Those minutes brought such tranquility (宁静) to me. She took my head in both her hands and kissed my forehead, and then she left. I was trying to help someone in distress(不幸,苦恼). In turn, I became distressed and she took away my distress and replace it with tranquility.

Everyone worries about exams, but test anxiety is in another league, causing such fear that it is impossible to do your best. Does your mind go blank in exams? Do you become distracted? Do you score much lower on exams than on homework? Then you may have what psychologists call test anxiety.
Test anxiety involves severe stress before, during or after exams, making it impossible to do your best. It can make your heart feel as if it is racing, and you may submit to (屈从于) “negative self-talk”, convincing yourself you are going to fail or upset. These stressful thoughts, not surprising, can block your brain’s ability to find what is stored in its memory, as well as making it harder to understand the questions and organize your thoughts. Is it possible to stop test anxiety?
Developing good study habits, understanding the exam format (格式) and marking scheme (评分方案) can all help to reduce anxiety. But for a greater effect, other methods are also needed, such as relaxation techniques in which you lie down before the exam, close your eyes and focus on breathing while tensing and relaxing group muscles in turn (legs, arms and stomach).
A study looked at anxious students in maths exams and concluded that writing about how worried you feel before the exam may also reduce anxiety.
Be as prepared as possible before the exam, arrive early, and repeat positive statements such as: “Everyone feels anxious; I know I can do this.” Just as in a race, do not look at what everyone else around you is doing. Focus on the paper in front of you. Do a quick skim to evaluate the feel of the overall test. If you feel nervous, take deep breaths and remember that it is just a test.
1.Paragraph 2 mainly talks about ________.
A. what causes test anxiety
B. how to deal with test anxiety
C. what effects test anxiety brings about
D. why everyone worries about exams
2.According to Paragraph 4, a study is mentioned to ________.
A. explain it is easy to get around test anxiety
B. introduce another good approach to handling test anxiety
C. confirm that maths exams are more likely to cause anxiety
D. make a conclusion about how to overcome test anxiety
3.Which of the following shows the structure of the text?
