    Should we always believe others’ dissuasion (劝阻)?
    Even the great Thomas Alva Edison discouraged his friend, Henry Ford, from pursuing his idea of a motorcar. Convinced of the worthlessness of the idea, Edison invited Ford to come and work for him. Ford remained devoted and tirelessly pursued his dream. Although his first attempt resulted in a vehicle without reverse gear (倒车装置), Henry Ford knew he could make it happen. And, of course, he did.
    "Forget it," the experts advised Madame Curie. They agreed radium was a scientifically impossible idea. However, Marie Curie insisted, "I can make it happen."
    Let's not forget Orville and Wilbur Wright. Journalists, friends, and even their father laughed at the idea of an airplane. "What a silly and crazy way to spend money. Leave flying to the birds," they said. "Sorry," the Wright brothers responded. "We have a dream, and we can make it happen." As a result, a place called Kitty Hawk, North Carolina, became the setting for the realization of their "ridiculous" idea.
    Finally, as you read these accounts under the magnificent lighting of your environment, consider the condition of Benjamin Franklin. He was warned to stop the foolish experimenting with lighting. “What an absurdity and waste of time! Why, nothing could do better than the useful oil lamp” .

    Believe in yourself and don’t mind any dissuasion
    Many great people have heard others’ dissuasion on their way to success, and sometimes the words of dissuasion come from great people and friends. For example, Edison once discouraged Henry Ford.
    Not only ordinary people but also great people make mistakes. In our life, we should believe in ourselves but not be discouraged by any kind of dissuasion. Two years ago, I was weak in maths so I hoped to improve it. But several of my friends said that girls would never master the subject and advised me to spend more time on other subjects. I turned to my maths teacher and then made up my mind to work hard at the subject. And now I find it not so difficult at all.
    From my story, I have realized that success comes from hard work. What it important is to believe in ourselves and stick to what we are doing.

    There is a battle in our daily life. Two forces are fighting with each other again and again. They never stop until you are buried in the earth. We called them insistence and giving up. They are like twins. One is angle, and the other is a demon..

Second, I will write an article every week which is at least two hundred words.     Nevertheless, according to my strategy, the first day, I should wake up at 6 a.m. to memorize at least twenty words. The alarm clock rings for me; I should get rid of my bed in order to study. Suddenly, “Giving up” came and whispered to me. “What about a five-minute prolong sleeping? How soft, comfortable this bed is! But Ms Insistence urged me, “Don’t listen to him; Come on, let’s carry out our plan.” Her voice is sweet, but not what I need.
    Time flies! If we can’t seize every opportunity to appreciate time, Mr. Giving up will win all the time. Insistence of your plan, your dream may not be accomplished successfully, but giving up, you are sure to fail in life. (237w)

    A 71-year-old man, surnamed Wang, in Northwest China Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous (adj. 自治的) Region who won a lottery jackpot(彩票奖金) of 5 million yuan has donated all of the money to charity. On November 21 when Wang arrived at the lottery complex in Urumqi to receive his prize, he donated the first batch of 500,000 yuan to a charity project. It aims to finance schooling of students in poverty.
    “ I donated the money because I want to help others and I am very happy to do something for our society, ” he said. “Too much money means nothing to me. But this money will be very helpful for those in need.”
    The old man was a retired worker with the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps in Changji. His pension was only 600 yuan per month, but he said the income from his pension was enough for him.
    Wang came to Xinjiang in 1956 from North China’s Henan Province. He had been engaged in farming before retirement. His wife has passed away. Wang revealed he did not tell his only daughter, who lived outside Changji, he had won the prize.
    “ My daughter lives in a good condition,” he said. “ I will not leave a single penny to her. Those people that urgently need help deserve the prize.”
    Although his pension was merely 600 yuan per month, Wang claimed he never said no to others who wanted to borrow money from him if he could afford it. He began to buy welfare lottery tickets in 2003 when he learned that lottery jackpot would help those in need.
