【题目】The percentage of women working in technology has decreased since the 1990s.Women make up only a quarter of all jobs in computer and math professions.I think all girls should learn how to code(编码).Here is why.
If we want to be part of one of the fastest growing job markets out there,we need to jump on board!Over the last ten years the growth in STEM jobs has been three times faster than that in non-STEM fields.Women will never be able to keep up with men in the professional workplace if we don't join the fastest growing fields.
Just like hundreds of years ago, people who could read and write controlled the future, and now those who are at home with technology will shape the world we live in.You can use coding in every aspect of your life, even if you don't enter a field that involves coding. You cant use coding to create your own website or to program games. You can animate your YouTube videos,or make graphic designs.Programming is now being used in every profession, including medicine and airplane design.
You can have fun creating your own website, programming a robot to get the remote for you when you're lying on the couch, photoshop pictures to change the color scheme to something better than the Instagram filters, and so much more.Coding allows you to realize your wildest dream, and create anything you can imagine.Coding allows you to rule the world.
It's not very hard to learn to code. You could learn to code on YouTube,in the Girls Who Code club;you could take a free course online on Code Academy;you could even just Google how to code.
You learned to read, you learned to drive-now learn to code.

There is much discussion about the necessity of daily homework for students. Some say homework is necessary since only practice 【1】 (make) perfect, while others disagree. In my opinion, daily homework is necessary for students. However, this might be misleading that one may believe all forms of homework 【2】(be) necessary. Actually, only proper amount of homework in proper form is _【3】 (accept); some homework may not only fail to help the students, but on 【4】 contrary bore them so much _【5】 they may lose their interest in studying. “Proper” homework, in
my opinion, should vary in its forms, 【6】 might be some extensive reading, a paper, or even just a game, as well as other ordinary exercise. And it should leave enough _【7】 (free) to the students so that they could do things they really like to do with selfmotivation, rather than unwillingness. We should always remember that homework is something for us to guide the students, rather than _【8】 (drive) them. 【题目】Scientists investigated why Ebola virus is so deadly when it spreads from animals to humans and then from human-to-human contact. The research team looked at the Zaire Ebola virus in an animal system to understand how it gains strength. This virus is responsible for the current outbreak in West Africa. They found thatinitiallythe animal systems were notaffected by the virus, but succeeding transmission(传送) into other animals caused the virus to “hot up” and become more severe.
The team analyzed the viruses at different stages and were able to identify several changes in its geneticmaterial that were associated with increased disease.
Professor Julian Hiscox, who led the study from the University’s Institute of Infection and Global Health, explains: “The work tells us that theevolutionary goal of Ebola virus is to become more fatal.”
“We were able to show through genetic analysis which parts of the virus are involved in this process. The information we have gathered will now allow us to monitor for such changes in an outbreak as well as develop future treatment strategies.”
Professor Roger Hewson, leading the study from Public Health England, Porton Down, said: “Ebola virus is such adestructiveinfection to the people affected by the disease and the economy of West Africa.”
“Our understanding of Ebola virus biology is way behind that of other viruses and ourcooperation shows how we can bring together our specialists’ skills to close this knowledge gap.”
Professor Miles Carroll, a co-author of the work, said: “This study has allowed the team to be at the forefront of developing methodologies to analyze patient samples recently taken by the European Mobile Laboratory from West Africa to understand disease evolution during the current outbreak.”

【题目】Dr. Michael Prager, a leading Botox expert, said that a growing number of women are developing something called “computer face”. He also mentioned that professionals who worked long hours in front of a screen were ending up with saggy jowls(颚骨下垂),“turkey neck” and deep-set wrinkles(皱纹) on their forehead and around their eyes.
The Botox expert said that, of all his clients, office workers were most likely to show premature (过早的)signs of aging. “ If you are one of the unfortunate people who frown(皱眉)while you are concentrating on the screen then, over time, you will inevitably(不可避免地) end up with frown lines.’’ Dr. Prager said. “What is perhaps more surprising is the number of women with saggy jowls because they are sitting in one position for so long. If you spend most of the time looking down then the neck muscles shorten and go saggy, eventually giving you a second neck.”
Dr. Prager, who has a practice near Harley Street in London, said he encourages his clients(客户) to put a mirror next to their computer so they can see if they are frowning at the screen. “When people are stressed or thinking hard about something, then they will often put on a ‘grumpy(脾气暴躁的)face’ without even knowing what they are doing. When my clients put a mirror next to their desk, they are often shocked by the angry, frowning face which stares back at them.”
He said, “The women I am seeing at the moment have only been using computers at work for the last decade or so. But women in their 20s have grown up with them and use them for every single task. I think the problem is going to become much, much worse. In another ten years, they could be looking quite awful.”
Dr. Prager said there were several simple steps which could avoid “computer face” such as regular screen breaks and stretching the neck muscles. And, of course, there was always Botox. He said that , after a couple of sessions of Botox, the habit of “grumpy face” could be broken.
【1】According to the passage, which of the following are signs of aging?
A. Saggy jowls and short necks
B. Turkey neck and frown lines
C. Deep-set wrinkles and angry faces
D. Second neck and stressed muscles
【2】Why does Dr. Prager suggest a mirror for his clients?
A. To be aware of their “computer face”
B. To see if they have got a second neck
C. To make sure their make-up is perfect
D. To find more signs of premature aging
【3】From the last 2 paragraphs, we can know that_____
A. “computer face” is avoidable
B. we should give up using computers
C. we should break the habit of “grumpy face”
D. the younger generation is worse at computers

【题目】Urban swans might be born with a daredevil gene that makes them less fearful of humans, compared with their rural colleagues.
A study has found swans living in cities tend to be bolder and it is at least partly determined by a gene called DRD4. Birds with this gene could therefore be better adapted to settling in more populated areas, while more timid(胆怯的)swans would escape to less inhabited regions.
It could help to explain why swans in public parks and on urban rivers have a reputation for being so aggressive towards humans - they are simply not afraid of us.
Biologists from some universities in Australia, tracked and collected blood samples from black swans living in two wetlands near cities. One group of swans lived in a recreational urban park, while the other occupied a waste-water processing site out of town. The two areas were less than 20 miles apart.Later, from 2011 through 2013, the researchers started systematically scaring the swans at both sites. The researchers approached the birds and calculated how close they could get before they flew away.As expected, they noticed that while rural swans started flying away if a human was closer than 119 meters, the scientists could come as close to urban swans as 39 meters before taking off.
Analyses of the blood samples, in fact, showed that 83 per cent of the less cautious swans presented the same genetic DRD4 variation(变异)while rural swans have different genetic makeups resulting in more wariness(谨慎,小心).
The researchers conclude that swans with the bold variation of the gene might choose to live in urban environments, as they tend to be less bothered by human presence.
【1】The underlined word in paragraph 1 means__________.
A. timid B. cautious
C. bold D. stubborn
【2】What’s the difference between rural swans and urban ones?
A. The rural swans carry more DRD4.
B. The urban swans are more friendly.
C. The urban swans are less scared of people.
D. The rural swans are aggressive towards humans.
【3】What does DRD4 refer to ?
A. a kind of blood. B. a kind of food.
C. a kind of genetic variation. D. a kind of swan.
【4】What does the 4th paragraph mainly talk about?
A. The living habit of swans.
B. The living environment of swans.
C. The contribution of the biologists.
D. The process and result of the research.
