【题目】Camping Tips

Camping offers the quietness of escape.1Because exercise and the beauty of nature can help people relax from their busy life.

Whether you're in the woods, in the desert, or climbing mountains, you'll want to keep some survival skills in mind to make sure of a safe trip.2Different terrains (地势) carry different challenges. For example, putting up a tent on sand is very different from setting it up on land, and if you don't have the right equipment, you could find yourself sleeping under the stars on a windy beach.

3For example, everything from poisonous (有毒的) plants to dangerous wildlife. As you plan your trip, ask an outdoors expert at your local sporting goods store for advice, go online to research where you'll be going, or find some books in the library.

A day or so before you leave, check local weather forecasts, so you won't end up in the path of a hurricane, flooding or other natural disasters.4Besides, it will also help you know whether to give up the area.

If you hike to your campsite, practise walking with your fully packed backpack to get an idea of how the pack fits. This helps to prevent the case when you are too tired to walk with it. It's also a good idea to practice walking in the shoes you'll be wearing.

5If you're hiking in far areas with no dustbins, you'll need to carry out your rubbish and other things. Make this easier by packing as lightly as you can.

A. Know the camping environment.

B. Taking enough money with you is necessary.

C. Remembering a hiking trip will bring you much pleasure.

D. You'll also need to be prepared for any possible dangers.

E. Knowing the weather will help you find out how you can prepare.

F. And remember that saying “Take only pictures. Leave only footprints”

G. If it's combined with (与……结合) the exercise of a hiking trip, it's good for body and mind.

故选A

【题目】Standing desks have become common across Silicon Valley, offering health benefits to those willing to work on their feet. However, due to their high price, they have failed to catch on until now. Recently, Ikea has brought out Bekant convertible(可改变的)standing desk that can become a normal desk at the touch of a button. The $500 adjustable desk can transform from a standard desk to a standing one, and Ikea hopes it could make the standing desk mainstream.

Experts say that changing from a seated to a standing desk can improve productivity. Similar desks have become a common sight at tech firms such as Google, where some employees have even installed treadmill (跑步机)and bicycle desks.

The desk is not the first “convertible” on the market. As early as 2013, Stir Kinect brought out an adjustable desk. The $3,890 Stir Kinect desk has a motor to raise and lower itself, converting it into a standing desk or a traditional desk. The desk can even be programmed to move up and down slightly, making it appear to take a gentle breath to remind the user to change their position. To move between sitting and standing positions, owners simply double tap on the screen. The desk can learn the user’s preferences over time and suggest the best seating position.

The Stir Kinect desk was created by a team of ex-Apple and Disney engineers. It has a built-in touch screen to control and track movement, and can tell users exactly how many calories they burn by standing during their working day. It also has devices containing power points and USB ports for charging phones, to keep cables hidden.

【题目】 When I was reading a post about taking someone to the movies, something happened a couple of years ago suddenly hit me.

I used to drink Cokes and they had a competition where there was a code inside the bottle cap. You might win something so long as you went to a website and entered the code. I won some free Cokes. But what astonished and delighted me was the Grand Prize I won then.

The Grand Prize was free movies for a year. They pointed out that one movie a week was what free movies for a year meant. All of the tickets were valid(有效的) for one year from the day I received them. So I must use them in the following year. I used quite a few taking friends to movies we all wanted to see.

But the best thing I did with them was that I donated 20 tickets (all I had left by that time) to the local Women’s Transition House, a place where women and children could go when avoiding a bad situation in general and get help to make a new start.

My workplace team had decided to help people in need, so we collected donations for that particular New Year’s Day. I knew that the Women’s Transition House provided some childcare for the women so they could go for job interviews and things like that.

I put those tickets in a box and wrote a note on the outside, asking the Women’s Transition House staff to give movie tickets to women there over the holidays to have some fun to do, with or without their children, which made me really happy.

1How did the author get the tickets?

A.By visiting a website by chance.B.By using some Cokes to get them.

C.By getting a code at the bottom of a bottle.D.By winning the prize for drinking Cokes.

2How many tickets did the author and his friends use?

A.About 22.B.About 32.C.About 52.D.About 365.

3Which of the following best describe the author ?

A.Lucky and caring.B.Creative and careful.

C.Responsible and cheerful.D.Thankful and generous.

4Which of the following proverb can best explain the main idea of this article

A.The roses in their hands, the flavor in mine.

B.Good luck favors those who are always ready.

C.Actions speak louder than words.

D.God helps those who help themselves.
