Dear Editor,
Recently the ¡°Red envelope¡± fever has swept our nation. People use red envelopes to express their best wishes or even use it to repay others. Especially during the Spring Festival, people preferred to snatch red envelopes rather than watch the Spring Festival Gala.
From my point of view, it is reasonable to think sending red envelopes is a good way to strengthens the relationship when people¡¯s beloved ones, relatives or friends don¡¯t live in the same play. Besides, sending red envelops is really a Chinese tradition. To some extent, the ¡°Red envelops¡± fever can keep our tradition. However, every coin has two sides. We should have a correct attitude towards it. Paying too much attention to snatching red envelopes might cause people to ignore the true world.
People¡¯s relationship lies in the true love in the daily life instead of a certain activity. Faced with the ¡°Red envelopes¡± fever, we should calm down.
Yours sincerely,
Li Hua

This festival is ¡¾2¡¿ cheerful occasion, for on this day, the dead are said ¡¾3¡¿ (return) to their homes and they are welcomed by the living. As they are expected to be hungry after their long journey, food is laid out for them. Specially-made lanterns are hung outside each house to help the dead to find ¡¾4¡¿ way. All night long, people dance and sing. In the early morning, the food that had been laid out for the dead ¡¾5¡¿ (throw) into a river or into the sea as it is considered ¡¾6¡¿ (luck) for anyone living to eat it. In towns that are near the sea, the tiny lanterns ¡¾7¡¿ had been hung in the streets the night before are placed into the water when the festival is over. Thousands of lanterns slowly drift out to sea ¡¾8¡¿ (guide) the dead on their return journey to the world. I was telling my boy Sonny the story of the hare (ÍÃ×Ó) and the tortoise (ÎÚ¹ê). At the end I said, ¡°Son, remember: Be slow and steady (Õò¶¨µÄ), and that will win the race. Don¡¯t you think there¡¯s something to learn from the tortoise?¡±
Sonny opened his eyes wide, ¡°Do you mean next time when I¡¯m entering for the 60-metre race I should wish that Billy, Tony and Sandy would all fall asleep halfway?¡±
I was shocked, ¡°But the tortoise didn¡¯t wish that the hare would fall asleep!¡±
¡°He must have wished that,¡± Sonny said, ¡°Otherwise how could he be so foolish as to race with the hare? He knew very well the hare ran a hundred times faster than he himself did.¡±
¡°He didn¡¯t have such a wish,¡± I insisted. ¡°He won the race by perseverance (¼áÈ̲»°Î), by pushing on steadily.¡±
Sonny thought a while. ¡°That¡¯s a lie,¡± he said. ¡°He won it because he was lucky. If the hare hadn¡¯t happened to fall asleep, the tortoise would never have won the race. He could be as steady as you like, or a hundred times steadier, but he¡¯d never have won the race. That¡¯s for sure.¡±
I gave up. Today¡¯s children are not like what we used to be. They¡¯re just hopeless.

A. he liked tortoises while his son liked hares.
B. they disagreed about whether the tortoise was foolish.
C. he liked the story of the hare and the tortoise while his son didn¡¯t.

¡¾2¡¿Sonny believed that the tortoise ________.
A. in fact did win the race luckily
B. took a chance by agreeing to run a race
C. was not given a fair chance in the race
D. won the race by his own hard working

A. boys who were unknown to Sonny¡¯s father
B. boys who Sonny has run races with before

A wide range of factors can lead to exam stress for a child. However, such stress can be prevented if parents encourage their children to complete their studies on time. And if they enjoy studying, the stress can be prevented or at least reduced. ¡¾1¡¿ .
Help him or her prepare. Teach your child the importance of discipline. Long before the exams, you need to have all the facts regarding your child¡¯s progress and a clear picture of his or her academic status. Based on this, you can help your child create a routine before the exam. ¡¾2¡¿ .
Allow your child some free time. ¡¾3¡¿ . It is part of regular life, and especially during exams, when stress levels are running high, it is natural for your child to feel like having free time at some point during the day. Let him or her have it, and just do anything with in. If your child is just sitting around, don¡¯t disturb his or her thoughts.
¡¾4¡¿ . Every household has conflict, especially when children are involved. Exams are a time when you need to be a little helpful. Be firm in maintaining the regular schedule and discipline, but at the same time be understanding towards your child¡¯s needs. ¡¾5¡¿ . Give your children the freedom to study in his or her own way. But make sure that at the end of the day everything required has been studied.
A. Don¡¯t allow arguments over little things to build up.
B. Here re a few tips on how to help your child.
C. Avoid conflict.
D. This ¡°me time¡± is very important.
E. They feel stressed just because their classmates are worried.
F. This will reduce stress by giving your child time to prepare.
G. Teach your child the importance of healthy competition.

Recently we have held a class meeting to discuss what is considering to be honorable behavior and which is shameful. To be frank, some students don¡¯t respect their teacher or parents. Some didn¡¯t take their studies serious and cheat in exams. There is some rubbish around, make the school dirty. It is really a pity to see these things in your school. We think honorable to obey school rules and care much of our class. It is also worthy of praise to study hard. On the other hand, it is shameful to break school rules, to be selfish or to make no effort to achieve a success.

¡¾ÌâÄ¿¡¿Quicker and faster 3-D printers have allowed not just amazing objects to be created, but have started to affect how doctors treat patients.
We¡¯ve put together a list of some of the most amazing medical breakthroughs made possible with 3-D printing.
Life-Saving Airway
In 2013, doctors created a new airway for kaiba Gionfriddo, a boy born with an airway that kept collapsing (ήÏÝ). To save his life doctors printed tiny tubes to join together in different shapes and sizes until one finally worked for Kaiba. It was placed in Kaiba¡¯s bronchus (Ö§Æø¹Ü) so that it no longer collapsed. Even more remarkably, once the plant was placed it could stay there. It¡¯s designed to eventually be absorbed into the body.
New ¡°Bionic¡± Hands
One of the most remarkable ways 3-D printing is now being used is as a way to create prosthetics (¼ÙÖ«). A boy born without an arm named Alex was able to get a new¡°bionic¡±hand thanks to it. Last year a college student spent 8 weeks coming up with a special prosthetic design that only cost a few hundred dollars in materials. He said he wanted to create a prosthetic far cheaper than other choices that can run tens of thousands of dollars.
A practice Heart
In Seattle, doctors have been able to use 3-D printing technology to¡°practice¡±risky operations so that they will face fewer surprises in the operating room. Kami Sutton was born with her heart¡°in the wrong place¡±. For a recent operation her doctor was able to take many scans of Sutton¡¯ s heart and print out a model. ¡°Kami¡¯s heart is truly one-of-a-kind,¡±Dr. Stephan Seslar, a heart disease specialist said. ¡°Operating on her without understanding the structure of her heart better could be very dangerous.¡±
A New Skull
A U.K. man was able to have part of his skull rebuilt thanks to a 3-D printer. Stephen Power broke his cheek bones in a crash. To help Power his doctors instead created 3-D bones all carefully printed in the shape of his face. ¡°This is really the first time we¡¯ve taken it to this stage, where everything has been planned and modeled in advance ¡ª and worked sweetly,¡±said Adrian Sugar, a doctor.
¡¾1¡¿What is special about the 3-D printed airway?
A£®It uses high-tech materials.
B£®It varies in shapes and sizes.
C£®It can be absorbed by the body.
D£®It can prevent any disease in the airway.
¡¾2¡¿What is the advantage of the new¡°bionic¡±hand?
A£®Its price. B£®Its effects.
C£®Its materials. D£®Its shape design.
¡¾3¡¿How can 3-D printing technology help doctors in the operating room?
A£®It helps them get better scans.
B£®It guarantees the success of operations.
C£®It enables them to practice and learn more.
D£®It helps them to deal with patents, anxiety.
¡¾4¡¿What does Adrian Sugar think of the new skull printed by 3-D technology?
A£®He has doubts about it.
B£®He thinks highly of it.
C£®It needs to be better planned.
D£®It functions well but needs improving.

We all get affected by advertisements in magazines and on radio and television. They promise us and make us believe¡¾1¡¿ we can buy ideal things with our money.
