    13．What is America's number one sport？Can I still say baseball？You could make that statement 30years ago，but things have changed．Baseball of course has the richest history of all sports．Bu t with the popularity of basketball and American football，there can now be an argument on which sport is American's number one sport．
    Basketball really took a turn in the 1980's as Magic Johnson and Larry Bird took the NBA to another level．Of course，basketball was already popular and had seen such stars as Jerry West and Dr．J，but the real breakthrough （突破） came in the 1980's and from there it really took off with Michael Jordan into the 90's．Basketball has even become very global now as many NBA stars competed in the Olympics and faced no competition．Today，they had better be ready because there are so many talents in other countries and the competition will be stiff
    Like basketball，American football has always been a favorite of many sports fans and its popularity has grown widely．The ratings（收视率） that Super Bowl  Sunday brings are amazing．They'have even talked about making Super Bowl Sunday a national holiday．
    In the year 2050，basketball and American football will have history like baseball's rich history and maybe American national sport They have been trying for years，but it is not going to happen
    So what is American's number one sport？To me baseball will always be Americans'hobby-rich in history and many memories for people of all ages．If you have any comments on this subject，do give your opinions．

    The story isn't only about Nell and her grandfather，but also the people who are connected to them directly or indirectly．There is Richard Swiveller，a careless young man who is a friend of Nell's older brother，who wants Swiveller to marry Nell for the fortune he thinks she has．Daniel Quilp is a cruel moneylender，who manages to fool the grandfather into borrowing large sums of money from him．There is honest Kit，a boy employed at the shop，who becomes a victim even though he never harms other people．Kit desires to help Nell，whom he considers an angel that has always inspired the best in him．The mysterious Bevis Marks，who is a generous customer to some people and an enemy to others，also has his own reasons for looking after Nell and her grandfather．
    Unlike Dickens'other works，The Old Curiosity Shop is a book of contrasts：the purity of Nell compared to the dishonesty of Quilp，fresh air and scenic villages to the polluted，stone-covered city，etc．Even people's reaction to the book presented a cruel contrast．At first，Nell Trent was praised and considered Dickens'best character．Later，she was criticized by many well-known people like Oscar Wilde．While characters in Dickens'other books are moving towards a better future，Nell and her grandfather are fleeing for their life and their story is moving towards a sad ending．

    My thoughts were pushing me towards pride and ignorance when the truth was evident：this missing cheese bun is a gift．For a homeless person who is hungry and cold．For me to overcome a little bit of ego and pass along so much kindness．It was clear that the homeless person who would receive this cheese bun needed it just as much as I did．
    Just as the doors opened at my stop I grabbed（抓） the cheese bun and exited the subway．It felt awesome and I didn't care if people were looking or what they thought．Instead of going directly to my office as usual，I walked a few more blocks up to Queen's Park where I have seen a homeless man sitting outside many times on my walk from the gym to my office．I always wanted to give him something．There he was this morning，wrapped in a sleeping bag．
