7.Does Fame Drive You Crazy?
Although being famous might sound like a dream come true,today's stars,feeling like zoo animals,face pressures that few of us can imagine.They are at the center of much of the world's attention.Paparazzi (狗仔队) camp outside their homes,cameras ready.Tabloids(小报) publish thrilling stories about their personal lives.Just imagine not being able to do anything without being photographed or interrupted for a signature!
According to psychologist Christina Villarreal,celebrities-famous people-worry constantly about their public appearance.Eventually,they start to lose track of who they really are,seeing themselves the way their fans imagine them,not as the people they were before everyone knew their names."Over time,"Villarreal says,"they feel separated and alone."
The phenomenon of tracking celebrities has been around for ages.In the 4th century BC,painters followed Alexander the Great into battle,hoping to picture his victories for his admirers.When Charles Dickens visited America in the 19th century,his sold-out readings attracted thousands of fans,leading him to complain about his lack of privacy.Tabloids of the 1920s and 1930s ran articles about film-stars in much the same way that modern tabloids and websites do.
Being a public figure today,however,is a lot more difficult than it used to be.Superstars cannot move about without worrying about photographers with modern cameras.When they say something silly or do something ridiculous,there is always the Internet to spread the news in minutes and keep their"story"alive forever.
If fame is so troublesome,why aren't all celebrities running away from it?The answer is there are still ways to deal with it.Some stars stay calm by surrounding themselves with trusted friends and family or by escaping to remote places away from big cities.They focus not on how famous they are but on what they love to do or whatever made them famous in the first place.
Sometimes a few celebrities can get a little justice.Still,even stars who enjoy full justice often complain about how hard their lives are.They are tired of being famous already.

32.It can be learned from the passage that stars todayB.
A.are often misunderstood by the public
B.can no longer have their privacy protected
C.spend too much on their public appearance
D.care little about how they have come into fame
33.What is the main idea of Paragraph 3?B
A.Great heroes of the past were generally admired.
B.The problem faced by celebrities has a long history.
C.Well-known actors are usually targets of tabloids.
D.Works of popular writers often have a lot of readers.
34.What makes it much harder to be a celebrity today?A

35.What is the author's attitude toward modern celebrity?D
A.Disappointed.

12.Both Males And Females Have Right to Choose Personality
Recently,the debate about males'masculinity (男子汉气概) has been quite heated.Some people think that males should be different from females and show their masculinity while others hold the view that too much emphasis on masculinity can lead to male violence and an excessive desire for power and status.
While everyone has his or her own opinions,what really matters is that one should have the right to choose their own personality-whether masculine or feminine.Besides,it is important that everyone should respect other people's choices,and should not look down upon others because they do not follow the mainstream.
One of my college classmates has suffered discrimination owing to his personality and clothes.He is a shy boy with a soft voice and he likes dressing in pink shirts,which makes him a little girlish.Some students often talk in the back,saying that he had no masculinity,and some even doubted that he might be gay.During group activities,some students deliberately alienate him.This drove him crazy.He complained to me,"Personal behavior and clothing are my own choices.Why can't other students respect my choice and tolerate my difference?"
Indeed,no one can push others to be manly,but should learn to respect difference.The same goes for females as no one can force females to be feminine.
In the traditional concept,females should be gentle and soft.However,in modern society,more and more women are beginning to focus on their own rights,and have their own thoughts.Some women have made extraordinary achievements in some fields.But brave,decisive and independent females with remarkable achievements at work are often labeled as strong women,which has bad implications.Some people will say these females are too strong and lack the femininity women are supposed to have.
Meanwhile,females'clothing choices are often judged by others.Women these days often dress for comfort.However,this kind of clothing is criticized for not having female charm.There is even a prejudice that females who dress this way are often not accpeted.
In modern society,both males and females have the right to choose whether they want to be masculine or feminine rather than be limited by social stereotypes (老套) based on gender.Only in this way can we further harbor the benefits of gender equality and freedom of choice.

67.The author's classmate has suffered discrimination becauseC.
A.he seems a little crazy     B.he doubts everything
C.he behaves like a girl       D.he complains too much
68.The strong women are looked down upon becauseD.
A.they focus too much on their job    B.they never do housework at home
C.they fight for their rights bravely    D.they are powerful rather than soft
69.It can be inferred from the passage thatC.
A.people should always follow the mainstream
B.women are still the weakest in today's society
C.freedom of personality choice needs promoting
D.gender equality is something possible nowadays

(75)DThis would make them think how life is like without saying what's on their mind to all their friends on the Internet.A break would also make them more active,like socializing in person.This would finally help them focus better in school or in work.Although about 80% of people who take a break would come back to Facebook within days.

A.And 2.5 billion photos are added each month.
B.Wasting it on Facebook is not encouraging in any way.
C.This statistic isn't that bad but some people spend about 3-5 hours.
D.It is time people should take a break from Facebook once in a while.

6.Riding Day
As I watch a single horse running across the field,I think back to when I saw my first horse. She was standing in a field."Hold out your hand.Gentle now,"my grandfather said.Nervously,I did.Stepping toward me,she turned her head to inspect me with one coffee-colored eye.At that moment,I could have known she smiled. This was my first childhood memory,in which I realized that I would soon learn to ride her,and in my heart I felt like a true Comanche.
For days after our first meeting,I sat in the field with my horse.I studied her as she studied me.I learned which grasses she preferred to eat; she would lift her head into the gentle spring wind that often blew across the field.
Finally, the time came to ride her.It was a tribal(部落的) tradition for younger men to spend most of their days hunting. This left the teaching to the elders, like my grandfather. These lessons were extremely important.Every boy was put on a horse before he could walk and was expected to be a skilled rider by age five. When the elders felt a boy was an expert,he was able to have his own horse.
On riding day,I told my horse that we both had much to prove today, and I remembered nuzzling her and kissing her long face. When she nuzzled me back,I knew she understood.I felt the days spent in the field with her had given me a strange belief in her--in us.I encouraged her to move, and with her head held high, she carried me.She was as proud of me as I was of her.
We succeeded. The elders of the tribe announced me a skilled horseman.I stood in a circle of men from my tribe.I could feel my heart beating quickly. Then the moment came when my father presented me with my first bow and arrow.I had never before seen so much pride in his eyes.
Today my father leads the horse and his grandson--my son--climb upon his own horse in golden sunlight. My father insisted on teaching him to ride and doing it in the way of our people.Proudly,I stepped aside to let him do so.I smile, cherishing the details of this moment as much as I have always cherished the memories of my own riding day.
