A man was walking along the street when he saw a woman struggling with a large package(包裹). It was half in and half out of her car.
He was a         kind of man so he went up to the woman and said, "Let me give you a hand with that package. It looks very        ."
"That's very kind of you," the woman said. "I'm having a lot of         with it. I think it's stuck."
"Together we'll soon move it," the man said. "I'll get into the         and take the other end."
"Oh, that's very        . Thank you so much," the woman said gratefully. He got into the back         of the car and took hold of the other end of the package.
"Right," he said, "I'm ready." And he began to push with all his        .
For several minutes the man and the woman struggled with the package. Soon they were both red in face and out of        .
"Let's pause for a minute," the man said. "You're right. It really is        ."
They paused for a few         to wipe the perspiration from their faces and get their breath back.
Then the man said, "Let's try again. Are you        ?"
They         took hold of the package again.
"One, two, three!" the man said, and again they         their struggle with the package.
At last, when they were both        , the man said, "I'm sorry, but the package really seems to be        stuck. I don't think there's any way we can get it out of the car."
"Get it out of the car!" the woman cried. "You fool! I'm trying to get it in!"

Let me give you a hand with that package可知他看见这个女的很费力地和包裹较劲,所以他很热心的提供帮助,说明他是一个乐意助人的人。故A正确。
A问题;B麻烦,困扰;C疼痛,痛苦;D担心;have some trouble with sth做某事有困难;本句是指她很难把这个包裹放进车里,好像包裹被卡住了。
It was half in and half out of her car可知她是想把包裹放进车子。
Out of breath上气不接下气;根据10空后get their breath back.
I think it's stuck."

Tess was a precocious(早熟) eight-year-old girl when she heard her Mom and Dad taling about her little brother,Andrew.____ __she knw was that he was very sick and they were completely _____money. They were moving to an apartment complex next month because Daddy didn’t have the money for the doctor’s bills and their house .Only a(n) _____could save him now.
Tess went to her bedroom and pulled a glass jelly(果冻) jar from its hiding place. She poured all the     out on the floor and counted carefully. Three times, even. The total had to be absolutely exact. No      here for mistakes. After carefully placing the coins back in the jar, she slipped out of the back door, and     her way six blocks to a chemist’s.
She waited patiently for the pharmacist (药剂师) to give her some     ,but he was too busy at this moment. Tess twisted her feet to make a noise. Nothing. She cleared her       with the most awful sound she could muster. No good.
Finally the pharmacist asked in an      tone of voice, “What do you want? I’m talking to my brother from Chicago      I haven’t seen in ages,” he said without waiting for a reply to his question.
“Well, I want to talk to you about my brother,” Tess answered back in the same annoyed tone. “His name is Andrew and he has something bad      inside his head and my daddy says only a miracle can save him now. So how much does a miracle cost?”
“We don’t sell miracles here, little girl. I’m sorry,        I can’t help you,” the pharmacist said, his voice        a little.
There was a man there whose clothes were admirable. He asked the little girl, “What kind of a miracle does your brother need?”
“I don’t know” Tess replied with tears in her eyes. “I just know he's        sick and Mommy says he needs an operation. But my Daddy can’t pay       it, so I want to use my money.”
“How much do you have?” asked the man. “One dollar and eleven cents,” Tess answered.
“A dollar and eleven cents ― the       price of a miracle for your little brother,” smiled the man, “Take me to        you live. Let’s see if I have the kind of miracle you need.”
That well-dressed man was Dr. Carlton Armstrong, a surgeon, specializing in neurosurgery The operation was completely        charge and it wasn’t long before Andrew was home again and did well.
Mom and Dad were happy but they wonder how much the operation would have       . Tess smiled. She knew exactly how much a miracle cost…one dollar and eleven cents…plus the        of a little child.

I was fat kid who grew into an overweight adult. I was      laughed at for being heavier than the other kids,      me feeling shy. I tried several diets, but      worked, and I     gaining weight. Another factor        my weight gain was my love for cooking, especially rich, high-fat desserts, which I enjoyed preparing and, of course, eating.
When I finished high school at the age of 18, I weighed 215 pounds.       the self-confidence to go to a new, faraway school, I decided to stay close to home      going away to college. I continued with my unhealthful eating habits and felt more miserable as the weight came on, but I did nothing about it except buy larger plus-size clothes.
My turning point came 10 years later at a friend's New Year's Eve party when I was at my all-time highest weight of 330 pounds. I caught my       in a mirror and the truth      me: I was overweight and unhealthy, and unless I did something about it now, I would only get bigger and       .
After leaving the party, I thought about my past weight-loss     and realized they didn't work because they required me to abandon foods I loved. Then I would constantly think about food and binge,       the diet      my hunger and not feel deprived.
My biggest       was finding a way to fit my passion for cooking into my healthier lifestyle. At first, I tried to stay away from the kitchen to         myself thinking about food. The result: Food was all I thought about.       had to be some way to combine cooking with healthful eating. I found the     after reading several low-fat cookbooks. With some trial and error, I could modify my favorite foods and make them low in fat, yet delicious.
The pounds started coming off, and when I started exercising (usually cardio and weight training five times a week), they seemed to melt away. I didn't feel deprived, and I felt free to give my body the care and attention it     .
I lost 165 pounds over the next two years. I had many ups and downs. I was determined to go on. Another challenge to me was not to beat myself up if I ate something that was unhealthy and to take it as a sign to abandon my healthful habits.      I vowed to start again and always keep my goal in mind. Thanks to losing weight and becoming fit I am         my body and myself. I have finally found myself.

My friend Michelle is blind, but you’d never know it. She makes such good use of her other    , including her “sixth sense”,   she rarely gives the impression she’s missed anything.
Michelle looks after her children pretty much like the rest of us, except that she doesn’t push too hard on them, who really benefit a lot from her relaxed attitude. She knows when to clean the house, she moves around so fast that often the    don't realize she's blind.
I realize this the first time after my six-year-old daughter, Kayla, went to play there. When Kayla came home, she was very   about her day. She told me they had baked cookies, played games and done art projects. But she was   excited about her finger-painting project.
“Mom, guess what?”said Kayla, all smiles. “I learned how to      colors today! Blue and red make purple, and yellow and blue make green! And Michelle      with us.”
To my great      my child had learnt about color from a blind friend!
Then Kayla continued, “Michelle told me my      showed joy, pride and a sense of accomplishment. She really     what I was doing!’’ Kayla said she had never felt how good finger paints felt     Michelle showed her how to paint without looking at her paper.
I realized Kayla didn’t know that Michelle was blind. It had just never come up in conversation.
When I told her, she was      for a moment. At first, she didn’t believe me. “But Mommy, Michelle knew exactly what was in my picture!” Kayla     . And I knew my child was      because Michelle had listened to Kayla describe her artwork. Michelle had also heard Kayla's pride in her work.
We were silent for a minute. Then Kayla said slowly, “You know, Mommy, Michelle really did ‘see’ my picture. She just used my      .’’ Indeed, she uses a special type of “vision” that all mothers have.

There is a small shop about 200 meters from where I live that sells groceries, meat and other basic necessities. About 10 years ago, there was a beggar who would go into the shop every day and ask the owner for a      . The owner, although he would love to help, simply didn’t have any jobs available, so he kept        the man’s request.
This situation continued        for a few months, until the owner        to give the homeless man a job which        sweeping outside the shop. Every single day from 5 am, the homeless man was there doing the very best he could for the       , and it did earn him some pennies.       , the owner saw how good a job the man was doing and gave him a job working as a cashier. He was watched closely to make sure that he didn’t       any of the money received from the sales. He was still homeless, after all. The homeless man did a/an        job as a cashier for over 2 years, and did such a good job that he was promoted to       the finance for the whole shop.
To my      , this was the arrangement up until 2 years ago, when the owner      . In his will, he only had one      , to give the whole shop to the now stable, “homeless” man. Now, I could walk into that shop and see him working as hard as ever, with his own business that is still        and active 10 years after getting his job as a sweeper.
From this story, we can probably get the inspiration: work hard and give everything your best effort, even if it isn’t your       situation, it very well may turn out to be some day in the future.
