·Round the world tickets （RTWs）
These usually last a year and let you go to several destinations．There may be some restrictions．（限制） on where you can go by air so it's important to check out the terms and conditions of each deal and decide which one suits you best．A typical RTW for （usually） less than ￡1,000 would be:
London—Toronto—Honolulu—Fiji—Sydney—Hong Kong—London．You can get a preset RTW or make one up to yourself—this can be cheaper in some cases．
·Multi-stopover tickets
If you don't want to go around the globe but want to see several different places, multi-stopover tickets can let you make several stopovers （中途停留）．For instance, your route could be:

·Air passes
If you want to travel around within one country or even one area you can buy air passes to cover one of the following: the USA, Africa, Australia, India, the Far East, the Caribbean, South America and the Pacific．In some cases you may have to buy the air pass before you get to the country or area you want to travel in．
Short air passes last a week．Longer ones can last up to 2 months．Costs vary but start ￡150．Ask your travel agent for details．
·Spur legs
Spur legs let you go off on a detour （迂回路） on your way to your final destination．For example you might visit China on your way to Australia．

Last week, I bought an alarm system for about $ 450. It consisted of a control unit with three small units. I put the control unit in the sitting-room and fastened the other units by the front door, back door and living-room windows. The instructions told us to choose three numbers, so we chose 4, 9 and 1, the last three numbers of our telephone number.
Now I must explain how the alarm works:
l There is a power siren(警报器) in the control unit. It makes a very loud noise.

Don’t make a noise.”I went downstairs quietly. When I reached the living-room, I switched on my torch and looked round the room. Then I turned the light on. I switched the siren off and searched the rooms downstairs. There was nothing wrong except that the back door was unlocked. I locked it, reset the alarm and went back to bed. About an hour later, the alarm started again. I jumped out of bed, fell over a chair in the dark and bumped into the bedroom door. Mary woke up and started hitting me with a torch. “Hey! Wait a minute!” I whispered. “It’s only me. I’m going downstairs to see what’s wrong.”I went down into the living-room and listened for a moment. The only sound I could hear was the siren. As you may expect, life in space is much different from life on earth. So of course people need some time to get used to it. How do they live, work and play up there?
Space food keeps getting more like the food we eat at home on the earth. In the past, astronauts could eat only freeze-dried food. But now the space station has water, microwave ovens and fridges. So astronauts can eat more usual kinds of food, like fruit, vegetables and ice cream!
All people in the ISS（国际空间站）have their own rooms. There’s no gravity, so they have to attach themselves to their beds, or they’ll float away! That may seem like a hard way to sleep, but astronauts say that sleeping in space is actually not too bad.
This is more important in space than on Earth. There’s not much gravity in space. Astronauts don’t stand up, sit down or walk in space, so their muscles don’t have to work much. They exercise on bikes and other machines for about two hours every day while they’re in space. In this way, they can still keep strong and healthy when they get back home.
Easy things like brushing your teeth can be hard in space with low gravity. Water doesn’t flow out of a tap, it floats in a bubble（水泡）! Astronauts used a special hose（软管）to take showers. And when they’re finished, they use a vacuum（真空的）hose to suck the dirty water off of their bodies. How do you go to the toilet in space? They use a special “air toilet”. It uses air, not water, to take everything away.
What do astronauts do when they aren’t working? They read books, play cards, listen to music or send e-mail to their friends and family. Sometimes they just sit and look out the window. Doesn’t sound like much fun? But what if you could see planet Earth out of your window, with a sunset or sunrise every 45 minutes?
