Welcome to this meeting of the Business Studies Society．We are all really honoured to have with us today Professor Robert Barnes, the famous writer and lecturer from the University of Toronto．Many of you have heard of Professor Barnes, and almost certainly know of his book Modern Management Strategies．What is less well-known is that Professor Barnes is not just an academic, but is also a practitioner．Before obtaining his doctors degree at the University of British Columbia, he worked for several companies including IBM and ICI．The title of Professor Barness talk today is “The need for investing in human resources”．Professor Barnes has indicated that he would be delighted to answer any questions at the end of his speech．So, please give Professor Barnes a warm welcome!
