【题目】根据短文内容的理解,选择正确答案。 Art is considered by many people to be no more than a decorative means of giving pleasure. This is not always the case, however, at times, art may be seen to have a purely functional side as well. Such could be said of the sandpaintings of the Navaho Indians of the American Southwest; these have a medicinal as well as an artistic purpose.
According to Navaho traditions, one who suffers from either a mental or a physical illness has in some way disturbed or get in touch with the supernatural—perhaps a certain animal, a ghost, or the dead. To break away from this, the ill person or one of his relatives will employ a medical man called a "singer" to perform a curing ceremony which will attract a powerful supernatural being. During the ceremony, which may last from 2 to 9 days, the "singer" will produce a sandpainting on the floor. On the last day of the ceremony, the patient will sit on this sandpainting and the "singer" will rub the sick or injured parts of the patient's body with sand from a specific figure in the sandpainting. In this way the patient absorbs the power of that particular supernatural being and becomes strong. After the ceremony, the sandpainting is destroyed so its power won't harm anyone.
The art of sandpainting is handed down from old "singers". The materials used are easily found where the Navaho settle: brown, red, yellow, and white sandstone, which is ground(研磨)much as corn is made into flour. The "singer" holds a small amount of this sand in his hand and lets it flow between his fingers onto a clean, flat surface on the floor, with a steady hand and great patience. He is thus able to create designs of stylized people, snakes and other creatures that have power in the Navaho belief system. The traditional Navaho doesn't allow copying sandpaintings, since he believes the supernatural powers that taught him the craft have forbidden this; however, such reproductions can in fact be purchased today in tourist shops in Arizona and New Mexico. These are done by either Navaho Indians or by other people who wish to preserve this craft.
(1)Which of the following would be the best title for the passage?
A.The Navaho Indian
B.The Ancient "Singer"
C.Functions of Art
D.The Navaho Sandpaintings
(2)How did the "singer" treat the patient according to the passage?
A.By passing his supernatural power on to the patient.
B.By applying a magic substance to the patient's body.
C.By rubbing the patient's sick parts with sand from a sandpainting figure.
D.By destroying the sandpainting figure.
(3)The traditional Navsho does not allow copying of sandpaintings because .
A.anything copied has no effect
B.the craft only belongs to the supernatural
C.it's against Navaho belief system
D.the copying may do harm to other Navahos
(4)That the reproductions of sandpaintings are now commercially available shows .
A.people have realized the artistic value of sandpaintings
B.patients have benefited from the powerful effect of sandpaintings
C.more people have come to believe in supernatural power
D.modern technology has helped the production of sandpaintings

【题目】根据短文内容的理解,选择正确答案。 When I was two years old, I was diagnosed with a sensorineural (感觉神经) hearing loss. My mother cried when she found out—she wanted her son to be happy and able to experience everything life had to offer. I went to a special playgroup twice a week where a nurse discovered I had taught myself to read. I then attended a school for the deaf from age three to six.
I remember looking around the room there. People talked and signed to each other. I had a best friend and I did very well in class. But I told my mother that I wanted to go to the regular school with hearing people, because I felt more like a hearing person than a hearing-impaired (听力受损) one. I didn't even use sign language! I lip-read and listened with my hearing aids. After visiting a public school for a day, my mother agreed to let me go. Needless to say, I have functioned very well.
Many people don't even know I am hearing-impaired until they see my hearing aids. My girlfriend often forgets that I have any problem, and I feel fortunate that she does not look down upon people like me. The only problem I have with this hearing loss is that some people discriminate against me. The fact is that I am just as normal as anyone else. The only differences are that others need to speak up, and I have some help from my hearing aids.
The next time you see hearing-impaired people, don't feel sorry for them—that just gives them an excuse to victimize themselves and hurt their own potential. Instead, encourage them and tell them that a handicap(缺陷)only hurts a person if he or she lets it.
(1)Which is TRUE about the author when he was 5?
A.He was diagnosed with hearing loss.
B.He stayed at home with his mother.
C.He attended a school for the deaf.

(3)What was the author's problem at the regular school?
A.He couldn't catch up with others.
B.Some people looked down upon him.

A.The disabled should regard themselves as normal.
B.If a person is handicapped, he will hurt himself.
C.A normal person shouldn't hurt the handicapped.
D.A disabled person should be well treated.

How to save money to visit Shanghai Disneyland?
The “happiest place on earth” is a top destination on many families' bucket lists. But taking a vacation to Disney World can be difficult to do on a budget. There are some considerations that you can make to reduce the cost of your Disney World vacation.
1)Buy Souvenirs in Advance
Disney has influenced practically every industry, which makes it easy to find Disney items anywhere, from Walmart, Target, and your local grocery store to department stores and Amazon. You can save a lot of money by purchasing items before your trip at these less-expensive places than at Disneyland.
2)Make an Autograph Book
An autograph (亲笔签名)book is seen as a must-have by many Disneyland enthusiasts and is a memory you can take home with you. These books can cost anywhere from $7.95 to $19.95 at the Disney Store and up to $30 for the latest-and-greatest autograph book at Disneyland, such as the park's 60th anniversary edition. Other choices can get the job done for under $5. For example, you can buy a small photo album; cute pads or notebooks.
3)Eat Breakfast Before You Arrive
Breakfast is almost as pricey as lunch or dinner if you eat inside the Disneyland parks. If you have a hotel with a free breakfast, take advantage of it. If you want to eat out, eat at a local restaurant that is inexpensive or has a kids' menu, such as McDonald's which is close to the park.
4)Take Advantage of Discounts Offered to Special Groups
Disney offers a wide variety of discounts, including for military service members, college students, teachers, and youth groups. If you think you might qualify for a special discount or group rate, call the Disneyland Resort to book tickets.
(1)It may take you more money to buy souvenirs at_____.

C.Walmart
D.Amazon
(2)How much do you pay for the park's 60th anniversary edition?

【题目】根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。 The word "diary" comes from the Latin word "diarium", which means "daily allowance". And it is used for business notes, planning activities, keeping track of scheduled appointments, or documenting what has already happened. Some doctors suggest that writing in a diary is a good form of self-study.
In America, from the 1940s through the 1980s, a diary was thought of mostly as a way to privately express one's deepest thoughts while keeping notations about the day. Many times, movies would show a teenage girl beginning to write in her diary while she said aloud, "Dear diary……".
A diary kept by a young German Jewish girl by the name of Anne Frank provides us with invaluable lessons about history, for she documented her experiences while she hid from the Nazis during their occupation of the Netherlands in World War II. Her diary became one of the world's most widely read books and is the basis for many films.
Samuel Pepys, who lived during the 17th century, is the earliest diary keeper that is famous today. His diary is also an important documentation of history, for it gives personal insight(洞察力) into London's Great Plague and the Great Fire. His diary is being published on the Internet, and it's interesting to note that there has been a new entry every day since January of 2003. It will continue over the course of several years to come.
Today's electronic version of the diary, the web log or "blog" has once again stretched the diary to be much more than a personal account of the day's events. There are blogs to document recipes, traveling, movies, independent news, product announcements, photos, and anything else that needs to be recorded over time. Search engines like Technorati.com have been created to keep track of the more than 112 million blogs that are currently public.
A. It refers to a book for writings by date.
B. In its newest form, the diary has become more popular than ever.
C. Reading his diary is fascinating, and it makes his life all the more real to us.
D. People love to write diaries, so whenever they are free, they will write a few lines.
E. Those private reflections may have historical significance long after the author's death.
F. Nowadays, the blog has taken the place of the diary and becomes more and more popular.
G. In those times, and even continuing on today, writing in a diary was like writing to a special friend.
