第二节 读写任务(共1小题,满分25分)

阅读下面的短文,然后按照要求写一篇150词左右的英语短文。

The age one becomes a legal adult in the US is largely the age at which most children are considered adults in the world. A few countries set this age lower, but in most of the western world, one is considered an adult at 18.

For many parents the term legal adult does not mean their children possess certain adult characteristics. For example, being an adult implies being able to make mature decisions, participate in civic(公民的) matters, have self-control, and be responsible. Some 18-year-olds simply lack these characteristics and need further time to develop them. It concerns some parents that an 18-year-old can make life-altering decisions, like marrying early or joining the army, which may not have been made with significant forethought.

Even if a newly legal adult is still in high school, a parent is under no legal pressure, frequently, to continue to provide housing or care. Some exceptions to this rule have been proven, particularly in cases of divorce where a spouse (配偶) still claims child support, or help with payments for college. Some parents feel that continued financial support really proves the fact that the child is really not quite an adult yet, regardless of age.

My understanding about being 18

In many countries as well as the US, being 18 years old means entering adulthood. Then one needs to independently think more than twice not only for themselves but also for the whole world around.

In western countries, leaving home is a symbol of becoming an adult, because it was the starting point signaling the transition from youth to adulthood. However, people in China have little sense of doing that. The young are still regarded or just consider themselves as kids far from being mature.

As far as I am concerned, though my 18th birthday is still coming, few birthdays are as important as the big 18th. Things to do on my 18th birthday should be different than years past. I want my 18th birthday to be special, something I can look back on when I’m older. Not only will I invite the people I care about to celebrate it together with me, but I will write a letter to myself about what is going on in my life and what I plan to do in the future. For example, I will write down what I want for myself in 5, 10 and 20 years and then seal the envelope and keep it in my purse until I turn 30.

Little as I have known about what to do correctly, I will spare no effort to learn to be a grown-up. I will try my best to learn to be more independent and responsible as well as enjoying my precious life.

阅读下面的短文,然后按照要求写一篇150词左右的英语短文。
According to Shenzhen Daily, the city’s vehicle population has reached over 1 million and 80 percent of the vehicles are private cars.
Nowadays more and more families own private cars. Private cars, as the product of modern civilization, have been playing a vital role in people's daily activities. Firstly, private cars are a convenient means of transportation. You can go wherever you like. Secondly, there is no doubt that private cars will have a great impact on the economic growth. The rapid car industry growth will contribute much to keeping the country's economy growing at a higher rate in the near futrue.
But every coin has two sides. The development of the private cars will bring about a series of problems. For example, the polluted air given off by cars will do great harm to our health, too many private cars will lead to traffic jams and a great deal of energy will be wasted and so on.That is why many people suggest we should go cycling in the city instead.
However, I think that the advantages of owning a car outweigh the disadvantages. Therefore, it seems to me that China should increase its output of automobiles and enlarge the private car market. We should take advantages of private cars and make them serve us better. Meantime ,we hope that satisfactory solutions to these negative problems will be found soon.

第二节读写任务(共1小题,满分25分)
阅读下面的短文,然后按照要求写一篇150词左右的英语短文。
There is a growing debate about the most effective way for students to study.  Traditionally studying alone was thought to be the best way to ensure good exam results. When studying alone you can focus your mind better than when you are with others. You also have the freedom to choose what topic to study and when, as you don't need file agreement of others. Students that prefer to study alone often say that when they study with their classmates they waste a lot of time because the discussion is often about non-study topics such as television or holidays.
In the last few years, however, more and more students have started studying in groups. There are several reasons many students prefer this method. First, they find that studying is more fun as they can share the experience with others rather than staying in their rooms.  In groups, they can discuss the subject together and when something is not understood they can ask each other questions. They can use the knowledge of their classmates to help improve their own knowledge.  Finally by discussing the topic they are able to both understand and remember it better.
