此处dream是单数名词,用it替代,故把them改成it

【题目】 In today’s difficult economic time, it’s natural to rethink your goal of studying abroad. Does the benefit outweigh the cost? The answer, in fact, is yes, when you look at the road ahead.

When the economy becomes more challenged, competition for the workforce increases, and employers look for employees with the best credentials(资力). Having an overseas degree — from a university where strong English skills are required — can make all the difference. The added expertise of a foreign degree, along with more cultural experience, can make you more qualified for many jobs.

A 50-year study of 3,400 students shows that studying abroad is usually a defining moment in a young person’s life and continues to impact the participant’s life for years after the experience.

82% said that they acquired skills that influenced their career path. 70% stated that it ignited(点燃)an interest in a career direction that they pursued after the experience.

And the effect on one’s career can be equally strong. A study by the Queensland, Australia government showed:

61% of employers stated overseas studying experience was positive on a graduate resume. 72% of employers felt that a second language made a graduate a more attractive employee.

Still, there’s the question of how to pay for studying overseas. But the cost doesn’t have to be as high as you think. Scholarships may be available to cover some or all of these costs. And, there are plenty of ways to further offset(抵消)the cost — through financial tips, advice and grants(补助金).

On the behalf of our group, I’d like to give a brief summary of our discussion on the topic “Are Recycling Textbooks a Good Suggestion?” As we know, when high school students graduated from school, their textbooks are throwing away, which are still in good condition. What a great waste it is!

A suggestion has been put forward we should recycle the textbooks. Some students in my group agree with this suggestion. For one thing, recycling textbooks can save a lot of natural resources, what are used to make textbooks. And it can also save plenty of family expenses. For another, in western countries, recycling textbook is very popular and it gives you a good example. But some have different opinions about it, for the content of the textbooks is often renewed. What’s more, it is not proper to make notes in the textbooks. In my opinion, this is a wonderfully idea because this will do good to both the government and the families.

【题目】 As I was leaving the gym last week, I greeted a friend who was coming in. He responded without looking up from his phone. I stood there for a few awkward seconds, hoping for eye contact. He finally looked up briefly, apologetically, before returning to the screen. I walked on, feeling shaken.

It turns out I was phubbed, which is a term for snubbing(冷落)someone in favor of a phone. And research has found that phubbing does have negative (消极的)impacts on personal relationships, reducing the quality of communication and level of satisfaction.

Recently I've noticed that it's impossible to go out with friends and have their attention for the whole time, There're always phones on the table, and they're constantly being checked. When the slightest pause in conversation arises, or if someone gets up from the table briefly, people seize their phones to check in with the rest of the world to see what else is going On.

It used to be that going out together was confidence-boosting solid reassurance(安慰)that another person enjoyed your company, otherwise they wouldn't accept but not now. Now, you're constantly attracting attentioncompeting with a portable supercomputer. When someone is looking at their phone, you're never sure if they actually want to be with you.

The modern-day equivalent of this is scrolling(滚屏)and texting. Although I didn't realize it at the time, I was trying for connection with the friend, who was attracted by it refusing to put away his phone and made me feel awful.

I don't want to be that person. I don't want my actions to make anyone feel the way I did that day. So from now on I'm going to make a point of not letting digital distractions damage the relationships I hold so dear. It's not worth it. Nothing on that screen is ever more important than the person standing right in front of me.

1Why does the author describe his greeting with a friend in the gym last week?

A.To introduce what phubbing is.B.To show the misuse of phones.

C.To draw the readers' attention.D.To voice his opinion about phubbing.

2What is the third paragraph mainly about?

A.Phones are bad for communication.B.Phones are used widely in the world.

A.People will enjoy your company.B.You will lose the trust of others.

【题目】Building trust inside your team

A team without trust isn’t really a team: it’s just a group of individuals, working together, often making disappointing progress. 1 So how can you, as a leader, help your team to build the trust that it needs to develop? In this article, we’ll look at the issue of trust within teams and what you can do to build it.

Lead by example.

If you want to build trust within your team, then lead by example, and show your people that you trust others. This means trusting your team, your colleagues, and your boss. 2 They are taking cues(提示) from your behavior. Take the opportunity to show them what trust in others really looks like.

Know each other personally.

One way to build trust is to encourage your team members to know each other. Think about creating situations that help them to share personal stories, and to bond. 3 Start by sharing some personal information about yourself, and then ask someone else about a hobby, or a musical interest.

4 .

When people work together, there will be honest mistakes and disappointments, and it’s easy to blame someone for these. However, when everyone starts pointing fingers, an unpleasant atmosphere can quickly develop. This lowers trust, and is finally unproductive.

Discuss trust issues.

If you manage a team that has trust issues, it’s important to find out how these problems originate, so that you can come up with a strategy for overcoming them. Consider giving team members a questionnaire to fill out anonymously(匿名的). 5 Once you’ve read the results, get everyone together to talk about these issues.

A.Do not place blame.

B.Try to avoid mistakes and disappointments.

C.Ask them about the reasons for their lack of trust.

D.Do this by asking sensitively about their family or hobbies.

E.Never forget that your team members are always watching you.

F.Instead, encourage everyone to think about the mistake positively.

G.However, when trust is in place, the group can achieve meaningful goals.
