2.---He ought to have been warned of the danger.
---        ,but he wouldn't listen to me.( )
A.yes,he ought toB.So he was
C.So was heD.So it was with him

分析 -应该警告他此危险.
-我确实警告他了,但他不听我的.

解答 答案:B
根据题干中"but he wouldn't listen to me"可知"我"警告过他,"so+主语+助动词"表示"确实…","so he was"表示"他确实受到警告".A选项中"ought to"为"ought to have been warned of"的省略表达,表示"应该怎么做而未做",不符合句意,C选项中"so was he"表示"他也是这样",不符合句意,D选项"so it was with him"表示"他也如此",故可排除ACD,正确选项为B.

点评 此题考查"so+主语+助动词"的特殊句式,根据各选项的含义并结合句意,可选出正确选项,应记住特殊句式的相关表达.

16.The practice of students endlessly copying letters and sentences from a blackboard is a thing of the past.With the coming of new technologies like computers and smartphones,writing by hand has become something of a nostalgic (怀旧的) skill.However,while today's educators are using more and more technology in their teaching,many believe basic handwriting skills are still necessary for students to be successful-both in school and in life.
Virginia Berninger, professor of educational psychology at the University of Washington, says it's important to continue teaching handwriting and help children acquire the skill of writing by hand.
Berninger and her colleagues conducted a study that looked at the ability of students to complete various writing tasks-both on a computer and by hand.The study,published in 2015,found that when writing with a pen and paper,participants wrote longer essays and more complete sentences and had a faster word production rate.
In a more recent study,Berninger looked at what role spelling plays in a student's writing skills and found that how well children spell is tied to how well they can write."Spelling makes some of the thinking parts of the brain active,which helps us access our vocabulary,word meaning and concepts.It is allowing our written language to connect with ideas."Berninger said.
Spelling helps students translate ideas into words in their mind first and then to transcribe (转换)"those words in the mind into written symbols on paper or keyboard and screen,"the study said.Seeing the words in the"mind's eye"helps children not only to turn their ideas into words,says Berninger,but also to spot (发现) spelling mistakes when they write the words down and to correct them over time.
"In our computer age,some people believe that we don't have to teach spelling because we have spell checks,"she said."But until a child has a functional spelling ability of about a fifth grade level,they won't have the knowledge to choose the correct spelling among the options given by the computer."

6.Picture a library without books?Well,I can't.Ever since I was little l would go to the library and take out numerous books. From picture books to beginning chapter books to YA books,books have always been a part of my life. Unlike many people today,I don't own a Kindle or a Nook or any type of e-reader. I prefer the old-fashioned book. There is something about holding a book and being able to turn the pages that I find comforting. In today's 21st century,books may become obsolete. For me that's something I find scary.
I am a fan of the old TV science-fiction series Twilight Zone. One episode(一段情节)is about a librarian who has become obsolete.Though this episode aired in 1961,the writer of the series,Rod Serling was exactly on point when it came to predicting the future.
In fact,in San Antonio,Texas the first-ever bookless library in the country opened.The library is full of iMacs,tablets and iPads which cost a huge $2.3million.The library offers around 10.000e-books. So the question is,is this what the future will soon be?Mary Graham,vice president of South Carolina's Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce states,"This is the future…If you're going to be building new library facilities,this is what you need to be doing."
It is our generation that will be the guinea pigs (试验品) of increasing technology like this. Is this a good or bad thing?Well,digital libraries may help the environment by not using paper; however,I feel like something will always be lacking with a digital book.A digital library is just the beginning.
With all of this new technology,people seem to be more absorbed in their own world.One of my biggest complaints is when I am with my friends and they can't seem to get off their smart phone and talk to me. To make plans with a friend and then have them stuck on their phone the whole time is extremely rude.Not only is it disrespectful,but it reflects the direction of where human interactions are heading.Though social media is great,it also is addicting and has negative effects.
Often when I go on Facebook it just makes me feel worse about myself. I'll see many of my 800Facebook friends showing off their newest accomplishment or acceptance to college.Additionally,our society is becoming increasingly lazy. For instance,instead of doing mental math,people use their phone to solve 89+74. It is simple tasks like these that are allowing people to lack important educational and social skills.
It is up to us to find a balance between technology and human values and interactions. With new technology being created every day,we need to learn how to use it alongside our great minds.After all,inventions are supposed to benefit society not harm it. In the day of technology,who knows what's next?

The Olympic flame

The Olympic Flame is a symbol carried over from the ancient Olympics, where a flame burned at the altar(祭坛)of Zeus throughout competition. It was finally reintroduced at the 1924 Amsterdam Games, and again burned in 1932.

Carl Diem, chairman of the organizing committee for the 1936 Berlin Games, proposed that the flame be lit in Greece and transported to Berlin via a torch relay. The idea was adopted(采纳) and continued at every Olympic Games since 1952. The flame is lit at the ancient site of Olympia by the natural rays of the sun reflected off a curved mirror. It is lit at a ceremony by women dressed in robes resembling those worn in ancient times, who then pass it to the first relay runner.

The Olympic motto

“Citius, altius, fortius” is a Latin phrase meaning “swifter, higher, stronger”, which Baron de Coubertin borrowed from Father Henri Martin Dideon of Paris. Dideon was headmaster of Arcueil College, and used the phrase to describe the athletic achievements of students at the school. He had previously been at the Albert Le Grand school, where the Latin words were carved in stone above the main entrance.

The Olympic oath

“In the name of all competitors, I promise that we shall take part in these Olympic Games, respecting and abiding by the rules that govern them, in the true spirit of sportsmanship, for the glory of sport and the honor of our teams.”

Written by Baron de Coubertin, the oath is taken by an athlete from the host nation while holding a corner of the Olympic flag. The athletes’ oath was first taken by Belgian fencer Victor Boin at the 1920 Antwerp Games. A judge from the host country also speaks the oath, with slightly different wording.
