Self-driving cars have been backed by the hope that they will save lives by getting involved in fewer crashes with fewer injuries and deaths than human-driven cars. But so far most comparisons between human drivers and automated vehicles have been unfair.

Crash statistics for human-driven cars are gathered from all sorts of driving situations and on all types of roads. However most of the data on self-driving cars' safety have been recorded often in good weather and on highways where the most important tasks are staying in the car's own lane and not getting too close to the vehicle ahead. Automated cars are good at those tasks but so are humans.

It is true that self-driving cars don't get tired angry frustrated or drunk. But neither can they yet react to uncertain situations with the same skill or anticipation of an attentive human driver. Nor do they possess the foresight to avoid potential perils. They largely drive from moment to momentrather than think ahead to possible events literally down the road.

To a self-driving car a bus full of people might appear quite similar to an uninhabited corn field. Indeed deciding what action to take in an emergency is difficult for humans but drivers have sacrificed themselves for the greater good of others. An automated system’s limited understanding of the world means it will almost never evaluate(评估) a situation the same way a human would. And machines can't be programmed in advance to handle every imaginable set of events.

Some people may argue that the promise of simply reducing the number of injuries and deaths is enough to support driverless cars. But experience from aviation(航空) shows that as new automated systems are introduced there is often an increase in the rate of disasters.

Therefore comparisons between humans and automated vehicles have to be performed carefully. To fairly evaluate driverless cars on how well they fulfill their promise of improved safety it's important to ensure the data being presented actually provide a true comparison. After allchoosing to replace humans with automation has more effects than simply a one-for-one exchange.

1What makes the comparison between self-driving cars and human-driven cars unfair?

A.Self-driving cars never get tired.B.Statistics are collected differently.

C.Machines can make decisions faster.D.Self-driving cars know the world better.

2What does the underlined word “perils” in Paragraph 3 most probably mean?

A.Dangers.B.Self-driving cars.

C.Pedestrians.D.Human-driven cars.

3In which aspect can self-driving cars beat human-driven cars?

A.Driving steadily.B.Climbing steep slopes.

C.Evaluating the cost of loss.D.Making complex decisions.

4Why does the author write this text?

A.To support human-driven cars.

B.To show his doubt about self-driving cars.

C.To call for exact evaluation of self-driving cars.

D.To stress the importance of reducing car accidents.

Crash statistics for human-driven cars are gathered from all sorts of driving situations and on all types of roads. However most of the data on self-driving cars' safety have been recorded often in good weather and on highways.

They largely drive from moment to momentrather than think ahead to possible events literally down the road.

It is true that self-driving cars don't get tired angry frustrated or drunk. 故选A项。

Therefore comparisons between humans and automated vehicles have to be performed carefully. To fairly evaluate driverless cars on how well they fulfill their promise of improved safety it's important to ensure the data being presented actually provide a true comparison.

Teamwork is all about working together to achieve a common goal or purpose. Is teamwork out of date? Why is it so hard to effectively conduct teamwork in those things?

One way we employ teamwork in everyday lives is by becoming a parent. It is a parent’s job to teach their children the fundamental skills and give them the knowledge they need to be successful in life. So why is teamwork disappearing in this aspect of our lives? Well in today’s society, we find that more and more parents are experiencing that the teamwork is a one-sided thing. According to a 2009 report from the US, there are 13.7 million single parents raising their children in the US and this amount could be due to the fact that parents are not stepping up and taking responsibility for their children or they don’t have the means to, so they leave one parent to do it by themselves. This is a saddening fact, but it reflects that effective teamwork is losing ground in the parenting aspect of our everyday lives.

Another place where teamwork affects us greatly is in our jobs. It doesn’t matter if you are a small or large company; if you have at least one employee and yourself, then teamwork will be present. I have noticed that with the current economic recession(衰退), people are racing to grab jobs but the quality of people’s work has gone down greatly. It just appears to me that people do not take part in their work any more. They want to get to work and work as fast as they can, just to receive the paycheck, but their quality standards fly right out the window. This type of behavior is where I think teamwork is losing its ground in the workforce. There are too many people who want to work independently and forget they are a part of a team.

As you can see, we run into the aspects of teamwork in just about everything we do. Do you believe teamwork is really losing ground in today’s society? I think it is. What’s your opinion?

1Why does teamwork disappear in the parenting aspect of our daily lives?

A. Parents have no time to spare with their children.

B. Parents have no chances to teach their children about it.

C. Many children are often brought up by a single parent.

D. Many children are independent to deal with their matters.

2Teamwork is losing ground in workforce mainly because _______.

A. workers don’t like to work together with others

B. workers’ sense is affected by economic recession

C. workers want to prove they are more capable

D. fewer workers are employed to save money

3The author wants us to believe his opinion by _______.

A. listing some data

B. making comparisons

C. asking some questions

D. analyzing some cases

4What does the underlined phrase “fly right out the window” in Paragraph 3 mean?

A. Disappear. B. Improve.

C. Increase. D. Matter.

5What is the author’s main purpose of writing the passage?

A. To show the importance of housework.

B. To introduce how teamwork works now.

C. To tell us the current economic recession.

D. To show his attitude towards teamwork.

A video of a three-year-old girl being kicked by her own mother during a photo shot went viral on Thursday, indicating China’s underperformance in regulating the emerging child modeling industry.

The girl, known as Niu Niu, was physically abused (虐待) by her mother in several videos. The videos have annoyed Chinese media and Internet users alike. Many netizens and scholars call for local authorities to carry out further investigations into possible child abuse.

In response to the public outcry (强烈抗议), Niu Niu’s mother issued an apology via Sina Weibo on Thursday, condemning accusations of abuse. She noted that she was merely guiding her daughter for better shots and the girl is well looked after.

Despite her apology, many E-shops which used Niu Niu’s images for brand promotion have canceled their cooperation with the mother, while over 110 well-known child garment shops on Taobao have signed up for a campaign to provide better protection for child models.

“It is necessary to adopt comprehensive laws and regulations to further protect the kids, preventing their parents and companies from exploiting them,” Fang Zhiqing, a lawyer and child protection expert, said.

Niu Niu is not alone. In Zhili, a small town in Zhejiang province, thousands of children from across China are taken here by their parents to seize the chance of fame. With a population of 450,000, Zhili has over 13,000 manufacturers of child clothing. In 2017.the town earned over 7 billion yuan by selling clothing for children online, thus providing opportunities for child models.
