    My friend Mike come to visit me on May Day. During the following days I showed he around the city of Nanchang. We went to the Museum in the morning of May 2, and we learned many about the history of Nanchang. In the afternoon, we made a tour to the Yaohu Lake, that was really great fun! In the evening I took Mike the night zoo. It was so interesting to see animal at night. The next day we went to the book shop to buy books. Though we were very tiring in those two days, but we enjoyed ourselves very much.

    Once upon a time, a library was just about the only place that someone could go to get a book or go to read for free. Then came the arrival of the Internet, and that changed everything. Before long, books were available on different sites on the web. It was only a matter of time until Kindle, Nook, and other e-readers swept the scene. Along with them came the e-book. Many believed that this would be the end of libraries. But libraries still exist today, and many of them even thrive(繁荣). So, how is it possible that they survived against the onslaught of e-books?

    For one thing, the truth is that libraries were never just about borrowing books for free. Librarians provide many services other than those of a desk clerk or customer service agent. They often hold seminars, presentations, contests, and other events to promote free education. These events are considered necessary by parents and kids alike.

    For others, the library is a place where they can go to get away from the rush of the world and from social obligations or family troubles. Many go to the library to study for projects, papers and exams. Others simply see it as a recreational hobby.

    For another thing, most libraries and librarians do not reject the changing tides of technology. And neither does the world, for that matter. In the US, the graduate degree program to become a librarian is often called a Library Science program. It reflects the fact that the country believes its librarians should keep up with the latest in information technology. Many librarians agree, and therefore have become experts in the field. Librarians have by now and large willingly educated themselves in the technology needed to keep up with the fast-paced digital world of technology today.

    So consider a visit to your local library to see all the recent changes. If you haven’t been to one in a while you might not recognize the place. But don’t worry. Your librarian will be happy to bring you up to speed.

    It may surprise bookworms, but apparently masterpieces such as Jane Eyre are lacking in something — sound effects. An electronic-book firm is adding background noises and music to the works of Charlotte Bronte, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and William Shakespeare in the hope of attracting younger readers. In one example, a description of rain lashing against a window in a Sherlock Holmes story will be “enhanced” with matching noises.

    The first multimedia e-books — with sounds to accompany novels — will be available this Friday in the UK. The Booktrack releases are available to iPad users, with other tablet computer versions to follow. The concept is already in use in the U.S., where the classics come with added sound effects. Readers for example can hear the china cups chinking in Mr. Darcy’s garden as they read Pride And Prejudice.

    A story by Booker Prize winner Salman Rushdie will be released later in the year with a specially crafted orchestral score. Rushdie’s story In The South will be released with a soundtrack provided by the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra.

    The Power Of Six by Pittacus Lore, a novel for young adults, is one of the first to be tested with a soundtrack which builds in suspense in keeping with the plot. It works by timing the speed of each reader and the software measures the “turning” of a page and moves the music or sounds along accordingly. It has been created by Booktrack which synchronizes (使同步) music to each novel. It is funded by Peter Thiel, a co-founder of PayPal.

    Mr. Thiel said, “It’s always exciting to witness the creation of a new form of media. The technology promises to captivate readers in a different way.”

    However, they have been greeted with horror by traditionalists, who say the technology takes away the pleasure of having one’s imagination stimulated by a story. They also raise the prospect (预期) of having to ask an overly eager reader to turn their book down. David Nicholls, whose bestseller One Day was recently turned into a film starring Anne Hathaway, said, “This sounds like the opposite of reading. It would be a distraction.”

    Perhaps your are an average student with average intelligence. You do well enough in school, but you probably think you will never be a top student. 1. Yes, even students of average intelligence can be top students without additional work. Here are some tips for you:

    Several years before, my friend and I drove to Chicago to pay a visit our other friends. We noticed that there was a homeless man sitting at an exit of the subway. So we bought some food and gave them to him. When he saw what we have bought for him, he became exciting with joy. After seeing his reaction, my friend and I decided to help more people. One night we packed up sandwiches or bottles of water, looking for people whom were in need. When I saw the look of joy in the face of each person we helped, I was very pleased. It was one of the most amazing feeling in my life.
