We often describe spring as a time of rebirth, renewal and awakening. However, when the weather turns warm, many of us suffer from spring fever Are we actually sick when we have spring fever? Originally, yes, 1 When the weather turned warm, some people developed sore throats, headaches, or stuffy noses. The definition of “spring fever” slowly changed in the early 1800s, Now people come to use the term to mean a sudden increase of romantic feelings. Elvis Presley describes this feeling in the song “Spring Fever.” “Spring fever, comes to everyone. Spring fever, it’s tune for fun. There’s no doubt now, love is everywhere. Get up, get out, spring is everywhere.” These days, we use “spring fever to describe a restless feeling after the long, cold days of winter. But the word “spring” is not just a season. 2

Imagine that you are resting on the couch when suddenly you see a mouse run across the floor. You spring into action! You jump from the couch and run after the mouse! But you miss, 3 Audit works! But when you tell your roommate that you caught a mouse in a trap, tears spring to her eyes. You feel bad and awfully sorry, but she really should have told you about her pet mouse Charlie! After all, your apartment doesn’t allow pets.

4 You say to her, “You can’t just spring that on me! I’ll need time to find another roommate!” But then you think that maybe it’s for the best. Every time you see her, you feel guilty about Charlie, her pet mouse. 5 She always expects you to compensate her for her loss of the mouse: she wants you to spring for lunch, spring for movie tickets, and sometimes even spring for groceries. When you spring for something, you pay for someone else.

These expressions are really cool, aren’t they? Next time, you can say to a friend, “I have spring fever. Let’s leave early and go to an outdoor cafe, I’ll spring for coffee.”

A. Things art conning to life in spring!

B. Your roommate turns her back on you.

C. It is also a verb that means something happening or appearing quickly.

D. Spring fever used to refer to an Actual illness.

D Spring fever used to refer to an Actual illness.“春热指的是一种真正的疾病。切题。

2上文提到但是春天这个词不仅仅是一个季节。承接上文,C It is also a verb that means something happening or appearing quickly.“它也是一个动词,意思是发生或迅速出现的东西。切题。该项中的also与上文中的not just对应。

F That night you spring a trap with some cheese in it“那天晚上你在里面放了一个带奶酪的陷阱。

EThen unexpectedly, your roommate is moving out tomorrow.“然后出乎意料的是,你的室友明天就要搬走了。切题。该项中的moving out tomorrow.find another roommate对应。

GEven so, she constantly annoys you.“即使这样,她持续不断地烦扰你切题。该项中的constantly annoys you与下文内容吻合。

做七选五题时,当心文中小also”,also的意思,这就说明前文一定存在它的一个分支了,这样的例子比比皆是:前文交代“It helps you practice what you have learnt during the day and establish study habits that will be important in college ”虽然看上去很长的一句话,从句就有两个,但是重点就三个单词“It helps you”,此时在空中填上“It can also help you prepare for your classes and get a sense of progress.”,(关键词It can also help you)这样一对应就很工整了。当然“also”只是一个代表罢了,可以表示递进的词还有很多:what’ more, besides, in addition等等。

The similarities between elephant and human behavior has been a curiosity to scientists worldwide. These huge beasts are not so different from us. Their devotion to their family is just as powerful as the friendships between humans. In order to prevent future elephant attacks, people must first understand the similarities between elephants and themselves.

Because deaths are felt so deeply in elephants, memories of people harming or killing other members are not forgotten. Due to the Uganda-Tanzania War in Africa, poaching (偷猎) elephant increased during the 1970’s and continued, despite government restrictions. However, ecologists like Eve Abe did not see this as simple poaching; they saw it as a “mass destruction. “Elephants that have witnessed the murder of a matriarch, are more likely to become violent and attack humans. Many aggressive elephants do not act without reason; they are suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). At a young age, humans invade their life, kill their parents, and ultimately destroy their peaceful environment. More and more calves live neglected lives without a mother figure, and have to become a parent early for survival. Humans that had a difficult childhood or early family life also suffer from aggression and pain. Young elephants have been known to have “nightmares,” waking up suddenly and screaming. These are clearly signs of stress, as males grow up to be increasingly hostile (敌对的) humans and target certain villages where painful experiences had occurred.

Although many see elephants as massive, violent, and simple-minded animals, their social structure is not unlike many human societies. Humans and elephants have been on parallel paths. However, if people continue practicing ignorance over the cruel treatment of these creatures, then collision will become inevitable. Cruel treatment of elephants still goes on, but by understanding the similarities between us, it can be stopped.

1In order to stop the hostile behavior of elephants, people should lay emphasis on ________.

A. stopping harming or killing the group members of elephants

B. understand the similarities between elephants and humans

C. taking good care of the young elephants

D. carrying out the government restrictions

2What does the underlined word “matriarch” mean?

A. young elephant.

B. male elephant.

C. strong elephant.

D. mother elephant.

3What can we infer from the passage?

A. Young elephants will grow up to be violent easily.

B. Humans and elephants have the same social structure.

C. Sometimes young elephants are forced to grow up.

D. Elephants attack villages when painful experiences occur.

4Why should we take good care of the young kids?

A. Because early family life counts.

B. Because they will be aggressive when grown up.

C. Because humans and elephants are on parallel paths.

D. Because signs of stress have to be stopped.

A. The benefits of visiting museums
B. Educational functions
C. Places for collections of objects
D. The history of museums
E. Precious chance to see famous masterpieces
F. Ways to improve their collections
Museums are places where collections of objects are preserved and put on show. The objects may be anything found in nature made by man. There are museums devoted to art, science, history, industry and technology.
But museums are no longer just storehouse for collections. Today nearly all museums, large or small, carry on educational programs. Museums offer guided tours, lectures, films, music recitals, art lessons, and other attractions. They organize field trips and clubs. They publish guides to help visitors to gain a better understanding of the collections.
All museums share a common aim —— to attract visitors and help them to understand and enjoy the collections. Museums are always on the watch for new additions to their collections. Works of art are bought from art dealers and private collectors. Museums also accept gifts, but the large museums no longer accept everything that is offered to them. They accept only objects of collections that meet their high standards.
Museums often arrange loan exhibitions of important works from private owners, art dealers and other museums. In this way a famous masterpiece may be viewed by people who otherwise might never have the chance to see it. For example, in 1963 the Metropolitan Museums of Art in New York city exhibited one of the world's most famous ladies —— Mona Lisa, painted by Leonardo Da Vinci. The government of France had lent the painting to the United States. Attendance at the Metropolitan reached an all-time high during the month Mona Lisa was shown there.
What is to be gained from visiting museums? Museum exhibits can teach us about the world in which we live —— the materials it is made of, the trees and plants that cover it, and the animals that have lived on it since its beginning. We can learn about the activities of man —— his history and development as well as his accomplishments in arts and crafts. Most people see a great work of art for the first time in a museum. We cannot all be explorers or collectors in other lands. But in a museum we can see for ourselves the objects that have been gathered from every part of the world.
