5.When we talk about a library,we may think of shelves and shelves lined with books. But a new library set to open this fall in Texas won't have any books----at least not the kind you can leaf through..
There will be 10,000 digital books available for loan(借出)in the BiblioTech library in Bexar County,Texas.About 1.7 million county residents will be able to check out the books online without leaving their homes. The library will also provide 100 e-readers for people to borrow. In the library, people can work, study and access the Internet using dozens of computer stations.
"We wanted to find a cheap, effective way to bring reading and learning to the county and also focus on the change in the world of technology,"Bexar County Judge Nelson Wolff, the man who started the project, told reporters.
Digital-only academic libraries already exist in the US.The University of Texas at San Antonio opened the first in 2010,and officials say it's been a success. Many public libraries even offer digital books in addition to paper copies. But Biblio Tech will be the country's first completely paperless public library system.Tucson,Arizona, and Newport Beach,California, attempted to open bookless public libraries in 2002 and 2011,respectively,but both ended up offering paper books after public outcry.
However,Residents of Tucson and Newport Beach lived close to libraries and could easily get to them. Many areas of Bexar County,on the other hand, lack public libraries,so residents don't have easy access to books.Wolff hopes Biblio Tech will solvethat problem.
Critics argue against digital-only libraries, saying many people prefer to see and hold actual books. Some say books with pictures, such as children's books and how-to books, work better than digital books.Others say people who aren't comfortable with technology won't be able to use the paperless libraries. They also point out that many digital books are not available for libraries to purchase for their collections.
But supporters of digital libraries say these institutions will make books available to more people, like the residents of Bexar County.Wolff himself, who collects print books, says he doesn't intend paperless libraries to replace traditional ones, but to exist alongside them."People are always going to want books,"he says."But the world is changing."

B.Tucson and Newport Beach lack public libraries.
C.There aren't digital libraries in Bexar County.

2.Starting the day on an egg could keep your blood pressure(血压) under control, research suggests.Scientists have shown that eggs produce proteins with a function similar to that of powerful blood pressure-lowering drugs.
The research, from the University of Alberta in Canada, showed that when eggs come in contact with stomach enzymes(酶) they produce a protein that acts in the same way as Ace inhibitors, but more work is needed to show the effects outside a lab and in the human body.
Earlier this month,British researchers declared that, contrary to popular beliefs,it is healthy to go to work on an egg. They concluded that the type of cholesterol(胆固醇) found in eggs has little effect on increasing heart disease risks.
Researcher Professor Bruce Griffin, from the University of Surrey, said:"The wrong beliefs linking egg eating to high blood cholesterol and heart disease must be corrected. The amount of fat in our diet has an effect on blood cholesterol that is several times greater than the relatively small amounts of cholesterol found in eggs. The UK public do not need to be limiting the number of eggs they eat. They can be encouraged to include them in a healthy diet as they are one of nature's most nutritious foods."
The British Heart Foundation dropped its three-egg-a-week limit in 2005.However,almost half of Britons believe the limit still applies.

D.are forbidden to be eaten in the UK
59.We can infer from the text that.D
A.drugs to lower blood pressure will be replaced by eating eggs
B.stomach enzymes mixed with eggs can cure heart diseases
C.most Britons agree the three-egg-a-week limit should be dropped
D.about 50% of Britons think eating an egg a day is bad for their health
60.The text is meant.A
A.to introduce scientific findings about eggs
B.to introduce a medicine made from eggs
C.to tell people how to lower their blood pressure
D.to advise people to eat as many eggs as possible.

19.A.The way to get involved
B.Websites to check out
C.Join a forum you are interested in
D.Describe your personal interest
E.Online dos and don'ts
F.Online information

People are always saying that you should make friends with native speakers to practise the language. Now in the internet age, that's much easier.
The best way to strike up a friendship with English speakers online is to find those you share a common interest with.If you're able to discuss a hobby like movies or basketball together it will be much easier to start those friendships.
76CGetting involved in a forum based on your interests is also a great way to learn words that you might never have met in class.Different people may join different groups or forums, and you have to find the one that suits your case.
77.Dso,where do you go to find English speakers with like-minded interests? The most obvious places to look are Google and Yahoo. These popular Internet sites are bursting with groups and forums.
Once you've found a group that suits you, spend some time thinking about what you want to say in your first post.it's a good idea to introduce yourself, give your nickname and age,say where you're from, and tell what your interests are.
78.AThis is generally the fastest way to get involved in a forum and to introduce yourself to others. On a movie forum you could ask something like,"I've just seen the movie Revolutionary Road.I thought it was brilliant.Has anyone read the book?"
79.Bwww.englishforums.com:To find someone to talk to using Skype, check out his site.simply put Skype in the search engine and that will bring up the many people who have posted a desire to practice their English using Skype. Its chatrooms are also good places to find English speakers.
mylanguagexchange.com:The website is an online language exchange community. There are even lesson plans to help structure the conversation.
www.englishonline.org.cn/en:The British Council's English online website is another place with lively forums worth checking out.Or you could join a Facebook group. There are thousands on the website.
80.EOne common mistake people make when they approach English speakers online is to begin by saying that they want to be friends to improve their English.
While this may be the truth, don't say it.it suggests you have little interest in a real friendship.
Be imaginative in approaching people.Perhaps you see that someone is from a certain country that you would like to visit.Tell them so,and then ask if they can tell you a bit about it.Then tell them about yours.
