I've observed that the loss of a loved one can be one of the most difficult things we humans can face. The bacteria surrounding this mold had been destroyed. He realized that he discovered the world’s first bacteria killer. It was later named “penicillin”.
Further development of penicillin was not a one-man operation, so Fleming employed two young researchers. Penicillin finally came into use during World War II and Fleming won the Nobel Prize in 1945.
