Dear Sir.

I’m writing to talk about the problems of food safety nowadays. Some food companies don't take necessary safety measures to guarantee the food quality so as to reduce the cost and make more profits. As a consequence, more and more low-quality food flows into the market, which does a lot of harm to consumer's health.

From my point of view, food is vital to human beings. We can not live without proper food.If we pay no attention to food safety, the health of the whole nation would suffer. So I call on the whole society to take action and put an end to the low-quality food.Only in this way can we live a healthier life.

Yours truly,

Li Hua

1.Some food companies don't take necessary safety measures to guarantee the food quality so as to reduce the cost and make more profits. (加分短语的使用:take measures,so as to,make profits; 采用了以so as to连接的复合句)

2.As a consequence,more and more low-quality food flows into the market,which does a lot of harm to consumer's health.

3.Only in this way can we live a healthier life.

Recently, a study was carried out to determine who was the greatest American president. Sixtyfive presidential historians took part in it, and they judged the past fortyfour American leaders based on ten leadership qualities, including public persuasiveness(信服), crisis leadership, management of the economy, moral leadership, and conduct of international relations. The historians also looked at administrative ability(管理能力), relations with Congress, ability to set goals, and the pursuit of equal justice for all. Finally, the experts took into consideration the historical period in which the president lived.
The historians chose Abraham Lincoln as American's greatest president. He had also been named the greatest president in a similar study in 2000. Abraham Lincoln was the president who led the nation through the Civil War in the 1860s, and was able to unite it in the end. He also took the first steps to abolish(废除) slavery in America.
Edna Medford, a professor of history at Howard University in Washington, D.C., was an adviser on this study and the earlier one. She says Abraham Lincoln is seen to represent the values the nation most honours, such as truthfulness, moderation, and respect for human rights.
The historians put American's first president, George Washington, second on the list, while Franklin D. Roosevelt, Theodore Roosevelt, and Harry S. Truman follow in that order. John F. Kennedy, the country's first Roman Catholic president, is sixth on the list. Like Lincoln, Kennedy was murdered while in office.

There seems never to have been a civilization(文明) without toys, but when and how they developed is unknown. They probably came about just to give children something to do.
In the ancient world, as is today, most boys play with some kinds of toys and most girls with another. In societies where social roles are strictly determined, boys pattern their play after the activities of their fathers and girls after the tasks of their mothers. This is true because boys and girls are being prepared, even in play, to step into the roles and responsibilities of the adult world.
What is remarkable about the history of toys is not so much how they changed over the centuries but how much they have remained the same. It is the universality of toys about their development in all parts of the world and their continuing to the present that is amazing. In Egypt, the Americas, China, Japan and among the Arctic peoples, generally the same kinds of toys appeared. Nearly every civilization had dolls, little weapons, toy soldiers, tiny animals and vehicles.
Because toys can be generally regarded as a kind of art form, they have not been subject to (服从于) technological progress that characterizes inventions for adult use. The progress from the wheel to the oxcart to the automobile is a direct line of advancement. The progress from a rattle (拨浪鼓) used by a baby in 3,000 BC to one used by an infant today, however, is not characterized by inventiveness. Each rattle is the product of the artistic tastes of the times and subject to the limitations of materials then ready for use. (words: 285 ; time : 5ms)
(1)The reason why the toys most boys play with are different from those that girls play with is that ________ .
A.their social roles are strictly determined
B.most boys would like to follow their fathers' jobs

C.boys like to play with their fathers while girls with their mothers
D.they like challenging activities.
(2)"The universality of toys" lies in the fact that ________ .
A.technological advances have greatly improved the making of toys
B.the improvement of techniques in making toys depends on the efforts of universities
C.the exploration of the universe has led to the creation of new kinds of toys
D.the basic characteristics of toys are the same all over the world
(3)Regarded as a kind of art form, toys ________.
A.follow a direct line of development
B.also greatly interest adults
C.are not characterized by progress in technology
D.show the pace of social progress

The Chinese art of paper cutting has a long history. The earliest paper cutting was found in China 1,500 years ago. The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization has recognized the art, called Jianzhi, on its Intangible Cultural Heritage (非物质文化遗产) list. But Jianzhi is at risk of disappearing. Voyo Woo, a Chinese immigrant to the US, hopes to bring the art back to life.
Voyo Woo loves paper cutting. And she works hard to celebrate the ancient art form. On a recent Saturday, Ms.Woo held a paper cutting show at a shopping center near Washington. She demonstrated the art to crowds for hours at the center.
Voyo Woo began to study the art of Jianzhi as a 14-year-old girl in her hometown in southeastern China. She said all the students at school had to learn the art. But she developed a special love for it, so her teacher gave her extra training after class. Later, she won second prize in a national painting and handwriting competition. Ms.Woo came to the US after she finished college in 2008. Soon after, she became involved in an event to support and expand understanding of Chinese paper cutting. She has been invited to demonstrate the art at a wide collection of events. She has also shown her skill at famous museums like Sackler art galleries in Washington. Ms.Woo says paper cutting represents Chinese cultural values, history and stories of people's lives. She uses the art as a tool to present Chinese culture to people who know little about it.
Ms.Woo placed examples of her art around her as she demonstrated paper cutting at the shopping center. Some shoppers, like Ann Russ, took part in a workshop. Ms.Russ was struck by the finely detailed nature of the work. She said it put her at ease. Voyo Woo says Chinese art is for all people. “It is amazing how Chinese art can echo with people from other cultural backgrounds.”
(1)What can we learn from Paragraph 1?

D.The school life of Ms.Woo in China.
(4)The events mentioned in Paragraph 3 are developed__________.
A.by time
