9.Ten years ago I used to be very fit.I rode a bike to work and I got a lot of exercise at weekends.I used to play tennis a lot and go for long walks.In those days I didn't earn very much.I had a job in an office.It wasn't a very good job but I had a lot of time to do the things I enjoyed doing.Then,about eight years ago,I got a much better job.The pay was better,but the hours were a lot longer.I bought a car and drove to work every day.I began to take people out to lunch.And I began to put on weight,too.I stopped playing tennis and going for long walks at weekends because I just didn't have any time for things like that any more.There's a lot of stress  in my job.Perhaps that is why I started drinking more than I used to.For example,I used to have only half a glass of whisky when I got home,but then I started filling my glass to the top,and instead of having one glass,I would have several.I started smoking a lot,too.I never used to smoke at all.Two months ago I had a heart attack.At first I just couldn't believe it.Luckily it wasn't very serious.The doctor advised me to stop smoking and to eat less.He also advised me to work less and get more exercise.But I just haven't any time!My job takes everything out of me!Sometimes I wonder if I should get another job.Perhaps I could do something like I used to do.But if I do that,I won't earn as much.I have a family to support.I have to think of them,too.I just don't know what I should do.What do you think?

解答 1:D 推理判断题.根据文章第四段Two months ago I had a heart attack.说明因为工作的关系他现在的身体出了问题,患上了心脏病.故问题出在了健康方面,故D正确.

20.Personal computers and the Internet give people new choices about how to spend their time.
Some may use this freedom to share less time with certain friends or family members, but new technology will also let them stay in closer touch with those they care most about.I know this from personal experience.
E-mail makes it easy to work at home, which is where I now spend most weekends and evenings. My working hours aren't necessarily much shorter than they once were but I spend fewer of them at the office. This lets me share more time with my young daughter than I might have if she'd been born before electronic mail became such a practical tool.
The Internet also makes it easy to share thoughts with a group of friends.Say you do something fun see a great movie perhaps-and there are four or five friends who might want to hear about it.If you call each one,you may tire of telling the story.
With E-mail,you just write one note about your experience,at your convenience, and address it to all the friends you think might be interested. They can read your message when they have time, and read only as much as they want to.They can reply at their convenience, and you can read what they have to say at your convenience.
E-mail is also an inexpensive way stay in close touch with people who live far away.More than a few parents use E-mail to keep in touch, even daily touch, with their children off at college.
We just have to keep in mind that computers and the Internet offer another way of staying in touch. They don't take the place of any of the old ways.

18.Honesty is a virtue,and telling a lie is morally wrong.But how can you know if someone is (81)lying?The answer is,they're probably not.Traditional economics says that people are rational beings who will lie if it is (82)to their advantage.A recent university study has shown that,actually,we're pretty honest-especially (83)when we're at home.
Researchers in Germany phoned people at home and asked them to toss a coin.There was a strong financial incentive (激励) to fake the result:if the coin landed tails-up,the participant would receive money or a gift voucher,while if the coin landed heads-up,they would get(84)nothing.Because they were on the phone,they knew there was no (85)risk of getting caught if they lied.And yet people revealed the truth despite that they(86)would receive (receive) nothing.Over hundreds of tosses a coin will land tails-up roughly 50% of the time.In this study over half the people (55.6%) asked said that the coin landed heads-up.Most of them didn't pursue the reward at the (87)cost/expense/price of honesty.
Previous studies had found that people were more dishonest.In those laboratory studies 75% of people,(88)including (include) some who faked the results,reported a winning coin and claimed a reward.So the research team guesses it's being in our own home (89)that makes us play fair.(90)However,what motivates people to do so remains unclear.

He packed up all his fishing tools and set out in search of a (42)suitable (suit) spot.Eventually he came across a huge area of ice and decided that since he(43)had come (come) to the lake,he would stop there and gave it (44)a go.He took out a saw(锯) from his tool box,and started to saw a hole in the ice.(45)Suddenly (sudden),a loud voice beside him,"There is no fish here."came.The drunken man looked (46)around/about/round but he couldn't find anyone.So he decided to ignore the voice and carried on (47)sawing(saw).Again,the voice sounded,"I've told you once,there is no fish here!"He looked at the surroundings again,but there were still no people there.So he returned to his task."Stop it!"shouted the very sounding voice,"You'd better get out of here quickly (48)or you will get into trouble.""Who are you?"The drunken guy shouted."You don't scare me!""Watch out and listen to me,"(49)replied(reply) the voice,"I'm the(50)manager(manage) of this Skating Rink!(溜冰场)"
