        Beauty has always been regarded as something praiseworthy.Almost everyone thinks attractive people
    are happier and healthier, have better marriages and have more respectable occupations.Personal
    consultants give them better advice for finding jobs.Even judges are softer on attractive defendants(被告).But in the executive circle, beauty can become a liability.
        While attractiveness is a positive factor for a man on his way up the executive ladder, it is harmful to a
    woman.
        Handsome male executives were thought as having more integrity than plainer men；effort and ability
    were thought to account for their success.
        Attractive female executives were considered to have less integrity than unattractive ones；their
    success was attributed not to ability but to factors such as luck.
        All unattractive women executives were thought to have more integrity and to be more capable than
    the attractive female executives.Interestingly, though, the rise of the unattractive overnight successes was
    attributed more to personal relationships and less to ability than that of attractive overnight successes.
        Why are attractive women not thought to be able?An attractive woman is thought to be more feminine
    and an attractive man more masculine(有男子气概的)than the less attractive ones.Thus, an attractive woman has an advantage in traditionally female jobs, but an attractive woman in a traditionally masculine
    positio n appears to lack the"masculine"qualities required.
        This is true even in politics."When the only clue is how he or she looks, people treat men and women
    differently, "says Anne Bowman, who recently published a study on the effects of attractiveness on
    political candidates.She asked 125 undergraduate students to rank two groups of photographs, one of
    men and one of women, in order of attractiveness.The students were told the photographs were of
    candidates for political offices.They were asked to rank them again, in the order they would vote for
    them.
         The results showed that attractive males utterly defeated unattractive men, but the women who had
    been ranked most attractive invariably received the fewest votes.

         Margaret, married with two small children, has been working for the last seven years as a night cleaner,
    cleaning offices in a big building.
         She trained as a nurse, but had to give it up when her elder child became seriously ill. "I would have liked

    building where she works is fully lit, and the women work in groups of three. "Since I've got to be here, I try
    to enjoy myself-and I usually do, because of the other girls. We all have a good laugh, so the time never
    drags."
         Another challenge Margaret has to face is the reaction of other people when she tells them what she does
    for a living. "They think you're a cleaner because you don't know how to read and write," said Margaret. "I
    used to think what my parents would say if they knew what I'd been doing, but I don't think that way any
    more. I don't dislike the work though I can't say I'm mad about it."

         A vertical farm is a concept farm which is planted on levels or floors.A sky scraper type
    building can house a vertical farm.Since the garden is built upwards,rather than outwards,it

    that actually seem to do better.
         In some climates,a lack of sunlight creates a short growing season. The solar power option
    may not work as well here.The addition of grow lights would make it possible to grow crops

         You are given many opportunities in life to choose to be a victim or creator. When you choose to be
    a victim, the world is a cold and difficult place. "They" did things to you which caused all of your pain and
    suffering. "They" are wrong and bad, and life is terrible as long as "they" are around. Or you may blame

    inspiration, and other qualities which inspire not only themselves, but all around them. Both victims and
    creators always have choice to determine the direction of their lives.
         In reality, all of us play the victim or the creator at various points in our lives. One person, on losing a
    job or a special relationship, may feel as if it is the end of the world and sink into terrible suffering for
    months, years, or even a lifetime. Another with the same experience may choose to first experience the
    grief, then accept the loss and soon move on to be a powerful creative force in his life.

         Kelly Reeves was getting ready for a trip when her phone slipped into a sink full of water.
    Panic moment! She quickly picked up the wet phone and tried to turn it on, but nothing worked.
    Her first reaction? She got dressed, drove to the nearest store, and bought a new model at full price.    
         A new study finds that fear of losing your phone is a common illness. About 66 percent of those
    surveyed suffer from nomophobia or "no mobile phone phobia". Interestingly, more women worry
    about losing their phone than men.    
         Fortunately, there's a solution.    
         The first step is to figure out if you have nomophobia. Checking your phone too often is one thing,
    but the true sign of a problem is that you can't conduct business or go about your routine when the fear
    becomes so severe.    
         Do you go to unusual lengths to make sure you have your phone? That's another sign of a problem.
    If you find you check your phone plenty of times per hour, or a total of an hour per day, there may be
    a problem.    
         Some of the treatments are similar to those for treating anxiety attacks: Leaving the phone behind
    and not checking e-mail or text messages, and then learning to tolerate the after anxiety. Even if this
    leads to a high level of worry and stress, the solution is to push through the fear and learn to deal with
    not having your phone.    
         Of course, there are also technological alternatives. Luis Levy, a co-founder at Novy PR, says he
    uses an application called Cerberus that can automatically track the location of his phone. To find it, he
    can just go to a Web site and see the phone's location.    
         He also insures his phone through a service called Asurion. The company's description of its product
    reads like a prescription for anxiety: "60 million phones are lost, stolen or damaged each year. You'll
    have complete peace of mind knowing that your phone is protected and you can quickly reconnect
    with family,friends and work, as soon as the very next day!"
