It seems recently that more and more of my friends are facing some seemingly unbeatable challenges in their lives. Some have lost their jobs and some have __ 【小题1】___ (fail) marriages. All too many have health problems.
I don’t know if it is desperation __【小题2】___ causes them to turn to me for advice or whether they have come to value our friendship. But __【小题3】___ is difficult to offer words of hope when all they feel is hopeless. They expect answers to get them back __【小题4】___ their feet again.
I have often struggled with what to say, ___【小题5】___ (most) because I have faced many of the same challenges in my own life. I remember how empty I felt after someone cheerfully offered words like “Things will get better!”
Now , being thought of __【小题6】___ a source of hope or a good example of what to do through printed words, I have even __【小题7】___ (many) people contacting me.
So what do I say? “Begin again.”
It sounds too simple, __【小题8】___ it is indeed the answer. All life __【小题9】___(challenge) bring about an ending and the chance for __【小题10】___(begin).
【小题1】failed
【小题2】that
【小题3】it
【小题4】on
【小题5】mostly
【小题6】as
【小题7】more
【小题8】but
【小题2】that 。从结构判断此处是 强调句式it is ......that......,判断方法是去掉it is ......that......
【小题3】it 。此处是固定句型it is adj +to do 结构,it是形式主语,真正的主语为to offer words of hope),所以填it。
【小题4】on。
【小题6】as 。固定短语think of sb as ......,“认为某人是.....”,所以填as。
【小题7】more 。
【小题8】but。

Talking to friends on WeChat, Wang Chenchen’s mood changes according to her friends’ replies. Long sentences are always heartwarming and happy emoticons indicate the other person’s good spirits. But one word replies like “OK”, “Oh” or “hehe” quickly kill the mood.
Over-reliance on online communication is causing division between people and social anxiety in this digital era. With social media bringing people closer together than ever before, a new set of online language norms also appears.
Connected or separated
Wang Chenchen, 20, an English major at the University of International Business and Economics says, “I tend to judge my friends by the quality and speed with which they comment on my updates on Weibo or WeChat.”
But to Chen Jie, 21, a biological engineering major at Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Wang’s evaluation system is problematic. “Everyone has their lifestyle and a certain way of using social media,” says Chen, who is always busy working in the laboratory and hardly has time for social media.
Ge Yan, a professor of communication at Shanghai Jiaotong University, says social media is causing fragmentation (碎片化) of communication. “People tend to judge their surroundings by the information available,” says Ge. “They also evaluate their friendships and others’ lifestyles based on fragmented pieces of information with which they construct a so-called reality.”
Need for emotion
According to Ge, such superficial communication helps encourage more interaction between people, but in terms of building solid interpersonal relationships it causes more harm than good. An online survey on Sina Weibo last month shows, “hehe” was the top conversation killer in 2013. “The words people hate all have one thing in common — a lack of emotion,” says Ge.
Zhang Wei, a professor of linguistics at Renmin University of China, thinks that such short expressions carry so little emotion that they separate people. Chatting online cannot convey the same emotions as communication in real life. This makes it difficult to understand the other person’s true intentions. “That’s why I always suggest talking face to face to resolve problems,” says Zhang. “Unfortunately the reality is that most people spend less time talking to each other in this way.”
Anxiety and insecurity
Zhang further explains that the reason why people’s mood is strongly affected by such unemotional words when communicating online is rooted in social anxiety. People feel insecure because of all kinds of pressures. It’s like a vicious circle — “Less time for face-to-face communication leads to more online communication, but online expressions of emotion are too changeable to provide the comfort needed,” says Zhang. “As a result, people become more anxious.”

What are the children in post-90s era like?
By carefully studying and analyzing the interactive relations between the growth of youth and the change of social environment in China, Professor Yang Xiong, a research fellow from Institute of Children's Studies, Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences summarized several similarities shared by the children in post 90s era.
I. They have an avant-garde(前卫的) concept of consumption and strong desires and lay excessive(过度的) emphasis on the importance and the amount of money and the way how to get money. A survey on under-10 children in Shanghai and Paris over their ideal career in the future showed that children in France preferred the profession of sportsman, rock & roll singer and sailing boat athlete; whereas children in China wanted to be boss, entrepreneur and leader, and desired vehicle and villa. They have been influenced by their parents, schools and the society they lived in to some extent.
II. They are in great need of a sense of loyalty to teams. Some social phenomena have weakened their interests toward loyalty, and they advocate individualism. Actually, some parents would subconsciously encourage their children to do something selfish rather than contribute to the team.
III. They are closer to the new media than their parents are and they are prone to(易于) fall the victims during the process of globalization. They have broader visions and possess pluralistic(多元的) ways in accepting information. Meanwhile, they are better developed in terms of psychology and intelligence, with wide range of knowledge and a precocious(早熟的) inner world. But it seems that such qualities more likely to make them feel hollow.
IV. Some social realities have made them understand that they should pay more attention to concrete things rather than abstract philosophy. And some of them concern more about their comfortable lives and the way of making living.
Prof. Yang held that the weakness of the children in post 90s era required early attention. Adults, parents should set an example for the children and take the responsibility. Along with the social development, children of post 90s era will become a generation of all-round development.

Criticism (批评) is everywhere in life. It is up to you to decide how to react to it. Learn how to deal with criticism and lead a happier and more relaxing life.
Ask yourself how the criticism will affect you. Will you lose your job because of the criticism? Will you lose what is important to you because you are criticized? Will life stop existing if your opinions are not accepted? Surely not! So, don’t worry about it. Instead, remember that some criticism actually helps you make some improvements.
You absolutely cannot stop what people say. What you can do, however, is to change the way you react to criticism. If you let it upset you, then the blame is on you. You have the right to decide what to do with the criticism you receive.
Don’t be afraid to accept criticism. No one likes to be told that he is wrong. Yet, every single person has, at one time or another, been blamed for something. Realize that it’s normal. You may have received some strong criticism, but it doesn’t mean that you are foolish, or that you don’t have the ability to do something properly. If you are afraid to put your work out for others to see, you’ll never know if you are a capable person. Try not to think of it in that way and don’t take it seriously. If you can learn to be optimistic, you will remove some stress and nervousness about what people think, thus becoming happier.
Consider where the criticism comes from. It may help you step back and examine what causes the criticism. Is the critic just trying to offer constructive criticism? It is much easier to accept correction or guidance from someone that has good intentions. This type of criticism is known as valid criticism, because there is a valid point or reason to it. On the other hand, there are critics that offer their advice just to be negative. This is commonly referred to as invalid criticism because it is often not of any use at all.
Do your best. And if someone doesn’t like what you’ve done, so what? It’s either valid criticism or invalid criticism. But you have the power to decide how you will allow it to affect you.
