In my hometown there used to have a temple with a history of over eight hundreds years. It lies in a valley with green hills around them . It was such beautiful and famous that many tourists came to visit to it every day. They took photo; they wrote down their names on the walls; they brought foods, drinks and left rubbish everywhere. One day some tourists made a fire to cooking food near the temple. Sudden, a strong wind blew. The wooden temple caught fire. Soon the whole temple was burned out but only a few walls remained. The beautiful temple disappeared.
1. have—be
2. hundreds—hundred
3. lies—lay
4.them—it
5. such—so
6.去掉to
7. photo—photos
8.cooking—cook
9. Sudden—Suddenly
10. but—and
第一处:there be句型表示某地有某物,used to(过去常常)后接动词原形,故要将have改为be。
故要将them改为it。
以至于so…that,so+形容词。 故要将such改为so。
故去掉to。
故but改为and。

When a leafy plant is under attack ,it doesn't sit quietly. Back in 1983, two scientists, Jack Schultz and Ian Baldwin, reported that young maple trees getting bitten by insects send out a particular smell that neighboring plants can get. These chemicals come from the injured parts of the plant and seem to be an alarm. What the plants pump through the air is a mixture of chemicals known as volatile organic compounds,VOCs for short.
Scientists have found that all kinds of plants give out VOCs when being attacked .It's a plant's way of crying out.But is anyone listening?Apparently.Because we can watch the neighbours react.
Some plants pump out smelly chemicals to keep insects away. But others do double duty .They pump out perfumes designed to attract different insects who are natural enemies to the attackers. Once they arrive, the tables are turned. The attacker who was lunching now becomes lunch.
In study after study,it appears that these chemical conversations help the neighbors .The damage is usually more serious on the first plant, but the neighbors ,relatively speaking ,stay safer because they heard the alarm and knew what to do.
Does this mean that plants talk to each other? Scientists don't know. Maybe the first plant just made a cry of pain or was sending a message to its own branches, and so, in effect, was talking to itself. Perhaps the neighbors just happened to “overhear” the cry. So information was exchanged, but it wasn't a true, intentional back and forth.
Charles Darwin, over 150 years ago, imagined a world far busier, noisier and more intimate(亲密的) than the world we can see and hear. Our senses are weak. There's a whole lot going on.

Everyone have a dream. We are on the way to achieving it whether the way is smooth or tough. As Senior 3 student, I have the same dream as my classmates that I can be admitted to an ideal university. In the past three year, I have done everything I can to equip myself with that I have learnt from my teachers. Not only have I enjoyed the pleasure of study but also I have got more closer to my dream. Anxiety and pressure do discourage from me at times and with the encouragement of my teachers and classmates, I think I’ll make it.
I’m sure that there has still a long way to go to achieve my dream. No matter what challenging it is, I’ll make it come true. As the proverb said, “Where there’s a will, there’s a way.”

Everyone knows that fish is good for health. But it seems that many people don't cook fish at home. Americans eat only about fifteen pounds of fish per person per year, but we eat twice as much fish in restaurants as at home. Buying, storing, and cooking fish isn't difficult. This text is about how to buy and cook fish inan easy way.
Fresh fish should smell sweet: you should feel that you're standing at the ocean's edge. Any fishy or strong smell means the fish isn’t fresh. When you have bought a fish and arrive home, you’d better store the fish in the refrigerator if you don't cook it immediately, but fresh fish should be stored in your fridge for only a day or two. Frozen fish isn't as tasty as the fresh one.
There are many common methods used to cook fish. First, lean it and season it with your choiceof spices(调料). Put the whole fish on a plate and steam it in a steam pot for 8 to 10 minutes if it weighs about one pound. (A larger one will take more time.) Then,it's ready to serve.
A. Do not buy it?
B. The easiest is tosteam it.
C. This is how youcan do it.
D. It just requiresa little knowledge.
E. The fish will gobad within hours.
F. When buying fish, you should first smell it.
G. The fats in fishare thought to help prevent heart disease.
