One morning while Officer Vogel was on his coffee break in a restaurant, a man ran in a yelled. “Officer! A little kid is driving a car down the street!"
He ran out at once and saw a cargoing slowly--about 25 miles an hour--but it wasn't going very straight. He jumped into his police car and followed it. When the car was stopped, Officer Vogel looked inside. The driver was a little boy. His name was Rocco Morabiro and he was 5. In the back seat was his two-year-old sister. Both children were crying.
"I want my mummy!" the boy cried. "But she can't get here. I have the car.” Then he had an idea. "Just a minute." he told Officer Vogel. "I can drive. I'll go to get her.”
“No!" Officer Vogel said. “You stay with me!" Then he drove them to the police station and he called their mother. They had many questions for Rocco. The first question was: "Where did you get the car keys?"
Rocco said. “From the top of the refrigerator." At seven that morning Rocco's father was at work and his mother was sleeping, Rocco saw the keys on top of the refrigerator. He climbed up on a chair, and took the keys.
Rocco got into the car and started the engine. When Rocco's sister heard the engine, she ran to the car and cried. She wanted to go with him.
It was 7 a. m.---rush hour---so there was much traffic. Rocco drove one mile in heavy traffic. Then Officer Vogel stopped him.
Newspapers and TV stations heard about Rocco, and a lot of reporters went to his house. One reporter asked Rocco, “What do you want to be when you grow up?"
“A truck driver," he said, smiling.

根据第四段中的“Then he drove them to the police station and he called their mother. They had many questions for Rocco.”可知,Rocco和他的妹妹被带到警察局是去等他们的妈妈来处理这个事情。故选D。
(3)考查推理判断。根据最后一段中的“Newspapers and TV stations heard about Rocco, and a lot of reporters went to his house.”可知那么多报社和电视台的记者都去采访这Rocco,可以推断出Rocco这么小的孩子能开车是如此让人难以置信。故选A.

【题目】As a videogame producer, John Day has created popular games such as “Meet the Robinsons”, “Car 2” and “Toy Story 3”.

When he was young, Day spent lots of time playing videogames, but getting game ideas from his imagination to the screen required plenty of technical know-how, too. Luckily for Day, his father worked in the computer industry and shared his knowledge. However, Day says, “Each time he caught me playing games as a kid, his trademark phrase was, ‘You’re never going to amount to anything, wasting all that time on these videogames.’”

“I built my first PC when I was 11,” Day says, “and I never really stopped.”

While studying business management in college, Day also worked as a game tester. Both his education and job experience help him now as he comes up with new ideas, meets deadlines and solves problems.

A videogame producer is in charge of a game’s development from beginning to end. Day says, “All producers have to be designers, at least a little bit.” Another part of Day’s job is getting things done on time and within budget. “We have to create a product before a certain date, and it takes work to get there.” Sometimes that can be a challenge. Problems come up often when he’s working on a game, and in his fast-paced industry, missing a deadline is not allowed.

In his job, Day answers to many people who are expecting high-quality games. That’s a lot of responsibility, but Day believes these demands help him do his job better. Part of the excitement for him is not just playing a game, but also being able to share it with others.

“With a finished product, it’s really great to finally be able to sit down with my friends and family, and say, ‘Look, this is what I’ve been doing all this time. Let’s play it together.’”

【题目】I like writing; I like meeting people; I like discovering new things, then telling everyone about them; and I couldn’t keep a secret if you paid me. So I became a journalist.

I wrote for my school magazine, did unpaid work on my local paper, took a master’s degree, got a part-time job, and then became a full-time journalist.

Or at least that is what my resume would say; but the life of a journalist is more exciting than that---even if that excitement can come with a side of pain and frustration.

I have lost count of the numbers of e-mails I have had ignored. I have spent hours at meetings listening as hard as I could for a story---only to go home empty-handed.

Once I ran around knocking on doors in a dark, dangerous-looking street in the snow to find a woman who (my editor had told me) “woke at night to find water pouring on her head”. Somehow I found her. I took photos. I interviewed her, the building owner and the fireman. I wrote the story...then I opened the paper to find it at the back, which on name on it, only 100 words long.

Strangely, though, that challenge made me want to keep going. If you do succeed, the rewards of journalism are truly great.

I once wrote about an old people’s home where residents, including a 90-year-old blind man, were living in rooms that were full of fleas, and being told to do their own repairs. A week after the story was published, the residents phoned me, overjoyed. The managers had apologized and promised to change their ways.

Journalism can be dangerous and dull, and the pay (at least in the UK) is usually terrible. But it’s also one of the most thrilling, rewarding jobs around. For me, there is no better career than making a difference- and telling the world about it.

1What is the article mainly about?

A. Getting started in a career in journalism

B. The author’s colorful experiences as a journalist.

C. How you can be a good journalist.

D. Why life is easier for male journalist.

2According to the author, her frustration in her job often comes from_______.

A. unfair treatment

B. fruitless efforts

C. misunderstanding

D. danger and risks

3What deeply attracts the author as a journalist is that _______.

A. she gets to see her name printed

B. she earns a lot through writing fun stories

C. she can meet different people and hear their stories

D. she can help others and bring about changes in people’s lives

4From the article we can conclude that the author_______.

A. is not good at keeping secrets.

B. does not mind the challenges in her career.

C. is not appreciated by her editor.

D. is interested in exciting and dangerous work.
