    Similarly，there are problems with"no problem"and"no worries"．To those not used to hearing them，they can sound"as though their gesture of appreciation was taken as an apology for bothering you"，said The Huffington Post．
    In fact，today many young people tend to respond to being thanked with"no problem"，which older people find rude．Yet it is not just a generation probelm，but also a linguistic（语言学的） one．
    Both"you're welcome"and"no problem"are phatic（寒暄的） expressions．Often English speakers use a phatic response when they don't know what else to say．They may say"I'm OK，"for example，even when they are not．They know people aren't usually asking how they are，so they answer phatically．But"because‘thank you'is a sincere expression，many common phatic responses sound empty compared to it"，Buzzfeed noted．
    So what is the appropriate reply？Buzzfeed gives an answer．Just reply to"thank you"by saying"thank you"back．"This response is still phatic，but it can't be misunderstood，"said the website．
