I saw a foreigner there who tried to tell the shop assistant of something but the foreigner couldn't make himself understood. I went up and was willing to help them. The assistant asked me if I could speak English and help her to ask the foreigner what he wanted. I turned to the foreigner and asked, “Can I help you?” “Oh, yes please. I want to buy a map of Beijing.” He answered. I told the shop assistant so and she gave me an English edition of Map of Beijing. I showed the map to the foreigner, who seemed glad and said, “It is just what I want. Thank you for your help. Your English is very good.” I felt very pleased and excited, for this was the first time I had ever talked with a foreigner in English, and I did give him a little help.
