¡¾ÌâÄ¿¡¿Natural resources are things ¡¾1¡¿ exist in nature and can be used by people. Some natural resources are renewable, like trees. When one tree is cut down, we can plant a new tree to replace it. Others, ¡¾2¡¿, are not renewable, like the coal dug out of the ground. Once it is used, it is ¡¾3¡¿. (go)

Although we all know that our natural resources are limited, we often waste them in our daily life. Paper, bottles and cans ¡¾4¡¿ (throw) away carelessly; food is wasted just because of its poor taste; clothes are rejected ¡¾5¡¿ (simple) due to their old fashion. These valuable natural resources will run out before long ¡¾6¡¿ better use is made of them.

Actually, everyone can make contributions (¹±Ï×) to ¡¾7¡¿ (protect) our natural resources. For example, ¡¾8¡¿riding a bicycle or walking instead of driving, we can save lots of petrol. Water is a very important natural resource because we all need ¡¾9¡¿ to stay alive. We can make wise¡¾10¡¿ (choose) to save water, like reusing the water that has been used to wash vegetables to water flowers.

This year, our school called on us students to make a good use of our time and do some socially practice during the holiday, so I found a job and began to work in a small restaurant. I thought it was easy, and it turned out to be a hard one by a matter of fact. I spend the whole morning washing dish and setting tables. I didn't have lunch until it was two in the afternoon. After lunch, I immediately began to work again, does the same things until 11 pm. It took myself more than ten hours in a day to work there! However, through the hard work, I've come to understand the value of hard work. I've also realized what difficult it is my parents to support the family. Therefore, I am now determined to study harder to repay my parents.

I'm Evan Ducker. I'm just like every other 15-year-old boy, except I was born with a red birthmark(Ì¥¼Ç).
Some birthmarks are signs of serious medical conditions. I'm very fortunate¡ªmine isn't. I pretty much live a regular life, except for people asking me about it all the time, which can get annoying(ÄÕÈ˵Ä) sometimes.
When I was about 4 years old, I asked my mom why there weren't any characters with birthmarks in the books she would read to me. When we went to the library, we realized there weren't any available for little kids. Worse than that, the books available to older kids and adults described characters with birthmarks as unattractive. So I decided to write my own.
I based the story on all the real things that happened in my life. But instead of people, the characters in the book are real animals from the Galapagos Islands, including red-footed booby birds(öäÄñ). I picked a booby bird as the main character because the birds have red feet due to a vascular(Ѫ¹ÜµÄ)condition, similar to a human birthmark!
It was really tough to get my book published. It took a long time because a lot of publishers refused to publish it. They would say there wasn't a big enough market for a book about birthmarks.
But my mom never gave up trying to help make my dream come true. And in 2005, she finally took her own money and self-published ¡°Buddy Booby's Birthmark¡±. After it was published, I got letters from readers all over the world. They all shared their stories and thanked me for sharing mine. Teachers wrote to tell me that my book changed the way classmates treated each other and that my book was helping kids to accept and appreciate their differences.
Then, as more teachers started reading my book, I created a free global reading event, the ¡°International Buddy Booby¡¯s Birthmark Read¡ªAlong for Tolerance and Awareness.¡±
