Good morning everyone,
     I'm Mali from Class3.

     Thank you!
Good morning everyone.
I'm Mali from Class3. Our class are going to visit poor children in a remote mountainous area on
behalf of our school this winter vacation. Nowadays, though our life has been improved a lot, there
still exists a group of people who have to strive to survive and poor children are exactly among them.
Compared with children in modern cities, those poor children have been deprived so much since they
were born. They are lacking in basic materials to support normal life, for example, in many remote
villages, water is scarce resource, so many poor children need to cover a really long distance to get
water. Besides, poor children also cannot receive qualified education. What is worse, many of them are
confronted with health problems.
The most obvious reason seems to be connected with the backward economy. Were the economy
to take off, other fundamental facilities would be enhanced in response, such as education. Despite the
influence of economy, closed local culture is another block in the way that poor children get to know the
outside world.
With consideration of the misery of poor children, we have the responsibility to help them. So here I
suggest that we contribute ourselves to the process of assisting poor children. We can make one of them
as our permanent pal friend. Through the communication between us, he or she can get more access to
the outside world. We can also donate some money and clothes to them.
     Thank you!

Earth Hour is an annual international event set up by the WWF (World Wildlife Fund) and held on
the last Saturday of March. It asks families and factories to turn off their non-essential(²»±ØÒªµÄ) lights
and electrical appliances(µçÆ÷) for one hour to raise awareness(Òâʶ) of the need to take action on
climate change. It was first held in Australia in 2007, and achieved worldwide participation(²Î¼Ó) in
2008.
Earth Hour 2008 was the biggest voluntary power down in history. More than 370 cities in 35
countries took part and celebrated Earth Hour in their local ways. Businesses, school groups,
communities and individuals celebrated all over the world with candle-lit dinners, torch parties, and street
celebrations. Symbolic(±êÖ¾ÐÔµÄ) buildings and landmarks went dark, including the Sydney Opera
House, the Sears Tower, and the Coliseum in Rome.
The WWF is sending a message to the people around the world that Earth Hour is the perfect
opportunity for individuals, governments, schools, businesses and communities from all over to unite in
a common purpose, and in response to a global issue that affects us all.
