How to Improve Eyesight Naturally
Eyes are important for everybody. You must take care and try everything in hand to keep them in good condition. Here are some tips to improve your eyesight naturally.
1. Strain is known to be a factor in many health conditions and eye strain is no exception. Try meditation, yoga or other methods of stress relief to improve your vision and overall health.
Try palming.
Sit upright in a comfortable chair. 2. Cup your hands so that there is no pressure on your eyes. Let your fingers rest across your forehead. There should be no light entering your eyes. Palming should be done for a period of 5 to 10 minutes to start. Palming should be relaxing. It may help to do palming in a darkened room.
Avoid sugar as much as possible.
3. It will unpleasantly affect your eyesight, which affects the eyes by producing a larger amount of insulin (胰岛素) in the blood. Therefore you shouldn't be having much fruit juice or something that contains a lot of sugar.
Exercise your eyes.
The only exercise most eyes get is daily rubbing when we're tired or suffering from eye strain. But eye exercise is actually good for your eyes and can improve your vision. 4. Blink as fast as you can for a few seconds, then close your eyes tightly, open and repeat. Do this exercise 3 to 4 times daily.
Eat healthy foods.
You probably hear the statement all the time that eating the right foods is necessary for good health. 5.Foods that are high in fiber, vitamin C, D and beta?carotene as well as other vitamins and minerals can help improve your vision. Here are a few foods that can be beneficial to good vision: carrots, eggs, blueberries, spinach, kale, grapes, and fresh garlic.
A.Reduce eye strain.
B.Keep your eyes moist.
C.Sugar is your eyes' worst enemy.
D.Give your eyes a workout with the following exercise.
E.You may not be aware that your diet affects your vision, but it does.
F.Close your eyes and cover them with the palms of your hands.
G.Be sure to get plenty of sleep so that your eyes don't strain to stay open during the day.

阅读下面短文,根据其内容写一篇60词左右的内容概要。
Pets are popular. They’re good listeners, they encourage us to exercise, and they’re always on our side when we argue with others. They can bring people comfort and pleasure.
But it is important to keep in mind that pets can carry diseases that can make you sick. Washing your hands often — especially after you touch, feed, or clean up a pet — is the best way to keep yourself healthy and prevent the spread of disease. Be sure to clean your fingernails(指甲)carefully every time you wash.
You also can protect your health by wearing gloves while cleaning animal cages or cat litter boxes. Avoid washing your pet in the bathtub (浴缸), but if you do, always disinfect (消毒) the tub immediately afterward.
Be sure to bring your pet to the hospital for examinations every two weeks or month and whenever your pet is sick or injured.
You can do a few other things to keep yourself and your pet healthy. Only give your pet food that has been planned ahead for them. It’s not a good idea to share your food with your pet. Human food (like chocolate) can make animals sick. Never feed your pet raw meat because it can carry germs (细菌) that cause serious illness.
And funny as it can be to see your dog or cat drinking from the toilet, don’t let pets do this. It’s bad for your pet’s health! Give them clean, fresh water to drink at all times.
Never give milk to cats. The only milk an animal should drink is from its mother. Cow’s milk is not for pets, especially for cats, as it makes them sick.
Finally, some animals aren’t pets. Don’t take in a wild or abandoned (被抛弃的) animal as a pet because it may have diseases that could make you or your family sick. Instead, turn to an animal rescue group that is trained in helping sick or abandoned animals.

People are overweight for many reasons, the most important one of which is that they eat the wrong foods, get the wrong types of calories per meal, and they also eat meals at the wrong time each day. Food is more powerful than any weight loss pill, because the food that you eat can either make you thin or fat. This is true because your body is like an engine, and it only needs certain foods at certain intervals(间隔) each day.
Low-calorie Diets Do Not Work
The reason people cannot lose weight by starving themselves is that their metabolism(新陈代谢) will detect any major drop in calories and it will then adjust itself by burning fewer calories each day. That is the reason why you can eat 1,000 calories per day and not lose any weight, while your friends can eat 2,500 calories per day and not gain any weight.
Low-fat Diets Do Not Work
Many people in today’s society are buying mostly low-fat or non-fat food at the grocery store. Everybody knows how much fat is inside the food they buy. However, people are getting fatter than ever before by doing this. They are not losing weight by changing to this low-fat lifestyle.
Losing weight has nothing to do with these things. One of the most important things you can do to control your weight is to eat the proper foods, such as fruit and vegetables, eat them at the right time, and exercise every day. If people make this a habit, they will lose weight.
1.What is the main reason why people are overweight?
A. They burn many calories every day.
B. They eat the wrong foods at the wrong time.
C. They eat food with lots of calories.
D. They don’t take weight loss pills.
2.The article is written in order to________.
A. tell readers not to buy low-fat or non-fat food.
B.tell readers about an important scientific discovery.
C.tell readers how to lose weight.
D. call on people to lose weight and stay healthy.
3.To realize the aim of your weight loss plan, you should_________.
a. do exercise every day b. eat meals at the right time
c. eat fruits and vegetables d. eat low-fat or sweet food
e. eat the proper foods at each meal
A. a, b, c, e B. a, b, d, e

Mosquitoes have an extraordinary ability to target humans far away and fly straight to their unprotected skin. Regrettably, mosquitoes can do more than cause an itchy(发痒的)wound. Some mosquitoes spread several serious diseases, including Dengue, yellow fever and malaria.
Over one million people worldwide die from these diseases each year. New research now shows how mosquitoes choose who to bite.
Mosquitoes need blood to survive. They are attracted to human skin and breath. They smell the carbon dioxide gas, which all mammals breathe out. This gas is the main way for mosquitoes to know that a warm-blooded creature is nearby.
But mosquitoes also use their eyes and sense of touch. Michael Dickinson is a professor at the California Institute of Technology. His research shows how these small insects, with even smaller brains, use three senses to find a blood meal.
Michael Dickinson’s team used plumes—a material that rises into the air of carbon dioxide gas into a wind tunnel. They then used cameras to record the mosquitoes. The insects followed the plume.
Then, the scientists placed dark objects on the lighter colored floor and walls of the tunnel. Mr. Dickinson said, at first, the mosquitoes showed no interest in the objects at all. “What was quite striking and quite surprising is that the mosquitoes fly back and forth for hours. These are hungry females and they completely ignore the objects on the floor and wall of the tunnel. But the moment they get a hit of CO2, they change their behavior quite obviously and now would become attracted to these little visual blobs (斑点).”
This suggested to the researchers that a mosquito’s sense of smell is more important in the search for food. Once mosquitoes catch a smell of a human or animal, they also follow visual signals.
1.What do mosquitoes mainly use to find their targets?
A. Sense of smell B. Sense of touch
C. Sense of sight D. Smart brains
2.The first response of the mosquitoes to the objects in the experiment is _______.
A. to fly to the dark ones
B. to catch and stick to them
C. to take no notice of them
D. to attach themselves to them
3.How can we avoid being attacked by mosquitoes according to the text?
A. Don’t let them see us.
B. Use dark objects to stop them.
C. Make them fly back and forth for hours.
D. Attract them to objects full of carbon dioxide gas.
4.What can be the best title for the text?

When Shakespeare was twenty?one, he went to London, a very interesting place, to try his fortune.
There were the famous London Bridge and St. Paul's Cathedral, and palaces and markets and long streets full of shops.
Then, too, there were the daily crowds where could be seen people from all over the world. Knights, scholars and highwaymen (拦路强盗) or thieves who had been infamous for their clever robberies, passed by each other.
Here, also, were noblemen dressed in gold, from Italy, Spain and France; slaves from Spanish America, sea captains and ministers, soldiers and servants — all held by chances or interests within the gray walls which circled London, and whose gates gave welcome to as strange a crowd as could be found in the world.
Into this curious crowd came Shakespeare, quick to see and eager to learn. And before long all these strange sights were as familiar to him as the faces of his own town's residents. Each one told its story to him so plainly that, as before he had learned the secrets of the fields and woods, so now he learned men and men's interests that make up the great world.
And he learned these lessons so well that when he came to write his plays, he made such use of them as no writer ever made before or since; for it is the use of this knowledge of the world, combined with his own genius, that makes Shakespeare the greatest dramatist that has ever lived.
1.What was London like in Shakespeare's eyes when he first went there?
A.Dirty and small. B.Strange and interesting.
C.Infamous and terrible. D.Familiar and modern.
2.Which of the following best describes Shakespeare?

Sunstroke is a condition that can quickly go from dangerous to deadly, especially if proper care isn't given immediately.
Sunstroke, sometimes called heatstroke, is a result of the body temperature rising above the safe limit. This causes the body's necessary functions to stop working.
It's usually pretty easy to avoid sunstroke, as long as proper action is taken. In that case, you need to act as quickly as possible to return that person's body to a safe temperature. Here are a few tips to help treat sunstroke.
Call for help
Call to get an ambulance as quickly as possible. This should be the first thing you do, especially if the sunstroke person has fainted (昏倒). Also, call for help from anyone nearby if you're in a public place. If there's no one around, call someone nearby if they can get there sooner than an ambulance. Ask everyone to bring you as much water as possible, if there isn't much nearby.
Get the person to a cooler area
If there's a building nearby, aim for that. Anywhere with plenty of air conditioners and water is perfect. If a building isn't available, bring the person to a well?shaded area.
Get the water flowing
If the person is still conscious, get him or her to drink water. If there's a bathtub available, fill it with cool water and put the person in it.
If your water supply is limited, you have to save it. Dampen a towel or shirt and put it on the person's body. Focus on the face, neck, and chest.
Fan the person
Getting moving air over the person cools him or her down. Use anything, a towel or sheet, a shirt, your hands, or a piece of board. This is where having many people around really helps, as they can combine to fan the entire body.
1.When does a person get sunstroke?
A.When the body doesn't function.
B.When proper care is given immediately.
C.When someone is exposed to the sun too long.
D.When the body temperature goes up beyond what one can bear.
2.What is mainly discussed in the passage?
A.The first aid for sunstroke.
B.The causes of sunstroke.
C.The chief symptoms of sunstroke.
D.The essential prevention of sunstroke.
3.Which of the following is NOT mentioned in the text?
A.Call for assistance from others.
B.Leave the sunstroke person in the shade.
C.Put a wet towel on the person's face.
D.Help the person take some medicine.
4.The text probably comes from________.
A.a guidebook B.a book review
C.a medical magazine D.an official document
