【题目】There are 8.8 million blind people in India. In fact, there are 36 million blind people worldwide and a quarter of them are in India; however, many cases of blindness in India are curable. The poor in India have limited access to primary eye healthcare and often do not eat foods rich in micronutrients, like vitamins and minerals, which play an important role in maintaining good eye health.

Many people worldwide are not even aware that they may have a vision (视力) problem simply because they do not get their eyes tested every year with a doctor, who tests for the functioning of the eye muscles (肌肉), as well as common diseases like night blindness. This exam is strongly recommended by experts because some changes in vision, which the patient may take longer to notice, can be found easily in this way.

Certain simple changes in diet and lifestyle can ensure better eye health for you. These include drinking plenty-of water, not smoking, and eating brightly colored and leafy fruit and vegetables. Wearing sunglasses protects your eyes from the sun, which damages otherwise healthy eyes. Learn about your family's eye disease history, and be on the lookout for any problem about your vision. Make sure that you see a doctor immediately for early intervention(干预) if you see any of these signs of worsening eye health.

If you or a loved one needs to cure blindness or other eye diseases, turn to a crowdfunding (众筹) platform. A group of eye health caregivers have fundraised with crowdfunding platform Impact Guru to raise money to perform operations on the eyes of blind women in south Asia. Running an online fundraiser enables both doctors and patients to find a way out of the dark. If you want eye care to develop, start a fundraiser today.

1Why are there so many blind people in India?

A. There is a lack of eye hospitals in India.

B. People pay no attention to their eyes at all.

D. The environment damages their eyes.

2What does the author suggest in Paragraph 2?

A. Examining your eyes annually.

B. Strengthening muscles every day.

D. Attaching importance to self-examination.

3Which of the following may do harm to your eyes?

A. Smoking a lot. B. Wearing sunglasses.

C. Drinking much water. D. Watching brightly-colored pictures.

【题目】 How to say hello in Japanese depends on(取决于) when you say it. This is very much like different greetings used in English at different times of the day or night. In Japanese culture, it also depends on whether you are on the phone or meeting somebody or whether you are close to the person you are greeting. We don’t get formal with our close friends. We seldom greet them with “Good morning “ or “Good evening”. A “Hi” is enough.

Although the most popular and most well-known translation for “Hello” is still “Konnichiwa”, it is not exactly how to say hello in Japanese. It is not the most suitable word for it. Actually, the correct greeting in English for “Konnichiwa” is “Good day” or “Good noon,” and I am sure you wouldn’t like greeting people with a “Good day” at any time, and neither do Japanese like saying “Konnichiwa” when they want to say “Hello”.

So what to do? Let’s do it the way the Japanese do. Use “Ohaiyo Gozaimasu” for “Good morning”, “Konnichiwa” when it’s noon and “Konbanwa” to greet somebody in the afternoon. Things differ when you are on the phone. Just say “Moshi, Moshi”, which is actually similar to saying “Hello” over the phone, because one hardly ever uses “Good morning” or “Good evening” right after picking up the phone. Next time, I’ll tell something about my life in Japan.

1What is the best title for this passage?

A.How to greet close friends in Japanese.B.How to greet people in Japanese.

C.Some difference between English and Japanese.D.How to say hello in Japanese.

2Japanese people greet each other by saying “______” in the afternoon.

A.KonnichiwaB.Ohaiyo GozaimasuC.KonbanwaD.A.Moshi, Moshi

3In the writer’s opinion,______.

A.Japanese people don’t like using “Konnichiwa” as a greeting for the whole day.

B.people don’t need to be polite to their close friends

C.Japanese people are very friendly to each other

D.Japanese culture is similar to American culture

4We can learn from the passage that the writer_______.

A.lived in Japan for some timeB.is working in a radio station now

C.knows both Japanese and ChineseD.is from Britain
