【题目】A new generation addiction(上瘾) is quickly spreading all over the world. Weboholism(网瘾), a twentieth century disease, affects people from different ages. They surf the net, use e-mail and speak in chat rooms. They spend many hours on the computer, and it becomes a compulsive habit. They cannot stop, and it affects their lives.

Ten years ago, no one thought that using computers could become compulsive behavior that could affect the social and physical life of computer users. Such behavior has seriously affected teenagers and college students. They are likely to log(写日志) on computers and spend long hours at different websites.

They become hooked(着迷) on computers and gradually their social and school life is affected by this situation. They spend all free time surfing and don’t concentrate on homework, so this addiction influences their grades and success at school. Because they can find everything on the websites, they hang out there. Moreover, this addiction to websites influences their social life.

They spend more time in front of computers than with their friends. The relation with their friends changes. The virtual life becomes more important than their real life. They have a new language that they speak in the chat rooms and it causes cultural changes in society.

Because of the change in their behavior, they begin to isolate themselves from society and live with their virtual(虚拟的) friends. They share their emotions and feelings with friends who they have never met in their life. Although they feel confident on the computer, they are not confident with real life friends they have known all their life. It is a problem for the future. This addictive behavior is beginning to affect all the world.

【解析】

试题分析:文章讲述了新时代的一个普遍而又影响深远的问题——网瘾,它造成很多不良的后果

【1】C 主旨大意题。纵观全文可知,本文主要讲述“网瘾的不良后果。故选C。

【2】B 根据a twentieth century disease, affects people from different ages.可知网瘾影响各个年龄层的人,不只是青少年,故A不对根据最后一段,可知学生们沉迷于虚拟世界的朋友与生活,不能平衡与现实世界的关系,故B正确根据They are likely to log(写日志) on computers and spend long hours at different websites. 大家不仅玩游戏,也上网浏览各类网站,故C不全面根据The virtual life becomes more important than their real life.

【题目】 The loneliest chimp(黑猩猩)in the world just got the best surprise------a hug from a new friend.Ponso has been by himself for nearly three years, finding himself alone after his wife and children died on the island where they were abandoned by a medical testing company many years ago.

For years a nearby villager named Germain has been Ponso’s only company, visiting him so often to bring bananas and bread—the chimp’s only source of food on the tiny island. It was clear how much Ponso missed companionship when he was recently visited by Chimpanzee Conservation Centre Director Estelle Raballand. The chimp immediately embraced Estelle Raballand in a huge hug and laughed as she reached out for him, with his smile from ear to ear.

For those who know Ponso’s backstory, his immediate ease and trust in humans might be surprising.Ponso was one of 20 chimps, all between the ages of 7 to 11 years old, relocated to an island off the Ivory Coast after being used for testing by the New York Blood Centre. After the tests were completed in 2005,the lab reportedly transferred the chimps to a string of islands, occasionally dropping off food and water because there was none in the chimps’ new homes.

Disease and hunger soon left only Ponso, his mate and their two children standing. But at the end of 2013 they died within days of each other and Ponso was now completely alone.

【题目】According to EMTP and Stat Gear CEO Avi Goldstein, every driver should be taught how to get out of a car when it becomes submerged in water.

“Accidents and natural disasters often occur so quickly that it’s essential for drivers to be prepared,” says Goldstein. “In this case, preparation is simply knowing what should be done before it happens.”

Goldstein offers the following lifesaving tips:

1.Try to stay calm. The worst thing you can do is become overly agitated and panicked.

2. Don’t try to open the door. This will cause the car fill with water very quickly.

3. Unfasten your seat belt or cut it if it’s jammed.

4. Help free anyone else in the car.

5. Use a window punch preferably spring-loaded. It’s nearly impossible to break a car window with your hands or feet.

6. Exit through the broken window and swim up to safety.

“Every car should be equipped with a window punch and seat belt cutter, but they are usually completely forgotten by car owners,” says Goldstein. For example, the T3 Tactical Auto Rescue Tool from Stat Gear features a 440c stainless steel serrated knife, seat belt cutter, spring-loaded window punch and LED light.

Goldstein asserts that the T3 or another similar tool should always be within arms length of a driver. “If for any reason a driver becomes pinned into his or her seat, emergency tools need to be within reach--otherwise they are useless. They will do you no good in your trunk or backseat.” The following is a quick demonstration on how to escape a sinking car with a baby on board.

【1】What is the meaning of the underlined word in paragraph 1?

A. washed B. cleaned C. stuck D. discovered

【2】According to the passage, where should you put a window punch and a seat belt cutter in your car?

A. Near the driver’s seat. B. In the trunk.

C. In the back seat. D. Under the engine.

【What will be following the passage?

A. How to save a baby in a car.

B. How to help a baby escape from a car.

C. How to escape from a sinking car with a baby.

D. How to avoid sinking a car with a baby.
