一. 阅读下面的短文,以约30个词概括短文的要点。答在题卷上

Getting up early has been regarded as a good habit since ancient times. Many years ago, people thought that if we went to bed early and got up early, we would be energetic the whole day. So, getting up early is of great importance to us all.

In fact, morning is the best time of a day. In the morning, the air is the freshest and people are usually in the best conditions. Many of us may have the experiences that we memorize some things more quickly and accurately in the morning than at any other time of the day. If we do some morning exercise or only take a short walk in the morning, we can build our bodies and become much healthier. Also we will have enough time to make a plan and get ready for our work or study of the day if we get up early. However, if we get up late, we'll probably have to do everything in a great hurry.

Let us remember getting up early is a good habit and try our best to keep it. if we stick to getting up early every day, we will certainly benefit a lot from it.

The meal you eat after exercising matters! No matter what time of day you exercise, the key is to follow the exercise up with meals that supply enough nutrition. For the best results, eat within thirty to sixty minutes after exercising, when the muscles are at the best time to take in nutrients.

Here are some ideas for meals after exercising:

Home-made sports—recovery drink

Mix banana, milk, and yogurt to make a fresh and satisfying sports—recovery drink. Dairy products like milk and yogurt work double duty, providing both protein and carbohydrates. A cup of coffee, on the other hand, is a poor choice.

Protein—packed sandwich

You can’t go wrong with a sandwich after exercising—it’s got everything in a hand—held package. Sandwiches provide the salt you need to replace what you have lost by sweating, while the tomatoes in them supply plenty of Vitamin C. Try using whole—wheat bread to give yourself more fiber. The cheese and fresh vegetables in sandwiches are also great for helping tired muscles recover.

Power breakfast

An egg sandwich is a perfect post—exercise breakfast. There’s protein in both the yolk(蛋黄) and the white of the egg. This recipe increases your protein intake while keeping calories and fat under control. Eggs also contain zinc(锌), which helps protect against disease.

Plant—based protein

Beans are an amazing source of plant—based protein and carbohydrates. Make a large bowl of bean salad in the beginning of a week, and you’ll have a great post—exercise meal that is ready whenever you need it.

1.Why does the author advise eating a protein—packed sandwich after exercising?

A.It helps increase the protein in your body.           B.It has plenty of fat and calories.

C.The things in it help you recover.                       D.It is an amazing source of carbohydrates.

2.What should you do when your muscles feel tired?

   A.Eat cheese and fresh vegetables.

B.Drink as much milk and yogurt as possible.

   C.Eat whole—wheat bread instead of a sandwich.

D.Eat and drink as soon as possible.

3.Which of the following is NOT true according to the passage?

A.It’s the best time for muscles to take in nutrients within 30 to 60 minutes after exercising.

B.It’s best for you to have an egg sandwich after exercising.

C.A cup of coffee will help you recover after exercising.

D.Bean salad is another great meal for post—exercising.

4.What is the passage mainly about?

A.The healthy eating habits of athletes.                  B.The best time for exercising.

C.How to warm up before exercising.                    D.What to eat after exercising.

People often say, “The hand that rocks the cradle rules the world.” and “Behind every successful man there is a woman.” Both these sayings mean the same thing. Men rule the world, but their wives rule them.

Most American women like making their husbands and sons successful, but some of them want more for themselves. They want good jobs, and when they work they want to be paid. They also want to be as successful as men.

The American women’s liberation movement was started by women who didn’t want to stand behind successful men. They wanted to stand beside men and have the same chances for success. They didn’t want to be told that certain jobs or offices were closed to them. They refused to work side by side with men who did the same work for a higher pay.

A liberated woman must be proud of being a woman and have confidence in herself. If somebody says to her, “You have come a long way, baby.” She will smile and answer, “Not nearly as far as I’m going to go, baby.” This movement is quite new, and many American women don’t agree with it. But it has already made some important changes in women’s lives and in men’s lives, too.

1. From the first paragraph, we can learn that ________.

A. American women usually take care of their children by themselves

B. women in the United States are powerful

C. women play a very important role in men’s lives

D. if there is no woman, there is no man

2. From the passage we know that most American women today are _____.

A. fighting for their rights to work side by side with men

B. working hard at home to help their husbands and sons be successful

C. working side by side with men in all kinds of jobs

D. very confident about their future

3. The liberated women want to do all the following EXCEPT ___________.

A. stay at home to help their husbands be successful

B. have the same chances for success as men

C. get the same pay when doing the same work as men

D. seek for office and do some important jobs as men

4. By saying “Not nearly as far as I’m going to go”, a liberated woman is stating that _______.

A. she has nearly got to her destination

B. there is a little more than what she wants

C. she will never get to her ideal destination

D. it is not far enough and she will go a lot further

5. In this passage, the author suggests that in the United States _______.

A. most women can’t get a good job

B. many women still don’t want to go out of their home to work

C. all families are still supported by men

D. all liberated women have achieved a lot
